There’s been a few more AC30’s released since I made this video but this one still holds up well! My new fav is definitely Tone Factor’s AC30 6TB. Search for it on ToneNet!
Thanks for the tip Harry! I figured there was a way to adjust the volume per preset but I JUST got the pedal and didn't bother to dive deep yet. But I'll do that for sure.
@@thetoneshepherd I will personally avoid the KPA tone models and other ones that just capture a Kemper. I would recommend Amalgam because his captures from Marshall, Fender and AC30 are superb.
@@xogmusic Honestly Harry, good call. It's starting to be a bit of an ethical conundrum with all these captures, isn't it? And how is one to know that it's from a Kemper? No one has to write "KPA" on it, ya know?
I already subscribed to your channel, i find that your videos are more "honest" than other creator, and I can say that you did a great job. By the way, have you also tried the UA Ruby as your option for AC30 amp to add on your pedalboard?
I appreciate the kind words Kevin. Yes, I have tried the Ruby and Dream combo (among many other options). The UA pedals are great units, but in the end, the ToneX won out for me. You can check out this video to see where I ultimately landed ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p43gUb3T9Ag.html
These tones all sound nice, very usable for sure. WT patches are hard to beat. I’ve had their Bethel patch (Helix) for awhile and have tweaked it (mostly EQ) for all of my different guitars. I would like to get David H’s patch and probably will next time it goes on sale… just to compare. Thx, good job 👍🏽
What IRs do you use? I did the same thing with that same preset and made it my own sound with tweaks and using different effects. But I did change the IRs to David Hislop bethel patch ir’s. Wondering how good TM ir’s would pair with it 🤔
@@BlackWolfTribe - for the WT Bethel patch, I’m actually using the new (ver 3.5) Helix cabs. To be honest I have made so many changes to the orignal patch it’s really not the WT version except for the basic snapshot layout and global functions.
I'm going this frustration right now with the ToneX One. That is auditioning dozens and dozens of captures. The one good one I've found thus far in the standard free package is the Matchless DC 30. I did want to find a good Fender Deluxe clean. Tone Junkie seem to have some really good ones. But in general, clean captures tend to be very hard to get enough gain to get to the edge of break up or get them loud enough. I did like some of the free non IK AC30's. Will like to try WT AC3O versions.
If you follow me on Instagram, check my "Highlights" on my profile page and click through the "Z80" highlight to find a free capture of my Dr Z Z-80. It's becoming one of my all time fav clean AC30-like captures. I also offer various other captures on my site you may enjoy. I love a great clean/EOB tone so I think you'll be happy!
Great video - can you identify the patches you used for the Strymon Bigsky, Timeline, and Mobius? I assume you're using these on the video. Thanks for your time!
@@thetoneshepherd You could forgive the fx loop debate going on right now but the mono input is so bad. Also, using the stereo out's into wet effects makes the headphone output obsolete. The mind boggles!
You don't need they stereo, just insert the tone in the loop of hx stomp or ampero or any multi and the sound si amaizing and stereo, priceless for that sound worth it!
I’m not sure one can go wrong with the Cremas! But I’ll be doing a pickup shootout video shortly comparing the Cremas, El Rayos, and Fralin PAFs. Stay tuned!
Hey Jay, sorry it deceived ya! To my primary audience, this title fits right in, but I can see where you're coming from. I'll consider tweaking it. Thanks.
Tone Factor's captures are slightly darker by default just because of how they captured them. However, I think you can discover, the more time you spend with them, that because they're darker they actually sit in a mix in a more pleasing way. You can also use brighter verbs and brighter overdrives to get some of that clarity back. But if you still want something brighter, my captures are slightly brighter and I have some similar amps as what they offer.
Its intresting how the AC30 has been taken as the sound to rock to god.....well its kind of the whole u2 vibe has been taken in some way...half epic half romantic....kind of odd but its kind of cool
There are definitely other amps that work well, but the AC30 has a unique tone that is well suited for rock as well as ambient clean sounds. It also makes for a good pedal platform which is important for this genre.
So I like stereo amps too. Either two of these Tonex units or an FM9? I’m torn. Any advise? I received the FM9 invitation so it is not like I need to wait long for either….
I’ll be getting my second ToneX pedal soon so I’ll let you know my thoughts then. Both the FM9 and a pedalboard with ToneX are great options. Certainly there’s more flexibility with the FM9 though
Which IR did you use in Ac30 pure ? Do I have to load an IR? I maked the download on tonex but it's without cabinet. I am Brazilian and I didn't understand...
I have a question about TONE X. Is this input only mono? or is it Stereo since I want to buy one to run at the end of my stereo chain but I would like to anticipate if the input does accept TRS plugs
This pedal only accepts a MONO input, so you cannot run this at the very end of your stereo chain. I put my stereo wet effects AFTER this pedal. It has stereo outputs because it does have built-in stereo reverb if you want to use it (which I am not). It’s very unfortunate in my opinion and one of the main drawbacks of this device. I would have to purchase two of these to do what I really want to do with it.
@@thetoneshepherd still sounds nice the way you have it in this video. but yes now that I have seen how good the amps are and how they can take effects real well (using the plug in version) I am like shoot. 2 may be the move. still cheaper than 2 kempers to accomplish the same thing
@@ZacharyRyanMusic89- Yea, for the price of 2 ToneX boxes ($798)… you’re still in it for less than half of ONE Kemper or QC. And a big benefit here would be - when playing live - having a spare at all times.
Hi! I have helix floor, but I want to buy tonex to use it with helix in loop, and I hope, this pair will be much more better, in way of sounding and flexibillity, then just helix. Do you agree with me? What is your opinion? Thanks! Greetings from Ukraine!
I have an HX Effects and rund a Tonex in the Loop. It sounds much better than the amps in Helix Native. Takes in Pedal drives from the HX quite well. Takes a bit of tweaking though to get things right for your setup. I really prefer my setup to a Helix Floor.
Danilo, are you asking if MTStudio has more content or telling us they do? I certainly like their AC30 so it would be great if they offered other stuff. I've not been able to find much more info about them though.
As a follower of Jesus, I do often struggle with convictions that I have too many possessions. It's certainly something I hold in tension and bring to Jesus and not am always sure I handle rightly. I tithe and give of my time and talent and try to leverage my possessions for the Kingdom (thus a resource like The Tone Shepherd), but I likely don't do it all right. How have you handled this tension in your own life with the possessions you own?
@@Fizzzim There’s no way that I know of to maintain a stereo signal with wet effects BEFORE the ToneX without using 2 ToneX pedals. Which is why I bought a second one. 🫣
Try putting FX in front. I feel like doing it that way, your FX take the character of the amp. When putting FX after the amp, the FX kinda have their own flavor that gets put on top of your tone.
@@thetoneshepherd I ended up putting the tonex in the effects loop of my stomp and creating patches with three different amps per snapshot mode and channel changing using midi, ot sounds great
I was informed later that there’s a volume control per preset. Didn’t know about that before I short the video but that may be helpful for others to be aware of too.
The ToneX pedal has a mono input and stereo output. So you can only run mono effects into the front of a single pedal. To run stereo fx into the pedal, you need two. You can always choose to run your stereo effect AFTER the ToneX pedal, however. That way, you can use a single pedal. It just doesn't have the tone that I, personally, go for by doing that.
What style is praise and worship. You mean frustrated rhythm players playing over top the vocals that sound like they are in a cave. Or could it be any style that's giving God the glory.
Correct. Which is why I own two amps. In my opinion, for the sound I'm after, dual amps is how I get there. But there are plenty of amazing tones to be had in mono, don't get me wrong!
A few reasons why real amps are less practical than modelers: 1) amps are heavy 2) amps make stage volume too high at certain venues 3) amps are generally more prone to failure 4) recreating your ideal settings, mic & mic position every time on an amp is harder. Just food for thought. But thanks for your opinion!
@@thetoneshepherd 99% from the guys who are not rockstars dont need to take on road heavy stack amps....second those modelers are cool for recording, but yet nothinh to comparess to the dinamic of amp-in-the-room feeling as a guitar player. Actually i use modelers myself for my youtube channel ,so i totally agree with the points you mention above...but still i ask myself why i m using marshall preset insted of real marshall.thats drivung me crazy each time...but guess it add more to the amp collections i collect with the years. Great demo and awsime channel by the way! Thanks for replayin man keep playin killer stuff like you do
Yes, find a pedal that is the epitome of the biblical interpretation of the son of god. Worship with a simulation...isn't that an odd sideways idolatry process?
For this demo it’s: Compressor > Overdrives > ToneX > Modulation > Delay > Reverb. But I prefer the ToneX last in my chain. I’ve since purchased a second ToneX pedal and all my FX are in front. Check out my recent cover video “Deliverer (North Point Worship)” to hear my new full rig with the stereo ToneX’s: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F6lW4s19zvI.html
