here after the paddy loss... I don't have much to say, all I wanna say is that he was a legend, he still is. even though I was looking forward to him winning. he's my favorite UFC fighter after all, I've been rooting for tony. I was convinced he was going to win it. but he lost, I don't blame him. he is too aged for the sport. he may be mentally young but physically he isn't. it was really sad to see el cucuy walk out of the octagon defeated. and it's probably his last fight too. I wanted to see him retire, as he would show us that he's still the Boogeyman he used to be once. but I guess something's are just dreams. I'm really proud of Tony for him being able to still train his ass of fight even when he's 39 years old
It's the other way his corner let him against Justin down. He needs to go out on his shield it's the only way. And he still can fight he just needs to believe.
@@thedreamcapture2681 Tony's definitely not lacking in self belief. At this point it's probably the strongest thing he's got going for himself. But you can't undo the years of damage his brain and body have taken, and those can only take so much.. unfortunately even when you're El Cucuy
@@johnnydickson670 I think they were hoping if he lost to Paddy (which they assumed he would) he would realize it was time to call it and put his gloves down at the end of the fight. But he didn't. They won't give him an easy retirement fight bc they don't do that for anyone, even when they deserve it. Look at Nate, Cowboy, etc. They use them as a stepping stone to rocket their next prospect into fame. Is not right, but they'll never do it any different imo. How many fights does Tony have left on his current contract? Hopefully not more than one. He really needs to retire..
@@blockhartinabox a lot of fighter get screwed with bad match ups because they openly criticise the UFC. There are also fighters who are on good terms with dana and get favorable match ups and even a retirement ceremony (like robby lawler). Its true that these legends can be stepping stones for new contenders but at this point everybody knows that tony is washed and beating him wont really put anybody into the rankings. Giving him a winnable fight against a newcomer or another legend like clay guida is the only thing that makes sense for him imo. The problem is that tony built this sport and dana said he wont stop tony from fighting but he would like to see him retire. Tony probably is not the guy for that but they should offer him a last fight with a big pay check if he retires after.
Tony had this creativity/unpredictablitiy and flow to him that was for a while unmatched. The problem was - it was heavily reliant on his cardio/speed, so when age and injuries catch up it could no longer be executed.
One of the best fighters of all time. Age and injury comes for everyone in this sport. And if injury doesnt, age always will. Respect him so much. I wish he stopped fighting.
Forever the Champion in my eyes, A different kind of a Warrior that nobody wanted to f*ck with in his Prime but now it became It's Tony's Time to It's time Tony..
"They want to be animals inside there? I'm the dog catcher, guys. I got a noose for them." El Cucuy with the coldest fight promo in the history of the game.
Bro Im here after he lost, truly sad but I hope all of us remember his greatness throughout his career, he was fighting a much younger opponent n he was too scary in his prime
CUCUY!!!!!!! TONY FERGUNSONNNNNNNNNNN!!!!
He is a monster. One of the greatest lightweights ever. Tony is the definition of absolute destruction. He is the symbol of masculinity. When we will get the same mental strength as Tony, we will definitely overcome every obstacles
Do you have any evidence that khabib didn’t avoid him because history says something different imagine being the champ and never fighting the legitimate rank 1 who was at the very top for 4 years that didn’t loose and had the same win streak in the ufc and just waited until he was eventually beaten by time and Justin
Tony is a real king 👑 always will be . I love Connor I love khabib , geyG 😅 amazing fighters ... But Tonny is out of this planet is just pure heart and spirit
He tore that ACL and didn’t rehab it, and never really bothered to work on defense. That shit wasn’t going to work against Whitman-trained Justin Gaethje.
Tony should’ve been smarter, he didn’t rehab his torn knee properly, rehab isnt a competition, rushing back in 5 months was foolish he was never the same after that injury, and he got old too which further slowed him down. When he could no longer be fast and constantly pressuring his poor defensive skills got exposed. Tony’s defence was attack, and while he was injury free and had great cardio and movement he could get away with that fight style, but once he messed that knee up and took damage over time he was no longer the same fighter.
