Same, incredibly memorable though. I feel like stuff like that is responsible for my enjoying horror games as an adult (also played RE2/3 with my dad as a kid and was shitscared of those)
I used to watch my older sister play this when I was a little boy and that torso monster used to scare me to death. It still makes me feel uneasy now, I think its because of the awkward movements and weird looking face. If anything the primitive graphics make it creepier
I played and finished this game for the first time ever just two weeks ago. Man, best thing ever. I remember when I was four years old when me and my sister would watch dad play Tomb Raider. When I remembered some parts from that time I just wanted to cry :'D
+Onmysheet I'd say Larson got injured/knocked out by a kick outside Tomb of Qualopec then gets killed in Sanctuary of Scion by gunshots... Pierre gets wounded multiple times and gets killed at Tomb of Tihocan.
I think, the designers probably meant it was the beginning with Pierre. Chronicles was before TR1, he thought right. The short Chronicles is some sort of uncut Tomb Raider - things about Tomb Raider nobody wanted to see. In that game she meet him the first time, thought he was dead, and I can't imagine how he survived that fall, and now he's back, ones again, getting in her way, but not again. I think that is too much explanation on that game, they could have keep it where it belongs, not shown.
Yeah, the first scene with Werner von Croy when she was a child. The scene with Pierre, however, was before TR1, of course, there their rivalry started.
@@Sassy_Witch Indeed. Also she wasn't so stereotypical. The enemy design in the backflash cutscene were far better, too. Not to mention the enemy designs of the mutants. I also missed the explosions which with bad luck could still kill you.

First game I ever got on psx. Used to love it (I always left the t-rex and raptors alive so I could stand on the bridge and look down on them, got your heart pounding making that run without being killed). Cistern was always my favourite level. I genuinely dont remember the skateboarder though :s

@ Schizima Skateboader is one of Natla's henchmen from the sanctuary of the scion/natla's mines cinematic along with Kold and Cowboy. All three of them are mercenaries. They were shown in Anniversary, but for some reason, you weren't given a fight with them, just a cinematic sequence, same with Pierre. Probably the most disappointing part of the game though several other boss fights made up for it. All the same, I missed Pierre's annoying yet nostalgic appearance throughout Greece. They also cut out a large portion of the Cistern and combined what was left with tomb of tihoken...-_-
They even cut out the side rooms in the Atlantis level, and fighting the bosses in cinematic sequence was sort of explained in the Anniversary commentary on the St Francis Folly level.
Honestly, no joke. When I was 4 me and my dad were playing the 'Lost Valley' and when I heard *thump* *thump* my eyes widened. Then the T-Rex appeared and I ran out the room screaming. My dad remembers it clear as day :')
Am I the only one that runs to the caves on the side and go to the opening way up in the mountain to snipe the shit out of the T-rex? I mean sure, fighting him head on like this is freaking boss, but wen I first saw him my reaction was run as far away as possible LOL And wen I found that cave, here was I fucking camping xD
I found that cave by accident on my first time playing the game, and from then on I tried running around the T-rex while the camera faced at Lara... but I kept clipping against the wall and then my manouverability was screwed.
You can consider that they don't die in the 5th (Larson just get bitten by the dragons and Pierre had fallen on the gulf but by a miracle way the survived and just broke his leg bones) ;)
years ago i was alone at home, i was 9 years old and i was playing egypt scenario.. when those mummies came out my heart stopped and i screamed so hard, i thought i was gonna die, then i stop playing for months because it scared the shit out of me...

Lara: Oh, bitches. *T-Rex eats them all*
Definitely. Especially the ambience that played whenever something was about to happen, like when Larson was about to tackle Lara on the last Peru level. Granted that scene wasn't unnerving, but hearing the music in other parts of the game certainly was.
fighting those atlantean mutations in atlantis and the great pyramid, along with those centaurs and mummies used to scare me. now pierre...he frightened me.
Very good, Very good, finally we can see some great ideas in parts, you have really choose the great music for the needed place, and with no confusing, very good .
Man I still have this game on Playstation. Maybe it's time to try this game again for a long time. Health meter for bosses wouldn have been nice thing here. Also Skateboarder kid? Skateboarder Kid?! What the hell? Where they did think that up? Anyway nice video. Good job! :)
Back in the day when I was used to Mario and all that, I thought Tomb Raider looked photo-realistic. Not sure what I was thinking now that I look at it now!!
I remember when ur killing the torso if u fell off the ledge she would scream for a long time, catch her breath then scream again lol it was a long fall
i remember when my brother bought this game in 96 i was nine years old and i beat it before him because he wasnt really into it it just stuck out to me because at the time i didnt ever see a female heroine in a videogame who was so badass...i wish you couldve included the larson fight becuz it was hilarious when you walk into a room and you hear "I got a pain in my brain and its telling me to shoot you to Hell!" i love that boss fight and everyone cowboy and larson arent the same in TR1
