When this song was out in 1972, i met my husband and he told me that that was how he felt about me. i no longer have him he passed away earlier this year but I fondly listen to this song and remember him. i am so thankful that God gave us a happy marriage and 42 years together.
Tommy Overstreet is one of my cousins from South East Texas, Big Sandy, Texas. That is where my dad went to school and lived. The house he grew up in is still standing. It's known by the family as, The Old Place. The funny thing is, I use to sing and I wasn't bad. I also have written lyrics that other song writers used in their songs, LIVE LIKE YOUR DYING, my words. How that came to me was when my friend Kelly died. He had been dead for 3 days before I found out. Kelly had a seizure while driving. He lost control of his car and had a head on collision with an 18 wheeler. He was on his way to see his little boy for Thanksgiving. After I found out he died, I had a lot of guilt because I never invited him over to my house. I did go to the ACL festival one time with him.We had a blast, but I didn't really get to know him. It's what came to my mind was, you have to live like you're dying. Life is a gift and you have eternity to think about what you could have done with it, which is what I had been doing. Btw, those words were included in that song. I was pouring my heart out to someone online in either 2003 or 2004. It was after Tim McGraw 's dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Life is really strange. The Love of My Life was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor about 4 yrs ago. It causes him to have seizures. Perhaps God was preparing me for my future with Michael. After I met my sweet Michael, I wasn't too inspired to write any lyrics. I was too happy. When I'm really depressed is when I can write. I should start writing again. That all too familiar feeling has been coming back again. With the pandemic and watching my sweet Michael slowly deteriorating, it has really darkened my world.
I lost my love to those "Damn cigarettes"-- I played this song to her all the time-- We were married for 42 1/2 years-- her normal weight was 112 pounds, and the day before she died she weighed 68 pounds- there was nothing left of her-- This song means so much to me-- God bless Tommy for reminding me of her every day----- Max
I spent most of yesterday transferring my large collection of Tommy's LPs onto CDs. I was reminded how much I enjoyed his music and what a great ballad singer he is! He can sing other peoples hits better than they can!
Same. I transferred as many as my cassettes to CDs. Vinyl has a much warmer sound, but then you have the popping & crackling sound. Makes me nostalgic.
I first heard" I Don't Know You" by Tommy Overstreet when I was 8 yrs old, it's been one of my favorites by him. I wish they'd post more songs by T.O. on here
Tommy invited my folks & I to a dinner show, during Fan Fair, where I worked crowd control for him. The guest artist was Jerry Wallace, along with Tommy & his niece. After the show Tommy signed autographs & posed for pictures. Like Marty Robbins, he never left untill all pix were taken & autographs signed, which was past 4am
This performance was actually recorded in Wiesbaden, Germany, in February 1982. I was in the audience and I still remember Tommy's performance very well. It was part of a show called "It's Country Time", hosted by German singer Freddy Quinn. There was a rerun of the show in 1986.
1972 charts and "heaven is my womans love" became part of our DNA with 40+yrs of my darling pelting out the lyrics that he claims expressed his heart n soul to me 😢 🎉 last serenade a week b4 he passed, lost to cancer 25th Nov 2016 😢 just sharing, what a song can do? such pleasant memories😢 ❤🎉
I remebered the name when I first saw it, but couldn't remember his songs. Memory aint what it once was (a side effect of rolling a car 4 times here while back, sugar bottomed out while driving). Anyway once I went to RU-vid & saw his songs, I remembered. The memories came back like a flood. My Uncle helped raise me back when, he had a dairy barn, when he turned on the lights in the morning, he had it rigged to where the radio came on, KWKH outa Shreveport. He loved Tommy, told me to pay attention, that man sounds like Marty Robins! Now that I listen, I think he was right. R.I.P. Tommy, a sweet memory of my younger years.
I was looking at an old Hee Haw and saw Tommy O. sing for the first time. I noticed what a great voice he had so I looked him up on you tube and there he was. Very talented singer.
Tommy Overstreet was the artist who originally recorded this song. Tommy Oliver covered it shortly after it became an international hit for Tommy Overstreet. Tommy Oliver re-recorded it in 2007 for his album "Grootste Treffers" CDCJ022 (Stetson Music)
It's called "That's When My Woman Begins" I was friends w/ TO in the 70s & 80s.Worked as crowd control during Fan Fair week in Nashville & went to his home in Brentwood TN. for dinner a few times. He had a band called The Nashville Express. Smiley Roberts played pedal steel & was the comedian.
Tommy was a friend. I worked for him & NatStuckey at Fan Fair in in the late 70s. I was in charge of crowd control. Tommy has since retired from the business & now lives in CA. My favorite of his songs is "That's When My Woman Begins" aka the bopeep song
He lived in Oregon at the end, and recorded a couple new songs in our recording studio. I had the pleasure of playing on stage with him a couple of times....what a constant pro, and a very sweet man! He adopted me as his kinfolk, I will forever miss my Uncle Tommy Overstreet.
Ya,Tommy's my great cousin by marriage he's a cousin of my aunt Shirley, he's the son of my aunts dad's brother 's son.I was told that he was a very nice person. I love his singing. Very good musician.
Rip Tommy what I m wondering is why there aren't any other videos of him singing, I'd loved to have seen woman to woman live. Love that song can we expect any in the near future. Would like to see it.
whoever paid the cameraman on this video should get their money back......he did a lousy job ...the camera is supposed to be showing what instrument is playing or whatever person or persons are singing at the moment....he did a crap job
