Tommy has a different kind of voice than John so some Farnham fans feels disappointed. But there is no need for Tommy mimicking John. This is Tommys own voice!

I completly agree. I wish all people who critic Tommy with the line "he is no Farnham" would listen to The Winner Takes it All! He really excells vocally in that song. As a Tommy not a Farnham! That song would win them over. 👍
He did a great job. But now I need to go and listen to John. There is a richness, depth and emotion in John’s voice that is just on a whole other level. I think that Tommy is playing bagpipes on this song... I might be wrong... there is a very old but today very rare tradition playing bagpipes in Sweden!
Another amazing Aussie singer who does You're the Voice justice is Mitch Tambo. Throw in a didgeridoo and his native Aboriginal language and you've got something truly wonderful.
I'm gonna say something a bit controversial, but as new generations rise I can see Tommy as the best torch bearer for this anthem In Days to Come (pun intended).

Yes you are an honorary Australian. This was great. John would say it was great I think. Of course John is irreplaceable and the greatest singer ever in my opinion.
There is no doubting how talented Tommy is and he did an awesome job of this! But as you said, he's no John Farnham and it's another example of just how amazing John's voice is and how he's one of the greatest vocalists of all time - hope you've got some more reactions to him coming down the pipeline!
I think he did it justice. The only thing I can fault with him is how much he put too much emphasis to sing on the beat, and not doing the off beat stresses that singers often use. On the other hand he does pretty much EVERYTHING in that video apart from filming. So hat off from me.
Sorry but anyone who listens to this much Farnham doesn't get to say they're not Australian any more. Hope America has lenient dual-citizenship laws because you're one of us now. Ok serious comment too I guess. This makes sense to me one two levels. Firstly Farnham blew up in Sweden in the 90s so Tommy Johansson would have grown up listening to him. Secondly the original was recorded in a garage with the drum loop being a sample of a car door slamming so his one-man production style really compliments the composition.
I thought he did this just as good as John Farnham. Everybody is good. Whoever says it was less good cannot let go of their John Farnham bias, and I love John Farnham. Maybe John Farnham has a pinch more passion. A pinch.
Agree. I love John Farnham too but let's be open minded and admit this was a great performance by Tommy. He sang it his way and with respect to the original.
A good effort but when you compare, John onstage ,live for 6 minutes or so and this version, done in a Studio with all the electronics, and all the enhancing paraphernalia, over what could have been weeks, it puts it in perspective
This is very good but prefer John. Tommy seems to sing it a bit more angrier - that's how it sounds to me. John's feels more uplifting. I'm glad it was a faithful rendition.

Its good but I feel sung with anger not passion for our fellow humans - too fast. His effort is appreciated but John Farnham is the Voice. Love your reaction though Nick. I would love to hear Johns reaction to it - he would be so encouraging knowing him.

I think he did a good job… I loved the guitar solo. He didn’t manage to inject as much personality into his vocal as John does, he seemed a bit “mechanical”. A really good effort though.
When someone as good as Tommy sings this song, just highlights just how good John Farnham really is. I love that Tommy has the rock chops and the range to pull this off but he is still no John Farnham....but if I had never heard Farnsey sing this. I would be totally in awe. Although I definately prefer the slower arrangement, this was the best cover of this song that I've ever heard. I love that he mixes his own voice as his own back up vocals as well. And I love that him doing this song has people talking about John and bought more recognition back to John as well.
Not for me..I found it quite boring to be honest..just doesn’t have the depth of passion in his voice…a good voice but you need more to do this song and do it justice after John…sorry, not for me.
