this legend in his 90's now has severe Alzheimer’s and can't remember his wife sometimes but people all around him say as soon as the music starts he automatically snaps back into performer mode and knows all the beats and lyrics to his songs. He sounded amazing on the recent special with him and Lady GaGa that was recorded in august this year. unbelievable voice at his age.
Just a few days back I was explaining my elder father how I didn't care about Sinatra as an actor but I loved him as a singer and that much of that was due not just to his voice but to the songs, the lyrics, so grounded in true experiences that you listen to them and you can't keep from smiling, nodding and thinking "what a great song". As long as we remain human they will be timeless.
RIP Mr. Bennett. The last great singer of the American songbook. I was fortunate to see him in concert. We were always told by Fitzgerald, "There are no 2nd acts in American lives" well he never met Tony Bennett.
Everyone throws that quote in Fitzgerald's face but he was talking about initial freshness and appeal to the public. Tony was nostalgia in his second act.
... noticed that he keeps him 'really light;' ... one of his conversations with Larry King which read reader's digest asian edition during mid 90s ... the article was about Larry King's way of " how to talk to anyone anytime anywhere" ... in which one of the rule to talk is to " ' keep it light ' " , which i think Sinatra told him during Larry King's radio career
Love this interview, adore Tony Bennett’s love for life, passionate energy and dazzling glamorous charm. One of the best to ever entertain on the live stage and what a painter. His voice is so soothing to listen to. Great storyteller, and best friends with Frank Sinatra among so many others. ❤️♥️ 😍🥰😘🤩🌟✨ 👑 💎 🏆⚜️
