What is your opinion on sticking weights to ones chassis and the effects on flex? For example, brass plate under battery and/or lead weights up towards the front or rear of chassis. Thank you for your time.

Khris Stanton i think a brass battery under the lipo is no problem (when the plate is attached to the battery case) as long as the batterie still has some play on the chassis! Using weights is necessary most of the time so no problem. Sometimes when you have weights you can screw onto the chassis you can use a 0.2 shim to have it slightly over the chassis!

what you said around 8'00, when u r pointing to the inner side of the camber link, pretty sure it's the opposite. more shims, higher on the inside of the camber link, HIGHER roll center. this is more consistent with the diagram u drew too.

Hi and thanks for your comment. But in this case i am 99,9% sure about it! Going up with the camber link on the inside and outside by the same amount = Lower Rollcenter Going down with the camber link on the inside and outside by the same amount = higher Rollcenter Lowering the Suspension arms= lower Rollcenter Raise the suspension arms= higher Rollcenter Thats what i know about it and what i could read in the Speed Secrets book and in the Hudy Setup book as well! I think i only forgot to say that you have to go up or down with the camber links by the same amount on the inside and outside to change the rollcenter that was my fault you are right! By the way: Changes on the suspension arms are more noticeable as changes on the camber links as the rollcenter changes more! Have a great day and a lot of fun on the track !

​@@patrickbeckrc2113 Thank you very much for this video and the very good explanations! Its very good to know about the effects to the car caused by the roll center changes. I am currentyl learing about settings on my cars as well, but for sure I want to know about what I'm doing, before testing it out :) I believe the difficulty in understanding comes up as your diagram shows the lower wishbone angled downwards (looking from center to tire). Looking on our RC's - at least on onroad race cars under load - the lower wishbone will be angled upwards (looking from center to tire). This causes the lower line to infinity in the diagram going in the opposite direction and therefore adds consitency to your upper link explanation. If I may also add some information from different sources: - changing the angle of the lower and upper wishbone will influence the camber under load. So the initial camber should be corrected. Finding the correct camber can be read on the tire wear. - diagrams are often incorrect and therefore confusing. So looking at various sources is necessary. I want to add one (quite general) question to you about setup: How do you start setting up you car on a track? I mean you get to the track with a let's say basic setup, take a drive and you don't feel well with your car. Which settings are the first that you usually tweak? Let me just throw in some: shock positions, camber, toe in, ride heights, droop, rollcenter, stabilizer, differential, shock oil weight, spring rate,... As most of these can cause understeer/ oversteer in general, maybe you can explain, at which conditions which setting acts mainly. This would help a lot to not "tune the car slower" :D Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience - getting all of us faster :)
