How is an offside "factual" by VAR? We get to see an image rendition of a toe passing a line defined by the defenders position. But that means nothing when we do not see where the ball is at the same instant. Is the ball somewhere in the air, then the image means nothing, because you cannot run into an offside after the ball has already been passed to you. And if the player passing still has the ball in their possession, then it means nothing as well, since it cannot be before the pass is made that you can stand offside.

I think, had the very similar VAR-decisions of yesterday's game between Germany and Denmark been given in favor of the English team, it would have been the greatest and most righteous decisions of course. I did not think, that the neighboring "would" in Germany's first goal, was right to deny the goal (1:0, Germany), I do think a two cm offside is not enough to deny Denmark's goal (1:1), and I did not notice the handily either. However: the handplay lead to a deflection of the ball and that is a handplay. So however one turns all the rules: the present rules have been established and all the VAR decisions are justified through VAR. I also do not like the run up to a free kick to be altered, it should be a fluent motion, that leads to a goal being scored. I also noticed, that the aggressive pulling and shoving above the waistline has dramatically increased. I do not like all that, but what a great game it was after all!

Was it ever illegal in the history Laws of the Game to stop or feint your run-up in the penalty kick? Then Laws of Game used to be based on precedent and practice (Common Law). People didn't like that, so it seems that we are moving towards codifying the Laws.

With VAR it is much easier to tell the difference between deliberate and accidental handball. The latter should not lead to a foul, especially a penalty.

VAR has been great all tournament long. Untill English refs get involved.

I don´t think it´s bad refereeing so much as the handball rule is difficult to interpret in the way it´s written. In the current way the rules are written, it´s a justifiable decision.

Agree completely with the "over reward" notion. That is a big problem with the rules, not adjusting the consequences after introducing VAR that confuses milimeter justice with a game of football.

VAR annoys me so much, we see in every game shirtpulling in and out of the penalty area (which is a blatant foul) and nothing happens. Yet a penalty was given for that handball. VAR is ruining football

That penalty was a complete over reward for what the action was. It was a rubbish cross that nicked the hand of the defender and made no difference to where the ball was going to go. Maybe they should look at indirect free kicks for these sorts of infringements.

The hand ball of the Denmark player doesn't change the trajectory of the ball direction so it was very harsh but by the rules it is a penalty

I thought VAR was brought in to helps refs with 'clear and obvious errors', that's not the case as it just polices every decision of the game.

Being German I agree with all the other comments. Denmark was hard done by, but also a few actions from the german team have been destroyed by overanalyzing and dissecting players every moves.... Var might be good in a few situations, but if you use it in every second of every game, FIFA will destroy the game

Up to storm Denmark were getting in the game and exposed their defence so I don't think anyone should worry too much about them, If Sane is playing, it's good because he doesn't score, they will have issues against England, Spain or Portugal

off side is off side. that s what var is for. where do you draw the line for off side? the line is the line. football players know the line. the hand ball is controversial. germany should have gotten at least one penalty against switzerland. i think they need to be a lot stricter about players grabbing, holding players with the arms and hands. i hate seeing it and i am seeing it a lot sometimes. more in the switzerland/germany game than germany/denmark. they shouldn t hand out penalties too easily. where switzerland took down beier, and beier would have scored a goal a penalty should have been given. but yesterday in denmark vs germany it wouldn t have made sense to use the hand in that case. that was silly.
