@Steven The Seagull Not at all! You need to actually see both movies to know how all got created because while all artists wish to become recognized, fame was not the only reason to create. That is exactly some of his crisis when the public laughed at his work. He was hurt at first when people didn't think the movie was a drama but more of a comedy! Artists do not get hurt unless they care how the public welcome the film. Fortunately for him it was a positive response despite it was not intended to be funny. Yes obviously that happened because of lack of experience but the only thing that artists can make that is catastrophic is to never have the courage to try and attempt to create despite self-doubt and fear! You don't know this unless you are an artist! Artist do not fail because they make bad art during their journey, artists fail because they give up before they master anything! Do you think Shakespeare or Steven Spielberg never made crap? They did! Nobody gets better without trying over and over.

The vision of an artist is something that develops as we grow and mature, it is not something artists just know since the moment we are born. It takes decades to find your own voice because it is a journey in itself to find what you love and what you are good at! That doesn't mean you are not a true artist! He discover that he was not great at making a drama plots and that maybe he is better at doing funny and super over the top stuff! So now he is embracing it! So what? Of course he is an artist he might not be mature yet as a film maker but you can't tell people they are not artists. That is the wrong concept that people have about talent and creativity and all art forms. It is not a magical power just some people posses and others do not. It is a skill that takes years to mastered and it is a journey of discovery, courage, and drive that lands only in success after countless of mistakes. Do all get to be masters? no! but can anyone get there? absolutely! It takes a tremendous amount of work and yes artists bloom only when they know themselves very well and when they are very focus. Having said that, that doesn't mean they are not artists already, they are just not fully develop! You do not know if this man tomorrow will become great at it. You just can't know! Michelangelo was not considered great by his friends and when did he became an artist? His first commission? his first master piece? his first sketch? when? The question is when they become professionals and when they become great at their own craft not when they are artists at heart? Telling people they aren't artists is telling them they can't get better at it! They can and they will if they decide to!
