If you actually read his autobiography you know he was NOT "a nice man". You are either as nasty as he was or you are easily taken by superficial charm
Absolutely magical Film and my favorite of all time. I watched it firstly when I was eight years old and I thought it was brilliant. The more I watch it, the more I love it. Thank you to all involved for bringing joy to my heart. The last time I watched the full movie was with my two daughters, only yesterday. Sooo many excellent lines throughout the movie. ❤️
Just goes to show about the media...I had never heard anything good or positive said about Tony Curtis on the media and when I met him I was expecting the Devil but he was in fact the nicest, sweetest guy I ever met. Since then I dont believe what anyone says in the media. They always get it wrong.
Media liked to demonize anyone they didnt like. We used to get all the news about the starts from print media so they used that power. If an actor is not nice to them they would spread "fake news" about them. Thanks to social media we now have direct contact with our stars.
Just because a journalist or a writer expressed an opinion that is different from yours doesn’t mean it’s “fake”. Everyone sees things differently, that’s the way people are, it’s a good thing.
He left his $60 million to his 5th wife 42 years his junior and none to any of his kids. And his 1st wife said he was totally absent in raising them and didn't give child support. He cheated on his wives. He smears other actors' reputations.
When living in Southern France and dining on Carlton hotel terrace I was approached 4 times during last 10 years by ladies over 50, telling me that I am look alike Tony Curtis. It is a great honor.
Tony the ultimate Hollywood playboy. Slept with so many leading ladies. Appeared in a clutch of all-time classics ( a few turkeys as well of course. Law of averages ). Got hitched to several gorgeous women. Appeared in a couple of hugely successful tv franchises ( The Persuaders & Vegas ) and earned millions to boot. His biography will certainly be worth a look.
All the best actors the most familiar faces are all dead... like Tony Curtis Paul Newman Charlton Heston Steve McQueen Charles Bronson Rod Taylor they they have all passed away
I saw two Curtis movies that made me realize his true talent: "Sweet Smell of Success" which was HIS movie. he just stole every scene from everybody! And a movie that is not as well known but very shocking, "The Outsider". If you can find"the Outsider" you will see a Curtis you could never have imagined on screen.
Should've not styled and colored his hair like this. Not to mention the face lift 😢 He was so handsome! Could've aged gracefully even with a full head of white hair
C’est sur que c’est Tony Curtis.? Je ne le reconnais pas .quel changement depuisles annees 50 60.je l’avez vu dans ces années la “ certain l’aime chaud avec Marilynn Monroe” et jack Lemon et dans Tarrace. Boulba. Avec Yul Bruner.
@@deathlarsen7502 Raft made the movie because he played the role straight without comedic embellishment. I remember Raft from the movie; I also remember Raft from the 1930/40 gangster movies he made and how he recaptured the zeitgeist of that era.
@@StevenTorrey he hardly "made the movie" give me a break. you are wacko. a character that nobody remembers at all from an ICONIC movie with 3 Major Starts (Raft aint one of them) you attribute to the success of the movie.
@@deathlarsen7502 Jack Lemmon was not a star yet. Sinatra was considered for the Daphne choice and Lemmon absolutely KILLED it. It was a star vehicle for Marylyn, and Lemmon stole every scene he was in.
no no no any number of actresses could have done Marilyns part, the difficult parts were Tony;s and Jacks they made the film, Billy Wilder the director wanted Mitzi Gaynor, very talented lady and no trouble
you are right SOME people went to the movie cos Marilyn was in it, and some went cos Tony was in it, for some reason Marilyn was a big star, no talent, but the camera loved her.
Tony Curtis hated Marilyn Monroe and said so in 1974 on the Mike Douglas Show. He said, "She gave very little of herself." Now he says he impregnated ger, He is lying and lived long enough to push that book. Now, in the video above -- he's wearing make-up. Was he making a film? He's got blush on, his eyebrows are tweezed. He even looks like he has lipstick on. Now it seems it's plastic surgery. He's got cheek implants, which he makes more evident by applying blush on them. He's had a brow lift and overall face lift.
He looks gay with that huge toupee. In the photo here he looks like he's had cheek implants and is wearing pink purple blush to enhance them. You're right. He never had anything nice to say about women. He criticized Natalie Wood as having facial beauty but she didn't have "boobs." He said he liked big boogs, the way some men only like blondes. He thought Natalie's sister, Lana, was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. He had something nasty to say about Karyn Kupcinet: "She was a dimply little girl, cute but never going to make it." His own children didn't bother with him. Curiously, in the mid-'60's, he was Jerry Lewis' best friend. Something caused a breech. He later said, "Jerry Lewis is a mean man." Like he's not? That book he wrote about having an affair with MM is pure bullcrap.
Kathleen Collins Bang on Kathleen. He was (was) good looking in his hey day but he is a horrible, spiteful man. I watched an interview with his daughter Jamie, she is so nice. She stuck up for Marilyn. That endeared me to her. Natalie's sister was probably a nice person but beautiful she was not. Your'e right he never had an affair with MM. Oh, he had an affair with everyone, he wishes. Horrible, disgruntled little old man.

At the time, NO, he was not. It was only decades later, when her legend increased and his career waned and ultimately died, that he himself stated that he was joking because many people were chastising him for his cruel comment. Unfortunately, Tony Curtis was well known as one of the meanest men in Hollywood. Not a very good legacy, but true...
Pretty sure he said it as a joke, because people kept asking him the same question about Marilyn and the answer was OBVIOUSLY going to be complimentary, and he's said that people have taken his quote out of context and turned it into an insult, which he never intended it to be. Plus, he's also said they were having an affair in real life.
I agree that the background music is ridiculous. Is someone trying to sell an old album? Well, the music is not very good but is very annoying. Poor production quality. I would recommend that no one watch this interview but it is a big star from yesteryear. It's too bad that we can't show a little more respect for Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe.
The mucic is taken from the soundtrack of the very film they're discussing. As to it being 'not very good' and 'annoying' well that's just your opinion.
I know some proffessional basketball players who dresses up as women for a masked ball and they became so good that they all got sexually and verbally harrassed on the way they were walking to masked ball in their fishnet socks and high heels
A B movie actor? Stop letting your dislike of him cloud the fact that he was an excellent actor. If you had watched a wider breadth of his work then you might just catch on to the fact.
What a strange sight he was later in life. Plucked, penciled eyebrows, possible plastic surgery on his face, ridiculous 1950s comic strip wigs, a rather gay wardrobe, and that accent. But man he was a consummate performer. He never played any character better than he played "Tony Curtis."
