Episode #52: Tony opens his old sketchbooks and shares preparatory drawings for Magic the Gathering, "The Spiderwick Chronicles" and "The Search for WondLa."
Love your art and your video! This is the first one I’ve seen and these drawings look amazing! I’ve always liked these type of books because of the Spiderwick Chronicles.
Incroyable!
Love your work. You were explaining why you never use those oatmeal sketchbooks but then got distracted and never said why? I love the white highlights you can do on non white paper.
Love Mirror Mask. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the cats. It didn’t come out till ‘05 though. So your sketch is before. So freakin cool! This is such an amazing style.
All these fantastic pieces really spark my drive for more fantasy in this world. However, this proves to be a difficult task for me. So if I may ask, for fantasy creatures like in Spiderwick chronicles and dragons where did you look for your inspirations? This technique/style has always been a fantasy staple but I could never manage to find other sources. If anyone else can answer this question please anything will help. Good Vibes.
