This is incredible! The part with the wreckage really reminds me of a new modern version of the original level! I wish they actually would do a remake of Tomb Raider 2. That would be one hell of a game
I dont think they will do a remake, however if you consider the rebooted stories as Canon, TR2 takes place after the events of all that so a remake would technically be in order. BTW the Maria Doria is based off the Andrea Doria, a real ship that sunk off Nantucket back in the 50s. The Maria Doria sunk the same way in this trailer with that huge starboard list. Its only because the real ship took eleven hours to sink that all but 3 of its passengers were saved. Had the ship gone down as fast as the Titanic, the death toll would have been much higher
I remember lying on my back as a kid trying to see what the Maria Doria was supposed to look like. This is so much more preferable. Fantastic work! Everything about this showcase took my breath away.
Seriously? I think Maria Doria sucks 😅 So many frigging block puzzles. I don't like any of the sunken ship levels in TR2, they're such a massive slump, Lara isn't built for swimming and walking through endless copy pasted corridors. Always just waiting to get to Tibet!
This is very special. It shows how creative and ambitious they were, and what unique idea for a tomb the developers had back in 1997, but were held back by the hardware. Lara exploring this old, abandoned ship holding lots of history and vanished memories, with the soft lightning and gentle, mysterious ambience, it's so beautiful. I'd love to play the remake, but one staying true to the core and this special feeling of being alone, while exploring and discovering. The Tomb Raider realy changed its direction nowadays, which is not necessary bad, just so different. You did an amazing job with conveying the atmosphere on this one.
I really think you need to show case to the TR developers because this is AMAZING. If you re-designed the games, I would definitely buy it on PS5 or other console. ❤️
I'm replaying TR2 and actually just finished this level 3 days ago, so when I saw this in my timeline I just thought youtube was spying on me again and recommending old content- I can't believe this just came out! What incredible timing, and what an absolute joy to have every detail of it so fresh on my mind, I was amazed at how everything looked!
Wow this is absolutely phenomenal, why they haven't remade this game is absolutely criminal, this is so very awesome and im completely blown away by this
Core were ballsy with trying this setting in 1997 and actually did a really good job of it given the limitations, it's a really difficult thing to do and the Maria Doria levels in TR2 worked out pretty well.
Fully agreed, I've always thought this idea needs to be visited more in gaming! Exploring a wrecked ship at the bottom of a sea is soooo cool. Getting the views of the ocean and fish from the small air pockets and windows inside the ship was ridiculously atmospheric.
I always thought it was funny how the front part of the Maria Dora somehow managed not to capsize and then perfectly lodge itself in an underwater watertight cave 😂
Seriously impressive work. It's a crying shame current Tomb Raider developers have 0 interest in devoting themselves to something like this with actual remakes.
This was for sure my favourite level of TR2 and it is in my top 5 memories of the entire series. I still remember how I enjoyed this part of the game. Thank you ❤️
Stunning to see the whole Story of the Maria Doria. What a beautiful ship, a jewel of the ocean. 💙 They should definitely do a remake of Tomb Raider 2, since it's the best TR Game ( well besides TR1 of course)
this level confused the hell out of me... partially because of this graphics and visuals back in the day i love how it looks now and it makes so much more sense
This is honestly one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, you would be the perfect level designer if we ever got a TR2 remake (I know I can dream) I have always tried to imagine what the Maria Doria would have been like when it was sailing and this video has done it perfectly. A very well done to you.
Wow! This is amazing! So beautiful 😍 it’s amazing to see what the Maria Doria might have looked like in all its glory and then the sinking and the wreck!
The Maria Doria level was super intense!!! It gave me a life long fear the following......old abandoned upside ships/water/shards of broken glass/sharks/the weird eel thing at the start of the level/big men holding gas canisters/running around bare foot/eerie af clunky abandoned ship noises/keys/black and white chequered flooring/abandoned ship swimming pools (especially when you can see the shark swimming around in the ocean just outside of it)..... I think that's about it actually.....oh yeah, the barrels! They were a pain. All that and it's STILL my favourite lvl ever😊
Suddenly, the Barkhang monks now look a little less noble sinking the ship. 😄 Great job on making a pretty authentic Maria Doria, especially the interior.
@carlosrivas1629 About 70 years ago there was an italian ship - whose true name was "Andrea Doria" - which sinked in the ocean after a collision with the swedish cargo "Stockholm" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GUNpAHtqQOM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pvrId8v2JEg.html
Amazing work, love the solitary vibe it all has. Somehow seems more "respectful" of the great tragedy that happened there, if that makes sense. I don't necessarily dislike the new games but I'd love to have more tomb raiding like this
@@WillmesWalid Tomb raider 4 was great with real locations in egypt and I learned a lot about Egypt from this game. Loved Giza level those pyramids and sphinx. Wonder what remake would look like in these locations!
Wow, very impressive! I hope I live to see this being released. TRII was my very first "real" 3D computer game ever and I was simply blown away by the experience. Just a few suggestions: The people in the first part are not dressed and styled like 1956. They look more like modern hipsters. And the level needs more decay. It looks just a little bit too tidy. After all, it sank to the bottom of the sea 40 years ago. The original engine made it look shabby without much further effort 😉, but in a modern HD engine it all looks a bit too shiny.
Я не знаю как другие ремейки игр но мне кажется что эту ждут просто десятки тысяч людей,могу только сказать что кто ее создаёт просто потрясающие люди!!!
Amazing job. A really beautiful reimagining of some of the key areas in the Maria Doria levels. If they ever re-make TR 2, I hope they include a cut-scene like this that shows the ship in its splendour followed by its fate. By way of constructive criticism, the ship was meant to have been bombed by the monks. Also I think the bow section was meant to be have been upturned and the stern section remaining upright - that’s what Living Quarters and The Deck imply. The shot around 2.58 suggests the opposite.
I can't believe it! You did the Maria Doria :o :o :o All the work here is SO GOOD! Your attention to detail, recreating the spaces based on the original game... the shipwreck sequence, all the hard work you put into this ! I'm beyond amazed.
Waah, je suis en train de me refaire TR2 en ce moment et c'est un plaisir de voir des remakes des niveaux, c'est super bien fait et l'atmosphère est incroyable !!
