I think most people in Sweden can sing a-long to this song. You hear it as a child watching the popular Emil i Lönneberga movie and it sticks for life.

Thank you for your reaction that was very unique. I am a fan of Tommy for only about 5 months. I am enamoured of every video that he creates. One of the most endearing personalities ever !!. It does not matter if he sings in foreign languages because his spirit comes through his voice. I do relisten to every foreign song with it's English translation. Will be checking in to hear your other reactions to this amazing Swedish talent !! ☺

This song is from a movie for children (enjoyed by all ages) based on a book by Astrid Lindgren.

Yes, and it is not a folk song, even though it sounds like one. It was written 1971 by an extremely good jazz bassists called Georg Riedel. Georg Riedel has written lots of children's songs, and this is, as you said, such a one. Even though it has a folk song feeling.

BTW - if you want to hear something with Georg Riedel, here is one of the most beautiful songs and also the most beautiful renditions in Sweden. Its is "Visa från Utanmyra", which translates to "Song from Utanmyra". It is performed by Jan Johansson on piano and Georg Riedel on contra bass. It is a part of the album "Jazz på Svenska", "Jazz in Swedish". Its totally instrumental so nothing is said in Swedish, but it is based upon Swedish folk musik that has ben converted into jazz. It might be one of the most beautiful album made in Sweden. It was very successful and is the most sold jazz albums in Sweden. I think it was released in 1964.

Thanks for your reaction. Tommy is really versatile when it comes to music. I like that he still has the folk spirit and pays tribute to Swedish traditions. However, my absolute favorite is not Swedish. It is Murder in the Skies by Gary Moore that he plays together with Majestica's bass player Chris Davidsson. A banger.

No no no! Tommy Körberg is not the original! It is Björn Gustavsson who is the original. And it is George Riedel who made it.

Actually Tommy Körberg is not the original(but a nationally known and loved singer! He was one of the main character in the original Chess in the 80’s) It’s from a movie(originally a book) where Björn Gustafsson plays a farmers hand to the family the movie it’s about and he sings the song. I’m not sure you can watch this link though.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kuIX1grFLpY.htmlsi=2MfkmDweBHoAJGKj By the way, if you’re going to react to Tommy Johansson’s latest cover of ”Rövarsången” From the children’s movie Ronja Rövardotter (Ronja the robber’s daughter), here is the original intro from that movie. Where actually Tommy Körberg plays one of the robbers who has the main part (when it comes to the singing) in the movie! Think of the time of Robin Hood but with some fairytale creatures and a girl that DO NOT want to be a robber when she grows up and you’ve got the setting pretty well. It’s the second part of the song Tommy covers where they come out of the woods and ride into the castle. There are no lyrics just their beautiful voices singing their hearts out. Here you go! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-daEGQPsGgPE.htmlsi=qK5dBfLGgFsItOvl

Drängar was farm workers but they were just a step away from slavery. They didn't really have any other choices so they worked for food and somewhere to live and a few coin's every year.
