i was actually there when i was 10 years old with my mother. we were not there for the rave, but when i heard the songs i was soo happy cause at that time rave/dnd were my favorite kind of music! :-D
@@MagnumDBI was 10 in 1999 and we had just emigrated from Bulgaria two years before. We heard Bomfunk MCs on the radio back home 😄 and we had just gotten internet and my brother and I downloaded whatever we could find on the web. Our parents took us to Tower Records and we got a DJ Icey mix CD and a Freestylers CD just off of vibes. A year later my best friend in middle school gave me his older brother's Tenaglia and Digweed CDs which we copied. The culture in NYC runs so deep. Thanks for the videos! ❤
These 99 Rave vids caused me to look up some 90's stuff like this that's still in print. I've been playing LTJ Bukem on repeat while I work, at home, in car etc... There's a new artist called "Pizza Hotline" and their current album (Level Select) is their first D&B album. It's more chill though.
Oh man good times. One of the first Raves I ever went to was Cybertek 3 in Roseland Ballroom around 99. So happy to have lived through this era of DnB and electronic music. Satellite, Breakbeat Science, DB, Dara, Love, Nasa, Limelight and Kids the movie.... feeling nostalgic to say the least.
MagnumDB - Thank You for bringing this to us here!! Massive Ups to the Legendary NYC Jungle Nation DJ's Paul C - DB - Dara - Delmar - I miss this NYC Vibe completely !!
Yep I went to one of those too & gave Soul slinger my brand copy of Locust by Ed Rush Trace & Nico to play, had to hear it haha and he played it, which was tres coll of him imo

i was 17 :D 99 !! realk talk bro the scene looks underground :D i came from germany here is the scene now mainstream.. damn !! but the jungle dnb scene is biig here in germany!! where you from? and do you still hear jungle?
I'd say this was majority techno ravers and hopefully we added jungle to their raving by the end, fun times big up Chrome, Blackkat, Johnny Z, MagnumDB and all who supported, a moment in time, fun times! :D
Nothing old school. You can check my channel for footage I shot seeing Andy C and The Prototypes and Fred V and Graphix and Crissy Cris. I WISH I had footage of me DJing at The Wetlands. Ugh, what an amazing night. We were downstairs, the small room. And something happened upstairs in the main room. No power, or something wasn't working - I'm not sure. But I was DJing downstairs when it happened so people began coming down to the room I was in and it got PACKED. My hands were SHAKING, I tell you. SHAKING! But I was so excited. Luckily, I had a set I knew I wanted to do and had practiced so I was able to mix without much problem (except when people insisted on taking to me while I tried to mix... causing me to miss cues). But what a night, what a night.
Wow this brings back alot of memories. I remember walking through the park during this and other raves. I was more of a hardcore punk kid but I know a lot of these guys. Not to many good memories but they are still my memories. I see caveman Danny. RiP Sal
Looking for a CD called c squat by DJ benji. I hope I'm saying that right. Someone gave me that CD in the park that year or maybe it was 2000. If anyone has a copy please let me know.
And when that bass line comes in for Peace, Love and Unity. OH MY GOD. Damn I miss the days before every dnb track used the same basslines as every dubstep track. Shit just sounds so lame these days but I guess it should since 99% of the people making it(DnB) use dubstep as a tutorial and they all use DAWS whereas cats like Roni Size, Dillinja, etc used hardware and software but a lot of hardware. "Producers" these days probably don't even know what the amen break is
Ohh? Dope thank you. Cause I still don’t recognize it. Do you know the track name? I’ll search through RollDaBeats for Teebee tracks and see if I hear this one. Thanks!
@deejaypaulc I've added those links to the info! Also, I finally IDd the 4th track (your third track) as Rebel MC ft. Top Cat - His Imperial Majesty. A couple more question marked tracks to go!
@@djpaulcfunkeddub3951 is that you?? if so I recently got a copy of manhatan calling and it was great(like all Bulletproof tapes) But now I'm on a mission to find more of your stuff from 90's-early '00s so if you have some links I'd really appreciate it.
@@brewcitymike1 'Tis I haha. Brilliant thanks for listening. Here is my www.soundcloud.com/djpaulc-1 www.mixcloud.com/dj-paul-c-nyc facebook.com/djpaulcnyc I have a other tape releases but haven't converted them to Digital as it's hard to get a hold of tape deck now, but I do have online mixes etc in those links & like the fan page for party info etc, thanks a million man Peace & Blessings
Wish I could help with the unidentified tunes. I've been trying to build the track list in the description. Paul C gave me a good chunk of the names I missed already, but I still need help!
Big thanks to Jungliest who a few hours ago ID'd the tune! It's "All Mighty" by Decorum. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zbe5Ssz8jGE.html
