Whitlock and Carter were hoping and praying the Steelers would win simply because they hate to see New England continue this run. I can't take these guys seriously because their judgement is clouded by jealousy when it comes to the Patriots. How could anyone look at that Pittsburgh secondary and think they had a legitimate chance to control New England offense at Gillete?

Pearl Harbor you're exactly right! Last time steelers played pressed coverage against the patriots it was successful. Also, imo each player on defense was trying to do someone else's job instead of their own!

Greg Tucker Tomlin has NEVER been a genius mind like bill. He is a players coach. A good guy. Good at motivating his players and keeping them in line. But he is not a great football mind in the way that the greats are. He isn't the type to make the crucial adjustments mid game that make the difference.

Steelers aren't equipped to compete against a well prepared team and it starts with Tomlin. Maybe they'll punch through again when Brady retires and if the Raiders with David Carr don't replace the Pats as the elite team in the AFC.

Belichek still seems to be the only coach that schemes with the strengths and weaknesses of both his team and the opponent they'll be facing. After all these years of success, it seems that some of these other coaches would stop falling in love with their dry erase boards and approach each game the way Belichek does.

You'd think 2 former players would know better. The reason the 3rd & 1 pass play is criticized is not because of the play call itself. It worked to perfection. The criticism comes from people who watch who they put at WR to catch the pass. They put Sammy Coates out to catch it. Sammy Coates is a body catcher. He's not gonna make that catch. They should know their personnel better and put someone out there with better hands to catch the ball. As coaches you need to know these things and they either don't know or don't care. Either way it's bad coaching.

Not going to lie, Ben looks like he's on a pretty steep decline. Was throwing up some absolute ducks. There were definitely some drops, but he missed some throws badly.

TempeSoldier123 Certainly possible. He wasn't going to sit this one out, so you have to appreciate the effort, but it's unfortunate Pittsburgh wasn't at full strength. NE might be in for a wake up call when they play ATL, because the AFC hasn't provided much resistance.

About that flea-flicker. Watch that play again... Chris Hogan completely sold the run on that play which is why the safety and linebacker bit. He starts his route jogging, looking like he's not in the play so he's not going 100%. When the safety bites he kicks it into gear and blows by him. Hogan ran an amazing route which made that play work so well.

DeAngelo Williams has had success against the Pats in the past so don't go with the Le'Veon Bell injury excuse. And the Steelers zone blitz has never worked against Brady for 15 years so they finally went away from it...Oh what's that? They stuck with a plan that is proven to never work. The cheerleader never adjusts. So in that sense he did get exposed.

This is why I have started watching the NHL analytics play a part in all sports now it's unavoidable the Pats have mastered analytics hockey is to fast and a missed pass has to be adjusted to immediately the in front of the net deflection is only stopped by an athlete reacting to the play it's still the athlete that wins the game bellicheck is a computer an analytics genius but it lessens the athletes role saying all that go pats go

The patriots are just better point blank period without L.BELL the Steelers couldn't win that game. So its a personnel issue especially on the defensive side of the ball.

This topic is absurd. The Steelers go 11-5, get to the AFC championship, and lose to a team on the road that has consistently had their number since before Tomlin was even the coach. Could Tomlin have switched to a man coverage scheme? Yes. Did he. He actually did try, and they still got burnt. He also has this thing called a defensive coordinator. And even then, neither the D coordinator nor the head coach can make their players, specifically their secondary, play well beyond their means and abilities. Even if the Steelers were to have switched to man coverage scheme, they probably still would've gotten burned, since they tried it a few times and have up like 30 yards multiple times. When are the players accountable for their own missteps? Because schemes are great and all, but only if the players execute them correctly.

Tomlin sucks, he won coach of the year for what ? He had a ready made family so to speak, cowher already had built a super bowl team and all tomlin did was come in and pretty much let the team run all cowher's plays and they praised tomlin when he did absolutely nothing.

Tomlin didn't get exposed i think the Steelers are just overrated, the player from Buffalo said they dominated KC lol they won by 2 points and didn't score a TD and they scored 1 TD yesterday in garbage time so their offense isn't so high scoring like some people think and Ben is not that good in playoff games he has 23 ints & 24 TDs in his playoff career , so don't put it all on Tomlin the Steelers are just overrated
