yeah, same here, just when I thought I knew all about tomatoes, and finalized my top 5 list, you European guys out of nowhere bring a bunch of interesting tomatoes I never heard of... I wonder though, have you tried some of the more popular tomatoes we have here, like Super Sweet 100 and Sungold for the cherry tomatoes, or Black Krim, Cherokee Purple, and Indian Stripe for the black heirlooms?
@Tan_Z
@Tan_Z 6 месяцев назад
@@npast1I've tried and love all of those varieties, except for the Indian stripe. I have seeds for Indian stripe and Indian Zebra. After a bit of research I'm going to grow the zebras this year.

Hi, I am from Australia. I have been growing SunGold F1 hybrid seeds. They are the sweetest tasting tomato I have ever grown. High yields, disease resistant but not heirloom. Worth the money each year growing them. Thanks for the video. I will be checking out the green tomato varieties you listed

I am glad somebody gives credit to green tomatoes! I love them too. I had Queen aliquippa this year and it is relly good. My all time favorite is Orange Russian 117. For taste and beauty! Russian rose is also one of the very best. I have so many very good ones, can't even mention everybody...

I definitely want to give Spencer a try. I have grown many great tasting heirloom and hybrid cherries but cracking is the main issue. Rapunzel F1 is my current favorite that I grow yearly because of the very long trusses, doesn't crack and last long on the kitchen counter. It sounds like Spencer might be a good heirloom alternative. It looks like US seed sellers don't carry the seeds though, I'll have to try my luck with international shipping. I don't know if people noticed, but price of seeds has become ridiculous, especially hybrids, here in the States they are starting to charge $8-9 10 seeds of these sweet cherry variety. I want to step away from hybrid starting next year and concentrate on heirloom again.

I know a few people who claimed to hate tomatoes. When what they really meant was they hate store tomatoes. Even if people just try some of the old gardening classics like Gardeners Delight. They're already well ahead of anything from a store. Then they will want to try all these other great verities. Or just track down any one of the tomatoes featured in your videos. Even in your tomatoes, you wouldn't grow again. There aren't that many terrible tomatoes. More that there are so many other better ones to chose from.

@@LUCKYGARDENTOMATOES Yes. I live in the north of Ireland, which technally is still within the UK. But thanks to Brexit, we can't get any seeds from UK providers. We still follow the EU rules & regulations on seeds/plant material etc. Just like the Republic of Ireland. On a plus side. It has forced me to look for other local providers like Sow Diverse, based down in Cork. They carry a decent range of tomatoes, as well as some dwarf tomatoes. A little late now, but well worth a look for anybody from Ireland who reads this. Maybe even check them out yourself. Then if anybody from around here asks about seeds, you can point them towards their site. You'd need to spend a crazy amount of money to have each variety cleared to be imported. Then you'd need to wait for them to grow some out, run all manner of tests etc. I can totally see why it's a thing. But it does also hammer the smaller providers. And we aren't even getting into all the paperwork that needs to go with each variety. If I spend say £20 - £30 on a few types of plant seed. Then each variety is going to need a small booklets worth of paperwork. That's just not practical for even the large, well known providers.

i dont like tomatoes raw. I like them as a soup instead however i would love to try all 5 of these in my new allotment plot that i have bought. Both for soup but also for my family because they love fruit and vegetables.
@kqdwills

Same here. I can only eat a few sweet cherry tomatoes, or tomato slices eating raw with cooked meat or fish. Mostly tomatoes can go in stir fried dishes, soup, sauce.... My stomach doesn't tolerate too much acidity from raw tomatoes, even the more popular sweet ones.

A sample of the classic cocktail tomato is the Blash variety or Brad Gates Atomic Fusion. The green goddess Xanadu is really a very tasty variety for those who have not tried the Polish variety Jarson 7 (Malachite casket X Kozula 125) or Wild thyme. Of the orange varieties, the most delicious are Arkansas Marvel Heart and Orange Heart. You can try the Texas Star or the Mermaid. It is difficult to argue with the fact that Queen Aliquippa is an incredibly delicious and fruitful variety
