As a Boilermaker, I really enjoy Tommy Lloyd. He’s done a lot of good in that program in a short amount of time. Good luck the rest of the year.

Az fan here and very impressed with the shooting from Purdue. Might be the best half they play all year! So many defensive breakdowns and switching miscommunications leading to wide open shots but Purdue hit them all it seemed. Seemed like like an A performance from Purdue but probably a C+ performance from the cats. I’ll take it. Let’s learn, grow, and move forward! Rather lose this away game than in the tourney

Just a question how much of Purdue have you watched this year to say this was their best half and an “A” game from them? This was the worst game Edey has played all year. If Edey plays like normal he has 35 and 15 and Purdue wins by 15-20.
@bryanlafrese9275
@bryanlafrese9275 6 месяцев назад
@@weedonfamily5755 oh yeah Edey had a decent game with 22 pts, 9 RBs, and 5 assists lol but with hoyer and smith shooting like that it’s hard to deny you guys had an awesome game. We struggled all game and had a chance there just too many empty possessions. Fun game to watch though! Excited for both teams 🙌

@@bryanlafrese9275lol. Purdue played average. You clearly have never watched them play before. Purdue shot 41% from 3 and 52% on field goals - literally right at their average. Purdue had 13 turnovers, slightly below average quality for them if anything actually. And they weren't all cuz of Arizona's pressure, half of them were careless. Purdue only out-rebounded by 6, which is absolutely nothing for them, but Arizona is a good rebounding team so I'm not gonna necessarily say it was below average, but when you have Zach Edey you can always expect to out-rebound by at least that much if not more. Zach had a really bad game for his standards TBH, against power 6 opponents he averages 28 ppg and 15 rpg, I know most teams don't have as strong of a center as Ballo but let's face it no one can stop Edey. Really a handful of Purdue players didn't play their best, but Loyer had a great game so I would say it all kind of balanced out. But just an average game overall for Purdue's standards; they always find different ways to win (unless it's a rigged road B1G game). Sure Fletcher had a great game and Braden had a good game, but the other 8 players in Purdue's rotation played poorly - like Lance is not gonna always go 1 for 6 from 3's. You can't just look at 1 player and say whether Purdue played good or not. Now did Arizona have a good/ bad game? I haven't watched all 11 of their games like I have for Purdue, but Arizona hasn't played the top quality competition (Marquette, Tennessee, Alabama, Gonzaga, Xavier, etc) like purdues power packed schedule so far - Purdue has played 5 top 12 teams, that really gives you a solid sample size - Arizona hasn't really played enough power 6 schools to really have a legit sample size like Purdue has, cuz you can't count some of these gimmes some teams play. Only good teams Arizona had played is say like MSU who is down this year, same with Duke, not that they are bad by any means but they are like 5-5 so far. So yeah anyways I don't think sample size is enough to say whether Arizona played well or not. But Purdue played about average. This is a Purdue team that ran through the toughest college basketball tournament of all time, Maui Invitational, beating 3 top 11 teams and I really wish we could have played overrated Kansas too, but Marquette who we beat in the championship beat Kansas by 20 prior in the tournament after Kansas was the only team who got a bye.

Fun to watch two fine teams. I did hope to see my Cats win, but rather have a loss now to a very talented team, than lose in March...time to eat humble pie for a while.
@nateriley4067
@nateriley4067 6 месяцев назад
What's the correlation with losing in December automatically resulting in a March win? How does that work? What if Purdue plays better the second time (assuming we get past the 1st round)? What if Caleb Love doesn't play the game of his life? Or the same could be said about Fletch? What if there's a big injury on either side during the regular season that will totally alter the way the second game in March/April is played? But I don't get the assumption from Arizona fans that their team is the only one that gets to learn from the experience, make alterations to the game plan and improve. That's a false premise. Boiler Up!

Congratulations, you played your first "Real" team of the season. Let's all go blow the coach! You guys do have a special team, and I hope we don't have to play you again in March/April, but you're better than that comment. A 5-5 Michigan State team and a disappointing Duke Team don't really count as National Championship contenders this season, that's why I consider Purdue your first "Real Serious Competition" of the Year. That's why I disagreed and made fun of the comment which said "Tough schedule, packed with high ranked solid, across country opponents". It made me giggle like a little school girl. I think tomorrow's game against FAU could be considered your second tough game, although I expect you guys to win by 12-14 points. You'll win by that margin as long as you play better than you did against Alabama. That game was a slop-fest, with neither team really playing up to their capabilities. On paper Arizona looked to have a tough non-conference schedule, but Michigan State totally collapsed out of nowhere and Duke went from #2 to #21, so they've been very disappointing. Those were two of your three big games that your non-conference schedule was built around. Unfortunately, you won't get too many quality wins in conference play, as the PAC 12 is expected to have a very down year with you guys expected to cruise through the conference schedule rather easily. Have a great season, then things get interesting once the Tourney begins. Best of luck except if you play Purdue again.

This games on Tommy! "Maybe I might have complicated things for our guys. Made too many decisions". No kidding. Guys running away from shooters. Wide open shots for backcourt fill of spot up shooters. He didn't let big O take on Eddy himself. His complicated strategy to double post cost them!
@johnspehn4051
@johnspehn4051 6 месяцев назад
Alabama, w/out the bigs AZ has decided to play Eddy straight up. He had 35. & 9 birds. The 2 backcourt guys were 9/27 from field. Loyer 0/5. Could live w/ edee getting 40 but giving spot up shooters 53 pts on 32 shots? Simply bad strategy. Doesn't demonstrate confidence in his team.

Some of the Arizona fans have class, but this schmuck sure doesn't. This is the first real tough opponent Arizona has played all year, and you crumbled to a pair of undersized, non-athletic, white guards from Indiana. That doesn't say much about your program, which is full of 5 star, height/weight prototype freaks at every position and they're even coming off the bench! Maybe that's why they say it's basketball in 49 states, but in Indiana it's a religion! In Indiana, we just want it more, we'll out-hustle you to the loose ball, we hit our free throws, we play hard-nose man-to man defense (and don't resort to playing a bullshit Zone defense when we can't stop the man in front of us) and we let our play do the talking. That's the way basketball is supposed to be played- as a team, not as 5 superstar individuals. That's why we won game 1 and there's no way you'd win the next 9 in a row. That's why in Indiana you'll drive past 100 barns with an old hoop still hanging from it, because we still believe in that dream, the dream that propelled tiny Milan High School, and those 5 damn Hoosier teams, and one-day will take Matt and our Boilers to the Promised Land. Its that same reason why I'd take our ragamuffin team of undersized white kids (and Zach) against your future Pros any day of the week. BTFU!
