Unfortunately, this appears to be a probability. But he doesn’t owe the general public an account of how he sinned. I pray his atonement allows for his return to the pulpit - in a lesser capacity, if necessary.

@@ExegeteAllday Since you don’t have any knowledge of the situation, the wise thing to do is to keep silent until the facts of the situation come out. Now unless you have some inside scoop ( if so, state it) you have no clue why he’s doing it now. Genuine repentance doesn’t have an expiration date. One of the most genuine acts of repentance in the Bible happened 20 years after the act.

Be more appreciative that he did step down, how do you know, he didn’t finally get to the point where God convicted him so much that , he couldn’t bear it anymore and felt he needed to sit? It seems that your more on the side of critical than on the side of biblical love and forgiveness. Its be different if a scandal had been released and he was choosing to dig his heels in the ground and refuse to step down, like some of these other pastors. But no. He repented and has sat down. Your trying to be too critical instead of being sound and loving of another soul that God loves. We should be slow to assume. Imaging people walking around assuming the worst from you, when you genuinely wanted to get it right with God? This may make you not even want to come! Like you said let God be glorified and let us ALL remember where we’ve fallen from.

No!The standard IS high for those who have been called to lead God's people,but in my opinion,Dr.Evans has led an exemplary life by all accounts.Even if he has fallin,none of us or perfect.My life certainly hasn't been without sin.I pray for you Dr.Evans.

This is why I love and will continue to support this man of God. He is the epitome of a man called of God. . Pastors should take note. .

He may not feel convicted by it. I don't know. He wasn't convicted by it years ago. Sometimes situations and organizations force your hand.

@@Kdubtru You are misinterpreting the communication provided by this ministry. Stepping down implies he is doing so permanently and that is not what was communicated. Of course the Bible is the standard. It's the ultimate authority which Dr. Evans has lived by. You are benefiting from this story, not for biblical clarity, but for your platform. The fruit of Dr. Evans' call and sound biblical exposition and exegesis have been evident for decades. I'll be more relieved when these 'spiritualized' gossip vlogs are a thing of the past. People aren't growing spiritually; they are growing in skepticism. We can biblically call out false teachers. Dr. Evans is not one of them.

This. I already posted on another CCC’s video. I’m confused. This happened years ago and is only stepping down now? Prayers that God is glorified.

My best guess is that he had a child out of wedlock. This child is now an adult and he wants to beat the child to the punch with the information.

@@vanessap7209 Somehow that fact is overlooked. He apparently continued preaching and teaching while knowing about his sin(s). Why is he stepping down now? Was he led by the Holy Spirit to do so? the elders of the church pressured him to step down? or he was going to be exposed publicly and decided to step down.

It sounds like something has caught up with him and is going to be "exposed" soon. I feel if he was in sin and has repented and gotten past it why step down, unless that's what the elders required. We all sin and fall short of the glory. But, some sins are seen as "scandalous." I will pray for him.

Agree! He has not committed a crime but did not mention he has sinned again God, his church and family. I do have a problem with his statements more about what he didn't mention.

God still used him, and God can still use evans. You and I don’t know what we’d do in this moment , with all these people looking up to us, and we found ourselves in sin. All we can do is “hope” we’d do the right thing, but until we’ve been there we can’t say. Let us please pray for him, and also look at our own lives and see if there be any hidden sin.

Facts...hard disagree with that point. None of us pastors have 100% sound doctrine. The moment that we won't even entertain the possibility that we have misunderstood or erred in teaching the Scriptures is tantamount to idolatry, specifically, pride as if we are like God and never are wrong.

This is exactly why that we're not supposed to put confidence in man. We are to trust and have faith in the Lord. Besides, whatever the good things have happened in your life, it was from God, not Tony Evans.

God will use anybody to spread the gospel to the masses. Jesus used sinners while He was on earth and had sent them out to teach the gospel. I would agree with nipping it in the bud but the glaring problem is if it happened in the past that’s not real repentance, that’s getting exposed then damage control. 🤷‍♀️

He is Dr. Tony Evans. You don't get to simply just call him by his first name. He deserves better respect than that.

@lindsey I suspect if we examined your biblical understanding - including those here agreeing with you, that it would be discovered that you don't know the Word. Relax with that puffed up energy. It's not a good look on you.

It's probably not something that is just in his past. If he's stepping down he may still be under it's influence. The church needs to return to deliverance ministry some things need to be cast out before one is truly free.

@ettak You don’t get a do over. God is holy and so is his church. If God says this disqualifies a pastor then it disqualifies. Repentance is great and we restore a brother but not to be a shepherd again. He can sit along side others in front of the pastor. Your arbitrary 3-6 month idea is not scriptural. No one is throwing stones when you follow scripture. Peace🙏✝️
