I was convinced Tommy must have freakishly long fingers to make the reaches he seems to do so effortlessly. When he performed in my neck of the woods I got to have a few minutes with him alone post-performance in the green room. What a genuinely gracious man he is. I got a photo taken of my hand and fingers pressed against his. Lo and behold his finger length is pretty much the same as mine. He stated that the key to his freakish reaches is simply practice, practice, and more practice. He was certainly right. Within a few weeks of practicing longer reaches I was amazed what my fingers could suddenly do. Thank you Tommy!
I have the same guitar.Matin EBG808TE,..and I also use the same strings,...Martin FX Phosphore Bronze medium gauge...and the same amplifier AER Compact 60,...great sound,..but I am not Tommy Emmanuel!
A beautiful guitar for an exceptionally gifted guitarist. Keep up the great work and trust me when I say we'll keep on coming to watch. You are a hell of an inspiration.
It seems to me TE has this guitar tuned down a half or full step which is what he does on the bigger drednaught Maton. Putting medium gage strings on this little guitar otherwise may damage it. I own 2 of these 808s and Tommy is correct-they are the best.
Anybody know what the nut width is on Maton guitars? Do they make any 1 7/8" (48mm)? They say nothing about nut width on their site or in the brochure.
Give Tommy a day or two with his often aggressive and always masterful technique and this one will look beat to hell! (If I had one of these guitars I'd freak at the first scratch.)
Actually the Rainsong guitars can. No wood required and they are frigging amazing. The bummer is that Rainsong won't make me a lefty but Maton will. Go figure.
neither try lakewood guitar any model...look up the next tommy emmanuel...his name is sungha jung...many tunes on youtube...even tommy is amazed with this youngster...enjoy
Recently bought a Maton SRS808C from Sale in South Gippsland Victoria, a Gentleman walked in The shop keeper said hello Tom the Gentleman sat down and played. wow could he play when I got back to my car I thought O my ..was that you? ..throwing your guitar around yes morons is a good word, I could think of several others, ,,,,,,thankyou Tommy for your music......my Maton smells amazing and sound wonderful
