Sounds great! The direct comparison is extremely helpful, thank you for making that effort. For me personally, hearing what you think of it after live use, is of even more interest, looking forward to that!! Subscribed :)
TONEX through two clean amps killed yesterday at rehearsal, just had to turn off the cab ir and I used my own capture of my rack mounted Marshall 9001 pre, 9005 stereo power amp at three settings, crunch, lead, and lead+Tony Iommi treble booster… perfect tone and feel, live. Stoked. I had all of my usual pedals before and after the TONEX.
The reason I still use amps, most of the time for gigs, is because I would bring monitors for myself anyways for my digital stuff, because I don’t trust hearing things properly through other monitors. So I just realized if I’m bringing gear, I might as well bring the amps .
On the first tone, The real amp feels more pleasant to hear that the tonex version, I don’t know exactly why, but I Hear a piercing high frequency that I usually hear on digital amps, great video
The highs are sweeter on the real amps.... It's aliasing.... But it isn't so bad that it ruins it. There just is a difference... It's not quite ideal.... But it is still very, very good!
Sounds really good. My only concern is the lack of an effects loop. If a run a tone capture of a dirty Marshall, i would have to have a delay before the amp if i want to use the usb interface or even the headphones out.
If you get a delay pedal that has balanced outputs...like the X-Time or the DL4Mk2...then you could just put that after the ToneX Pedal in your. chain....or put any Delay and/or Reverb pedal after it and just use a DI
@@TSFAHTPS Well, that's what they want us to do, to combine it with other of their pedals. I'd love to use this as my only usb interface and with the headphones. I'd buy it in an heartbeat if it had the effects loop or at least 1 delay. It's just a shame that is not an all in one unit with such a good modelling/capturing. It sounds really good and for me even worth considering as a really good clean platform for pedals as an excellent alternative to the iridium or ua dream. Solid pricing, will most likely sell like hotcakes.
@@CarlosFerreiraOfficial it is an oversight, I’d bet there’ll be a mkii version next year, but for the price it’s extremely tempting. I plan to give in as soon as it’s in stock anywhere! Lol
It's not the same as putting delay in the loop, but putting delay after the cab (like in a studio setting on a desk) is another useful approach so not a total no go for some producers. Probably wouldn't play well with a Memory Man D or something (or maybe it would?) but for a more pristine delay might still be good to go.
Let's see a quick 5 / 10 min video of Chorus, Phaser, etc in FRONT of this and maybe some delay or other after the pedal to see what this can do / sound like? Would love to see that. Nobody I have seen has done this yet and I am very curious to find out. Thank you in advance! 👍
Mostly sounded great, though I thought it often lacked depth. Really interested to see how it sounds amp in the room rather than through studio monitors.
In all honesty it sounded and felt pretty much the same as the amp…I genuinely don’t think I’d really notice that it’s not an amp! In saying that I’m used to hearing my amps through my studio monitors or IEMs. I’ve been using Two Notes Cab sims live and in the studio for years now…
Conceding that there is a lot of loss through RU-vid's compression and everything along the way, it's quite difficult to tell the difference between the amp and the capture for me. I bet if you really spent a lot of time tweaking the input gain and such you could get them nearly identical. Seems like a winner.
Thanks for the demo. Do you think if the signal clips when you increase the level or volume on the overdrive pedal? When I use an overdrive in front of Tonex via audio interface, I think the signal clips. So, wondering if the Tonex pedal is different.
Hmmm, nice video! BUT! I´ve got a problem with the Torpedo Live, because of the lack of the interaction between the speaker and the poweramp-section of the real thing! Try to compare the sound of the Torpedo with, or without a connected cab! The difference is HUGE! To my ears the Torpedo without connected cab sounds flat!, there is missing dynamics and brightness! It would have been a better comparison, if you´ve captured the tone-models with real cabs and microphones and compared it with the amp-cab-microphone-setup! Just sayin´. Very decent comparison, the only thing I don´t like, is the Torpedo-live! Maybe it´s just me? 😅🤷 The "less gain" thing is because of the input-level of the Tonex-pedal! If you´d adjust it, it sounds almost the same!
comes with 150 captures, I noticed the difference is probably what mic people used etc. There is one in particluar called RIBBON which used a ribbon and it sounds vastly different than the rest. There are enought good options to be worh the cash in the pedal as it sells.
I’m not sure…DJ City had all the X-Series pedals so I’m guessing they will stock the ToneX too! Gsus4 also Carrie’s a lot of IK Multimedia gear! You can order directly from IK too…their shipping is usually really quick…when they send us stuff anyways…and I’m pretty sure the prices are pretty much the same worldwide
You can just use it like any other pedal and add overdrives or reverbs or delays before or after the ToneX Pedal! In a live scenario just make sure you either use a delay/reverb with balanced outputs…like the IK X-Time or a Line6 DL-4 Mk2…otherwise go from the delay/reverb into a DI and then into the PA
I don’t think that’s what it’s meant to be…it’s a tool to make it easier for you to get all your gear to gigs or rehearsals or even recording sessions! I’ve been taking it to gigs instead of my amp and it sounds and feels pretty much identical to what my amp sounded like…it responds pretty much the same as my amp to my pedals…it’s a stripped down, more affordable version of a Kemper or Quad Cortex…without all the effects…but to me it sounds and feels pretty much the same - if not better - than a Kemper or Quad Cortex!
@TheSuperFunAwesomeHappyTimePedalShow does it have a built in power amp? Am I missing something? If it's another preamp pedal that just goes straight to FOH... I'd rather have a normal amp. Stage volume matters.... unless you're playing arenas.
Dude, I need this box! EL84's or 6L6's? Carbon free? Are the frequencies copacetic? Is it transgender friendly? Can it get Eddys "negro sound?" Asking for a friend
