dam now this is real fucking country music now I could drive around the country playing this for days I could imagine the cars that I lucked out on in 1977 i wish i was alive during 1977
I love the 70’s style country music because the younger crowd was oblivious to it and they didn’t try to make it like their style of music like they do today.
I turned 13 in 1976 ---in the '70s in other words--- and from 1976 onward, I liked country music almost EXCLUSIVELY. So it would not be quite accurate to say that young people were OBLIVIOUS to country music.
@@allenbooth5193 You and I are the same age, then. I was into country from '68-'74, but there was some overlap with Top 40 in the latter year. I was into Top 40 from '74 to August of '78, then went back to country and stayed there for about the next 15 years. CHR is the new term for Top 40 or "pop," but NONE of today's CHR or country does anything for me.
Tommy was a great person and top-rate entertainer. First met him playing a gig at The Towers Hotel in Houston in the mid-60s. We later reconnected after he hit it big in Nashville and was saddened to hear recently that he passed away in 2015. I recall one of his earlier songs he used to sing ... I Won't be mak'in Macon Tonight. Such a great talent.
