Eh, his voice was distinct enough. I was just shocked cuz he seemed like such a nice fella unlike the villains of the last two games who were so obviously evil.

You can just hear in Lara's voice how done she was with lunatics hijacking her expeditions from the word go. Then Tony turns out to be another one and shes so pissed, she cant even make a snappy one-liner. "Your perception of good timing is.....BAD!"
lol i dont know why but I find the old in-game lara so cute for reason, just even when she does that flip/fall over at 5:17 its comical in a cute cartoon character way.
Omg as a 12 year old in 1998 the final boss scared the shit out of me! Always panicking, sprinting down the path to each artefact, praying I don't overshoot because the evil spider shoots fire and kills me 😱
I still remember the tv spot where the scientist guy is like "new outfits!" and then theres like a fashion show w models wearing all Lara's clothes from the game ❤
The music style in the first four Tomb Raider games is so good, the calm tunes and the typical TR tune instruments used for interludes. Sad it was slowly taken out more and more in later games.

@@Aspir7 Well, *technically* since they were part of Sofia's experiments, they'll probably just regenerate or something in a few days. After all, it was Bob who said, "...When I tried to take me own life, I found it just didn't work." But then again, who's counting? She did shoot them, so it can go both ways, I guess. The point I was trying to make anyway was Sofia's shock when Lara mentioned her "Past experiments."
There’s nothing wrong with wearing shorts. Her pants in 1-6 were actual shorts and not super skin tight. Which there’s nothing wrong with of course. She’s worn pants for many years.
The reason is that most people read lightly misspelled words correct. It has actually been proven in experiments when they sneak in three or four misspelled words into a text and ask a large group of people to read the text without telling them about the intentional errors. *Very few* people notice the words missing a letter or if a word having the letter combination "ie" is spelled "ei". The explanation for this is that people are focused on the *content* , the structure and the point being made. Nice spotted btw. I never caught it either.
Yeah, it's poorly directed/animated. The characters in Metal Gear Solid 1 and Resident Evil 2 don't have mouth movements either, but the cutscenes in those games look better.

I was looking specifically for this in the remaster to see if they removed it. I'm surprised with the effort they made to censor Pierre's jacket in TR1 that they actually left that line in.
This looks how I remember it looking in 1998... I can't believe how bad the FMVs look on the Steam version. Like with certain CGI effects in films - I think CRTs helped disguise the shortcomings!

Who’s here after hearing about the remastered versions coming to ps5 . I remember these games like yesterday. They were so challenging. I still remember going to my friends and his stepdad getting frustrated because he couldn’t make his way out certain levels . He would take his frustration out on his stepson calling him an idiot and stupid ass for trying to help him . 😂 good times

I remember coming home from primary school to this game i was super gassed too happiest times of my life playing all these tomb raider games 😃 one thing i didnt notice as a child is that the level high security compound all the inmates are men 🤣 surely if this was real life lara would have been incarcerated within a womens jail

At least Lara admitted to having cannibalistic urges herself. But I think the biggest problem would be the levels themselves, which involves Lara (a white wealthy British woman) invading a native South Pacific village and randomly murdering a bunch of black people.
Same here. I bought a used copy on eBay and I'm playing it on my old ps2. This was a game I never finished and what better time to finish it than during quarantine? This Lara is the best Lara.
I might have found a way to record 4k videos on my regular 1080p monitor using Nvidia's SuperSampling feature, lets see how that works out. Hopefully I'll be able to do Tomb Raider 4 and 5 in 4k. If it goes well, I'll redo the videos I've done already to get the quality consistent.
If the source material isn't in HD let alone UHD - what point is there recording it in high resolution? Especially given the limited graphics of the time? You'll see every singe pixel. And besides, 99% of you will either watch this on your 5 inch smart phone screens or a laptop so the whole UHD resolution is indistinguishable from regular HD, or even SD for that matter. You need to have at least a 55 inch tv to see the difference of UHD over HD.
Even at the time i found tr3 too dark and more buggy than the previous games. The story was also badly presented... Lots of stuff unexplained. I found tr2 better. Oh and f*** these horrible london levels

They are "remastared" though, using Adobe After Effects. They aren't TRUE HD for obvious reasons, there were never any uncompressed files released to the public.
It's a good job, knowing the source files (not something we questioned at the time, but looking back, it's so weird there were FMVs in games with only every 2nd line of pixels actually showing video).
