Degan, you are such a fantastic and enthusiastic player. The closest I've ever come to not enjoying one of your videos was simply it if concern when you were recovering from illness and having a bit of trouble catching your breath.
Isn't it funny how our guitar heroes are mostly on RU-vid now and I'm glad its being kept alive. Daagans actually performing for 1000's of people every time they upload one of these videos
Dagan's enthusiasm just makes my day. I don't care how bad my day has been. When you look at his gleeful face, you just have a change of mood. Very similar to Eddie's smile on stage, it lifted moods!
You still need to amplify though. Ok for home through studio monitors if you have them and if they are powerful enough. Through a FR cab if you have one. Rely on every venue having stage monitors and a good engineer. A great bit of kit and great value but not a total solution.
What are we hearing you play through? A capture from a DAW on your laptop, or out through a PA system or an Amp cabinet ... what? what would this sound like through headphones on a laptop/PC and what are the basic system requirements for it to sound good on a PC?
I mention that I'm going straight into a PA System and running a line out of that into a dest to capture the recording in the video, and it sounds great straight out the box. Same if you were going to run it direct into an Audio Interface or straight into your computer via USB. You don't have to tweak or adjust any settings, you get that tone direct, no matter what.
sounds amazing, but do all those amps come with the default package, or are you expected to fork out on additional models? I got caught like that with the UA Apollo interface!
I’m not sure about the specific profiles he used but there are a lot of preloaded tones. A lot of people love the default ones but in general they’re not perfect. There are thousands of models that others have captured available for free and that’s all I’ve been messing with. A good place to start would be Jason Sadites captures. He offers a bunch of premium ($$) packages but there’s also free ones from each pack that you can try out. They’ve all been good in my experience. If you have any more questions let me know.
Where is the sound coming out from in this video? I have a stupid question: if you’re connected to an actual amp at your place, will it not change the sound of the presets you select on the app?
It will change the sound. Ideally you’d plug this pedal into the effects return on your amp. On the pedal you’d disable the cab simulation since the signal would be going through a real cab instead. So the change in sound is coming from the “change in cabs” just like you’d normally experience when trying out different cabs.
An idea for a video, compare a fender strat to the other look alike guitars. Like the Kramer in this one, but not if they look more like an Ibanez RG. So show the differences in body shape and neck shape. Seems like Kramer, ESP, Jackson, Fender, Schecter, and Sire would all be good examples.
So, please forgive my ignorance, I can't turn off the IR in this pedal and use just the amp sim by running it directly to the fx return on an actual amp and bypassing the preamp section?
You can do that. You just need to load an amp head that is already modeled without the IR or disable the IR in the software on the model that you want and load it onto the pedal. Then plug into the effects loop or however you get to a traditional cab.
Thank you very much. I could have done a better job of posing the question but you got it. This is a very interesting piece of gear, I'm going to give it a try.
