One of my favorite drummers and the reason I started playing drums. Tommy was a pleasure to Direct and an inspiration to me as a drummer... Enjoy! www.cgryche.com/
Saw him w/ BOA 4 times, Travers twice, and Ozzy on the Diary tour! (6 months before Randy's accident) He's an animal on the kit!! Bill Ward and Tommy, two of my all time faves! 🤘
Holy Jesus. When I was a kid, I always looked to Alex Van Halen, as far as hard rock drummers go. But I really wish I could’ve had RU-vid in the 80’s to see all this solo Tommy Aldridge stuff. Unbelievable chops and power this guy has. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
One thing that makes him a great rock drummer is he's musical. Obviously not a rudiment guy but like Bonham he's very musical in his approach and a great live rock drummer!
GREATWHITE2 I heard the same solo in '84. Of course no one comes close. He does the same thing every time, it's automatic for him. He is a great drummer but a little variety might be nice.
@ that's a slight over exaggeration on his ability, great drummer yes.. nobody comes close to expertise?? hmm i',m sure a few of us could name some who "come close"
@@billlenderman3778 There is always a hater in the crowd. Who cares how long he has been playing the same. Anyway they are all different if u open your mind and listen. JMO (Just my opinion ).
I watched him play with Whitesnake in '87. He was always my fave drummer when he played with Pat Travers. I went to see P.T. play at Georgetown U in D.C. and of course Tommy had left the band to play with Ozzy. Such an awesome drummer and from all of the interviews I've watched him do, he seems like a really awesome person.
Why would we take away one bass drum? Tommy Aldridge is one of the most successful heavy drummers of all time. Believe me, he can solo just fine with one bass drum. I have a better question, why are you so negative?
Technically not the greatest but Tommy definately shows that simple techniques practiced over and over can really make some great sounds come off of your drums.
I learned to play drums in part due to Tommy's hot licks videos. when my band opened for thin Lizzy years ago, I found myself standing there in front of Tommy, one of my idols. All he said to me was "Get the F$#@k away from me"! so of course I was crushed, Tommy forgot his fans and how he got his money. what an A-hole!!
When it not broke, dont fix it. This solo is what started my career in 1983. I'm very grateful to now know Tommy as a friend, great guy with a great solo & career.
