His playing is nearly incomparable (he's humble enough not to admit it). Every note is distinct, as is every pause. And his progressions are just genius. I smile every time I hear him, and more when I see him enjoying his craft and those who are benefiting.
The unbelievable, the incredible, the amazing, one of a kind master of the acoustic guitar, a class act as well, Thank you Tommy you made my day 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Been playing acoustic guitar for about 30 years. I can’t get close to this! Even when explained by Tommy in layman’s terms! Your technique is just incredible. I doff my hat sir.
It’s not everyone who can be dedicated to practice a skill enough to become this fluent and out of those that do how many have the musicality and performance skills of Tommy Emmanuel, just an absolute master of his craft and a joy to witness
Oh my this is as good as it gets . I have played mandolin since before Sierra was born and she continues to amaze and inspire me . As for Tommy we are exactly the same age . I met him twenty years ago when a friend opened for him. I will never forget that day when I heard the most amazing musician I had ever heard. Over the years whenever he has come to town I have had the opportunity to see him and spend a few moments with him. He is so much more than just an amazing musician . He is so very kind, funny , and inspiring. I actually got the chance to photograph him and David Grisman the last time he was in town . I would morgatge my house to see Tommy , Sierra and Grisman play just one concert ❤
Great stuff Tommy. I'm seeing him tomorrow night in Brisbane, for the second time. The last and only other time i saw him was in 1982 with Phil, at the Melbourne Hotel, about 200 yards and a lifetime away from where he will be playing tomorrow. Very excited
Yeah your concert made him miss his flight to Adelaide and arrived late and dishevelled for his show at Adelaide Festival Theatre but still managed to put on a good show (I bought a ticket for my sister who had never been interested much) and was a bit disappointed it wasn’t as good as other TE concerts I had attended she was impressed nevertheless 👍
I know how It feels getting so frustrated when seeing immense talents like Tommy. At the age of 75 now, I' m still a guitar freak and listening from Bach, Bossa Nova, Jazz and acoustic guitar. I sometimes regret my Ramirez, that I sold 30 years ago. Greetings from Südtirol, Dolomites.
That is one of God's gifts to the guitar world. There are only a handful on earth. You can't practice your way to this performance; you just won't live long enough
I have often heard about him but was delighted to finally hear him on this post just recently! He is amazing, actually creates enjoyable music rather than meaningless fast notes and what a showman!
Was having a rather rotten day..Turned on the laptop and went to youtube..Up pops Tommy and his beautiful guitar music..pretty new vids available.. Like having a new day!
I've seen him perform live twice. He's a musician's musician. You look around and you just know most of the audience (if not all) are guitar players. I know non-artists can enjoy and appreciate this level of artistry. But, I really believe there's another level that only guitarists get to during one of his performances. You watch in awe ping-ponging in your head. "I'll never pick up my guitar again-I can't wait to get home and try 'anything' new on the six strings I have."
That's it. He also inspires non guitarist's. Well, I can chomp with a plectrum but have enough other instruments going on so have to spread a bit thinner. The key is the Spirit of the man, and having that in the music too.
Tommy doesn't perform. He is a TRUE entertainer. Plays the instrument as if he is just telling a story for us. I remember seeing him in NY once with his brother. It never felt like we were "watching" a performance. He got everyone invested in the music. It was an amazing experience.
You almost got an old Marine choked up because your initiative and perseverance. Dang good stuff as always my.. Auzzie transferred to Tennessee Amazing Musician
I'm a guitarist, but after watching the various songs played by Tommy Emmanuel, I must say that this is the beginning... This man is not a guitarist, he is a guitar orchestra.
Tommy is so enjoyable to watch and listen to. Such mastery of an instrument is rare to begin with but even more rare is the coupling of that talent with a pleasant and humble demeanor. The subtitles in his performance are the effortless extension of a cool persona. Tommy is as cool as it gets.
What an arrangement of Blue Moon it was my Mum's favourite tune I used play guitar my mum would sing my guitar playing has never been close to Tommy he's an amazing guitar player.
I can only suggest that if you ever get the opportunity to see Tommy live… do it. Your life will be changed for the better. Well at least for several hours. 😊
Awesome. My daughter served him on jet star going to Brisbane I think, said I was a mad fan of his, so he signed his autograph for me on a jet star boarding pass how nice…
