Two or three of these pedals still doesn't come close to = the Kemper PLAYER. ..and that's before a single update to the PLAYER....don't drink that beer to quickly. Guitarists will very quickly get bored of having only two tones at their feet with one footswitch.
I’ve had a pod go since Jan 2021, it was my first and only modeling unit. I’ve been adding analog pedals around it for 3 years now. Since then every 6 months some amp modeling product has released that I wanted to upgrade to, and in my head Mel Gibson has been screaming “hooold….HOOOLD”. This is it, time to charge ⚔️
I have been using the original Tonex since it was released. I gig 2 to 3 times a week and I have found myself only using two tone models in conjunction with analog stomp boxes. This is the perfect unit.
@@PaoloC. it handles overdrive pedals better than any other digital units on the market. I honestly send that is the best way to use the tone x. I use two overdrives and one fuzz pedal before it in my pedal board chain.
I mean… gotta get two of these at some point. How… have we come to this yall? 😅 they still sell strymon Iridium’s for 400€/$… this is just unbeatable it seems like. Fantastic.
If you could do midi via the usb, it would be the ultimate to have the 20 amp models and your switching device pick your model of those making stereo rigs killer for an unbelievable price. Also taking up so little space on your board. Winner!!!
I can't say this will not convince me to switch from my Helix, but makes me wonder what's around the corner even more. It wouldn't surprise me if Line 6 uses the Pod Express platform for future competitor to this Tonex. If Line 6 can make a stereo version that integrates with the HX software....
My friend, wanted to chime in about midi on amps. I do not use midi on amps but to control my HX Stomp. It may change a patch with midi. It may change a snapshot that controls the amp. Im not doing anything crazy, I may make a gain or volume change with a snapshot. I may also tweak an EQ on an amp if I do not have an EQ block.
Good morning! Does the website not register accounts from Brazil? I've tried to register several times and I can't. When I enter the password it always says that it is incorrect and when I try to recover it, even though I know I entered it correctly, the option to recover it does not appear in the email. I've already tried doing it with another email and it won't work either.
So would you recommend this as a good plug and play option? Meaning that besides having to load a capture and adjusting the input trim/eq, you wouldn’t have to constantly play with settings to make it sound good. I currently own a ToneX pedal but I’m not really satisfied with how it sounds. I’m a proud user of WT tone models and captures and love how they sound on the line 6 stuff, but I never could get my ToneX pedal to sound great like everyone hyped it up to be. Personally, I’m not a fan of scrolling through menus for hours so I never really bonded with my ToneX. I was considering selling it but I’d hate to lose a potentially great piece of gear just because of user error and the lack of time to sit down with it to finally find the right settings to adjust. I love the idea of the ToneX one (for my mini board project to use on Wednesday youth services) and it seems to not have as many settings as its big brother, I’m just not sure about it due to my experience with ToneX so far.
Question. Can i set up in A/B where, for example, A side is used for comp and gate and then uh oh my amp exploded, boom stomp it to side B for an amp rig. Basically amp sim on on side B and off in side A? Am I making sense?
We are recording the direct out of the Tonex pedal(s) here. You can see in the clips that the TONEX One’s are connected to a DISO line isolator, and then recorded direct via XLR out
Brian and Bradford, Great video as always! I’ve been looking for something that would function as an IR Loder on my board in order to run acoustic IRs for Sunday mornings. Could this run in A/B mode with one side running an amp, and another side running the IR? Blessings!
Pair it with the Pod Express and you've got an all-in-one rig that runs on battery power I have an HX Stomp and a tonex pedal but they don't fit in my pocket for travel and they don't run on batteries this could be your backup rig or your full rig
Very nice and interesting tiny pedal. If I didn't have the Tone X, I would have probably buy it (maybe I will still buy it one day). Regarding the "set and forget" approach, I do fully agree with you guys. I have the Fractal FM9 and even though I have more amps and cabs (a lot from you - WT) that I can think about it, I use the same preset(s) 80% of the time when I play at church (and live). So I can use this Tone X one with just one delay (hopefully Ik Multimedia will build a delay one pedal too, of the same size as the Tone X one), to play anywhere. Excellent job by IK Multimedia. I have only one advise to IK Multimedia. Please make the synchronization between the pedals and the software, more user-friendly (some time ago, I couldn't get my Tone X to be online and connect to the software. I got great help from Ik Multimedia to solve the issue). In this regard, Fractal and Line 6 do an excellent job (maybe other boards too, I have pinpoint the ones I have / use). Great review WT 🎸.
Sometimes flipping phase still does not completely phase align 2 separate signals from 2 separate amps/modelers. I would REALLY like to figure out how to straighten this out without some convoluted/over complicated solution.
Yes this is an issue. You’d need something like the Little Labs IPB (which is stand-alone hardware or available as a UA plugin). It lets you rotate phase in 360 degrees.
Pair it with a pod Express and you have a rig that fits in your two pockets and runs on batteries I already have an HX Stomp and a tonex pedal and they are an amazing combination but you can't run them on batteries and they're about three times larger this should basically be everybody's backup solution in case an amp goes out or as just your main rig
@latenight5865 0초 전 Thank you very much for this video! I am thinking about buying this for my semi acoustic bass to imitate upright bass tone as much as possible, utilizing 3rd party ir from double bass, and reverb & eq. I was wondering if I could blend dry signal through Tonex one for more natural sound. Is it possible with tonex one software?
TONEX ONE is nice! Guitar processors can make a big difference in sound depending on the CAB IR you use. actually there are many IR products on the market, but I think DYNAX IR has the best sound. As stated in their product description, DYNAX IR is really fast. When using IRs, the pick attack is sometimes delayed, and it is difficult to add picking nuances, but their IR prevents all of that. It's revolutionary!
Great video guys! Is it possible to copy the same ampsettings/captures multiple times in the software? So that you can, for example, arrange a group of amps one after the other in browse mode, which then simply repeats itself? Then the navigation and orientation in browse mode might be easier and you could easily store 4 or 5 captures without being lost... For example 4 amps/captures as a group copied 5 times in a row on 20 banks. (ABCD / ABCD / ABCD / ABCD / ABCD ) . Is this possible with the pedal? I'm super new to amp modeling but this pedal could be my start ;-). Best
@7:35 @bmitchellmusic Agreed about the MIDI statement for this pedal (size). Ofcourse it doesn't fit and is not the purpose of this partucilar product. But hear me out, why I think it could be useful on this kind of product. You could store multiple captures of the same amp with different gain stages and cycle through these, using MIDI, in a live situation. You will lose flexibility, but if you have found your, let's say, 3-5 stages of overdrive, you could drop the overdrive section of your board and just do it with the tonex. When your using it as a 'stompbox' overdrive pedal, it could also be great to switch it with MIDI
You guy's always do great videos on stuff. This is, well, like you said, revolutionary! lol, Now my question is how would it sound with an FRFR cab? As for stereo IMO, most people run mono in a 'live' situation but at this price point & functionality, getting 2 for a stereo rig is plenty doable.
I'd love a revised version with a tiny little screen that hurt shows Numbers for your sound banks.... where you could scroll througha bunch of presets. That's got to be doable for like $10 extra.
Is there a lot of background noise when using the pedal alone with headphones? The larger version is unfortunately very loud with humming and noise. Just like many similar products that do not have their own grounding like the kemper player. I am still looking for a quiet product for playing only with headphones 😉
This is fetish of boxes. It's stupid to put that dsp power without having the control over it. Put this tone in a Zoom G1X interface and make it dirt cheap. But people are not buying tone, they are buying shiny metal boxes.
I really wish IK could implement something like the kemper has that standardizes the latency time between two captures and ensures that both signals hit the DAW at the same time. Partial phase issues drive me absolutely nuts! Would love to see a video on how you guys go about correcting the latency that occurs when using two amps/sound sources.
I would like to see a double switch and flip it over pre sets....may not be as practical the way it is, that's my perception after watching a few demos.
When you enter browse mode by pressing the foot switch and alt button you can then use the foot switch to cycle through all 3 slots, essentially giving you 3 presets to easily use live.
can it be use in a pc rig? use bias fx for example, but using tonex in the rig, and hear it at studio monitors?cIm only a bedroom guitarist, but i like sound good hahahah
Excellent video and explanation of the pedal. Got mine coming in the mail soon. Thanks for the rundown of the sounds and how to use it. Tones sound great
@@worshiptutorials You have a choice of two amp captures to switch between. And a third if you have the time to bend down and change modes during a gig but in that new mode you only have the third amp until you switch back to the original two amp mode....correct...so three amps maximum between the two modes?
@@guitartoneSA plus the additional banks you can navigate to as well, if I’m not mistaken. I think the guys here did a pretty good job demonstrating that if you’re going to need a million different captures per gig, stick with the big Tonex. If you only need 1-3, this guy would be perfect.
Been shopping for an amp cab sim for a little while including ToneX, Walrus ACS1, and UA (Ruby + Dream) to run in stereo. So glad I waited. This is perfect for me. Price is right, it's a space saver, I can buy two of them, and have money left over to possibly get a stereo blender like the GFI Duophony.
Technically you could do this if you had two captures: one of just the amp, and the other capture of the amp with an overdrive in front of it. Then you could switch between those two captures. But you can't have an amp capture and then turn on an overdrive capture while the amp is still on (unless you had two Tonex One's)
