Toni Braxton Vocal Analysis 

I love Toni Braxton because she shows you don't have to belt F5s and above for days ti he a good singer. Her lower register and dark quality is such a breath of fresh air in a culture of scream queens. That's probably why people confuse her as a contralto, because she chooses to focus on the mid to lower end of her voice. Thanks again for an interesting video

You're on the roll Dileesa! I love it when you keep making videos like this cuz I love your vocal analysis videos! I didn't know that Toni can go all the way up to a G6! I thought her highest note was like a C#6 or something. I agree with you when you said that pop music favors lighter and lyrical voices cuz they usually have the money notes. I think that dramatic voices in general are extremely rare and I have yet to hear a true dramatic soprano or tenor or anything like that in pop music.

Dileesa, since we're on the subject of deep, dark voices, is there a possibility you could analyze T-Boz voice? I've always heard TBoz can sing higher but Jermaine Dupri suggested she stays with the tone she's been known for. Now, growing up in the 90s, her voice was soo different than all the other ladies, Mary J Blige etc. TBoz was something special in my opinion. Now, if you put her in the same realm as Ciara LOL, I'd be okay with that.

thanks for educating us because I know very little about voice classifications. However, I love Toni's voice. It is beautiful. Her signature voice on love song, especially the heart break ones' is the "truth". Her vocal tone creates a mood and expresses a story with such realness even without proper enunciation. However, I do wish that she would mumble a little less so she could vocally embrace us with the clarity of the words in addition to the beauty of her voice.

actually she got the style of singing from Babyface when he initially produced her first album.... she even admitted that he was making her sing his style of singing.... if you listen to Babyface he sings in that same style of mumbling but eventually she found her way and her own voice.... but it was definitely babyfaces technique that encouraged her way of singing

I have been studying her a bit lately, and I tried to create the same supported breathing and larynx lowering technique. I get the sound, but it kind of hurts after a while lol (and it is after only maybe like a couple songs). How does one sing this way with coloring technique that doesn't require you to manipulate the place of the larynx and make the supported breathy sound?

Hey Dileesa, just started watching your videos for the past 3/4 weeks and they and you are dope. I was wondering tho could you possibly do (another/proper) vocal Analysis for Whitney Houston. I know she's one of your faves from the Rise and Fall video you did but i must admit you spent most of that answering questions that had little to do with Whitney and her Voice. so yeah if you could do a detailed one id love that and / or even a "sing like Whitney Houston" video as hard as that may be as her timbre was one of her greatest assets. but yeah. an up to date vocal analysis would be great. other then that keep up the good work! :)
