I total agree, first time i heared tommy johansson version of sound of silence, always goose bump, but feel he holding back, what he really can do. But is respect for his friend and the the masterpiece of a song and , and maybe of disturbe version of sound of silence
Incredibly emotional cover from Tommy with dedication to his friend who really loved this song, showcasing his amazing range. That message in the end is a reference to a popular Swedish children's movie (and a book) about two children, brothers, when one of them dies and goes to the other world , Nangiala, where he waits for his brother. When they finally reunite, they have many adventures there. Check out his cover of Eagle Fly Free from Helloween and also Emerald from Thin Lizzy (where he has a guitar duel with himself)
Though I grew up on the Simon&Garfunkle original, which I've loved for over 40 years, I also love this rendition. The somber singing suits the dedication to his lost friend.
Is it possible that you and me are the same age? I grew up with the Simon &Garfunkel version as well, but I actually prefer the louder version. In Tommy's version is , of a lot more emotions almost desperate. So beautiful
this is one of those ones that gets me. disturbed and David Draimin is still number one. Tommy slid into number 2. and simon and garfunkle who wrote the damn song are number are number 3. it's crazy.
Nice reaction! First time I've seen your channel. I love Tommy's music - solo, Majestica, and Sabaton - and I'm glad RU-vid suggested him after I started listening to Dan Vasc. Ironically enough, the first Dan Vasc song I heard was this one, on 9/15/20. You should check out his channel, if you haven't already, as well as Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles.
I didn't read any comments, but many pointed out disturbed. Paul Simon gave this song to draiman after hearing him. I was at 1 of the first concerts that he sang this, and crazy crowd completely froze and for 4 minutes no one said a word and most people were crying. It's like Jonny cash with hurt. Boom
Welcome to the world of Tommy =) I will highly recommend "You raise me up (one octave challenge) for the pure jawdropping epicness as your next reaction :)
I love Tommy's covers. The man makes any song he does sound great...what a voice!! Since you haven't reacted to any of Tommy's main band yet, here is Sabaton with their incredibly well-made video for Bismarck (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oVWEb-At8yc.html). Cheers!
If you geeked out like this for him, please watch the Disturbed version, which is what hes covering here, as opposed to the original. Hes not bad, but David blows him out of the water!!
