Or it shows that people are so quick to want to be offended and have a reaction, that they don't understand Keane was comparing Haaland to a league two player based on his poor performance in a single match for the way he couldn't control a ball and let it run under his feet and did nothing in the match. When people say things like "school boy defending" they aren't actually saying the players are only as good as school boys, but I don't see Tony getting super defensive about those comments It's the same type of comparison, just based on a single performance or moment and not his overall ability or career so far.

With respect, yesterday City played (and battered) Wolves. Keane made his League 2 comment after the Arsenal game. It was a tad harsh, but the point remains that apart from being an elite goalscorer, when playing against title contenders/elite European opposition, Haaland can improve his game a lot!

I agree his build up play looks clumsy at times but cant doubt the mans positioning and finishing. So keane has a point.

@peptalk7658 I never said he's a league 2 player. I guess you don't read the full comment. However, the stats don't lie. This season he has scored 6 goals against the "big 6". And four of those were against Man U and Chelsea who are having horrible seasons. Everyone scores against those two lol. Then, in the Champions League , he scored one lonely goal after the last 16 stage in his entire Man City career so far. Meaning, when he faces the real strong teams i.e. Real Madrid, he dissapears. 42 goals in a championship League and most of them against low-level teams. Mostly in the early stages against the FC Copenhagens of the world.

he disappers due to city not feeding the ball. its as simple as that.. in big games to an even larger degree they play their tippy tappy control game, a type of football which the worst possible for haaland. if he is to function he need is a manager/side who play to his strenghts, meaning through balls in transitions. atleast for moments in a game. if they did this he would 65-70+ in a season uninjured

he won`t improve in those other areas significantly. the level in those areas is due to talent and work done growing up/teens, what he need is a manager/side who play to his strenghts. this guy is extremely good when the ball is moving rapidly forward, play him when the ball is won in transitions.... as of now he not even present in many of them due to being on own goal set piece duty, simple things like that

If anything it was Haaland who commented on Keane first after a game last season as fans were all singing Keano to Haaland in a match after Haaland had scored 😂 (which was just fans having a bit of banter with Haaland after he celebrated in front of them) Keane with Utd had dominated the PL in his time whereby the incidents had happened with Haalands father in a game whereby he was pulling Keane up off the pitch when he was clearly down injured at the time and as we all know Keane seeked his on reputution then by hacking Haaland down in a follow on game, by the way Keanes comments here are also taken completely out of context just for talksport and Tony to generate some clicks. The TOTAL number of goals that ManCity scores is not going to be increased because Haaland is there. He just takes away the number of goals his teammates could have scored. English fans and a lot of casual fans overrate G/A and efficiency. They forget that where do G/A comes from. They are from build up play. If you have a high G/A but you don’t have much build up play contribution, it means that you are just taking the G/A from your teammates, because the TOTAL overall G/A of your TEAM, won’t increase if you don’t add more build up play into it. ManCity were just unlucky in the previous seasons. Last season, they would have won the treble with or without Haaland. Last season both Saliba and Tomiyasu were injured, Arsenal had to play Holding and they have to lower the defensive line by 20 metres because he has no pace and no technicality. It completely changed how they play.

They play differently than with a false 9 and Haaland has made them less predictable, more direct. The funny thing to is Haaland and City as a relationship is still young and it will continue to improve. If you’d watch Haaland on the build up play he is improving all the time.

With Aguero, ManCity was more unpredictable because he would roam around to positions that you would not expect him to be in. No matter how Haaland would improve, he will never be half as skillful, tricky, silky or tekky as Aguero or Suarez.
