The CPU intensive part of Genome seems to be the CODEX module (which loads the NAM profiles), which used to be stereo by default (so very CPU hungry), and that can now be defaulted to mono. Not saying you're wrong, but just saying Genome, when CODEX is in mono, could very well be not more CPU intensive than all the other NAM loaders (including tonocracy) out there. I don't know if someone has tested that since the recent Genome update with the CODEX mono mode.

Use a high pass at about 200hz maybe even 300hz before this for near enough the same affect as a Precision drive.

Aah, i actually have an entwistle darkstar neodimium something aswell, i knew this sounded familiar! These cheap pickups are awesome, the precision and clarity for a passive pickup for this price is insane! Almost like an active in some ways

Do they plan to make a modeller with tonocracy? Do you have any info about that?

@@rosthariton7930 I only know that Atomic are creating a successor to their amplifire pedals that will be able to run NAM; I imagine it will be running this software. Moreover, it's really the only way this being free makes any business sense, too.

@@resington couldn't get it to sound that great in my setup, especially heavy distortion wasn't doing the trick. I'm sure it's just a user error on my side, but I just prefer other plugins

@@ayeapprove There is a learning curve with NAM profiles, regardless of what you use to load them (the NAM player, Tonocracy, Genome, etc). It can be hit and miss depending on the profile you load and the rest of your chain, and you need to learn how to tweak it (pre EQ or just changing IR / mic position to the rescue sometimes) or just reach a different profile that works better for your current situation. NB : when facing a NAM profile that doesn't sound right at first : learning how to make it work is a great exercise btw

Apparently there is hardware coming. It makes sense to use this as a way to get folks into the ecosystem ala Tonex, then sell them the hardware.

After that, "Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for RACE License Support Win64"... this install iLok License Manager. Without these, tonocracy doesn't work. Well, it is not completely free like NAM. Unless there is a pirated version :)

Do you work for Neural DSP?

@@resington No, I do not like most neural network based plugin in general, like the ones of Neural DSP, Mercuriall or ML Sound Lab. Apart from some, whyever better sounding exceptions, like eg. (some of) my own ToneX models. But I would not even use my own ToneX models, If I alternatively could use the real amps for recording. This technology (neural amp modeling) is not capable of giving you 100% authentic results, even if you do everything right. Maybe in 10 years. But, as far as I saw, the built-in plugins anyway are not neural network, but circuit based and for such ones they simply do not convince me much. Not really 2024 state-of-the-art for me. My Nembrini and Softube Plexis sound much less noisy, much more authentically and more naturally, so why should I then bother around with a worse, but noisier and more synthetically sounding alternative? Not to speak of using my own Plexi based tube amps instead, which all work much less noisy even without any noise gate, even for recording. This plugin could have been a good one, theoretically, but as it is, it is an amateur fail for me, sorry. Others do a much better, more professional job. At least for me. If I adjust a noise gate in ToneX, it removes all noise, but the sound never starts pumping or is cut-off, in most of my other favorite plugins I do not even need a noise gate, as long as I do not use a 5150, VH-4, Rectifier or Savage 120. Hardly ever I needed one for a Plexi with medium Volume settings only. Apart from Tonocracy and then the noise gate does not even do, what it should. Not to speak of the increased, but hardly removable noise, if I use even a decently adjusted overdrive pedal in front. Any real 1959 or JMP-50 with a SD-1 in front is much more silent, if directly miked. So, is the problem my personal impression alone or just an amateurish, unprofessional programming? At the moment Tonocracy is dead and useless for me, can amateur toy but certainly no winner whereever, whyever, but maybe an update will change my impression... ....somewhen.

​@@resington I already have much better sounding freeware plugins, some even decades old, but if you are happy with these noisy toy tones, I certainly have no problem with it.
