Tony is mma royalty. His spirit is like a phoenix. Even in the gaethje fight he got beat up and took 2 car crashes worth of damage in the fight but he still didnt go down once. Later fights he was weak and frail but still didn't get submitted by a surging charles and dariush. I have so much respect and love for this man.
@La Borchia never. Tony is a ncwa wrestler. This means at his wrestling peak he was as good as amateur collegiate wrestlers. Gaethje is a D1 wrestler (the highest level, below olympians) . Gaethje is far stronger then tony. Fighters usually feel each other out and by round 1 I'm sure tony realised he would be burning way too much energy grappling against gaethje. Best thing for tony was to throw in a few iminari rolls and grab gaethjes leg but tonys too stupid and full of pride to please the stupid mma casuals so he keeps the fight standing
@@Zizoujr11 I'm a tony stan. Way bigger then u will ever understand. I can tell u everything about tony. He's my favourite fighter ever, but he's also a stupid guy like kabob said
“We just beat each other up” says Tony with one cut on his cheek and a smile on his face. Meanwhile the other guy is literally dripping blood. Awesome.
@@myname-mz3lo I never said blood means anything dummy I’m just talking about how awesome that moment was. Also Anyone that goes to a comment section and says “you’ve never fought before” clearly doesn’t fight trying to look tough behind a phone.
Yep it's the whole reason they're provided alcohol and there can't be fighters under 21, it's why Paige wasn't on the Pettis Melendez season she was 20 or something
@@4nt3lol90he was confused... At a certain point,.he thought they were supposed to find his son....he was now mad that he wasn't helping Tony find the missing kid
I actually give Brock credit for helping out Ferguson and molding him into the fighter he was destined to be. Even Tony himself credits Brock for coaching him throughout TUF.
@@benny9544 GSP was pretty damn good. I think almost every fighter he trained would go on to fight in the UFC at some point in their careers, and one of the fighters GSP trained now has a submission named after him for creating it. I also think every fighter GSP trained beat every fighter Koshcheck trained except for 1.
@@lukepier9736ye,gsp was the most helpful coach ever, he had his coaches train the guys with him, danaher, wahabi, jean charles, couture and more,he bought a lot to the table for fighters to learn and make big learning curve leaps. Brock was also tough but tony liked brock already but he was already very skilled, brock had very little input to do with tony’s style, whereas gsp made many complete fighters out of the guys he managed
Man my eye are full with tears. Tony is so long on this game. Always the same style and the same weirdo. Love you Tony. Wish you all the best. It’s time to retire and to teach the youngsters.
I fucking hated the guy he fought when he kept sending those leg kicks that way. Tony saw him as his best friend, his brother, but he turned on him after a simple mistake that comes with alcohol. All adults know that being a angry drunk does NOT equal being a bad person, Tony apologized and nobody listened, and worst of all, his “brother” turned on him. Seeing him soaked with blood and Tony unscathed was awesome!
@@YethandYeth WHO in the world can handle emotions being drunk? Especially those with traumatising childhood have problem with it. Tony was bullied and these times when he was kid, it was not like you could go for help, they called you attention seeker and boys doesn't cry and blah blah. And his father was probably big piece of shit. Explanation, not excuses.
I can't help but feel when Tony was talking about his son he was speaking from his past, he had a dad out of the picture and it hurt him and seeing this guy reminded him of that and when you're drunk all that shit gets let out
@Hybrid From Hell ong bro imma be so pissed knowing i can't do shit about cus he'll beat my ass too, shouldn't have poured water on tony's head tho lmao
@Hybrid From Hell why? he just said some shit. the guys kid has no dad, i think that's a lot more ugly. my guy f'ed around and found out who the real one is
@Hybrid From Hell In... The show??? The guy literally suggested that the reason he was seperated from his family was because of DV in the show but okay?
Even though he is so green here he still had that mean streak and the unorthodox strikes. Who knocks out people with upkicks in freakin ultimate fighter
Fr. As soon as that upkick heel to the chin swiped that guys dreams from his soul, I knew Tony was a special fighting talent, and he’d walk through those amateurs on TUF and make a name for himself in the UFC
For someone his size (I don’t think he’s really 5’11” even), he’s got big ass hands and monkey arms. Look at them shits in the ankle pick video lol. They gotta be as big or bigger than Werdum’s
@@exposer0168 khabib would have won. Tony is a beast but wrestling wasn't his strong suit. I was just looking at his win streak and it wasn't as impressive name wise as I Remer except Barboza and Dos Anjos. Josh Thompson as well. It was there faces after the fights that was impressive. Hands of stone people said about him. Even Chandler said that was the hardest he was hit when Tony blacked his eye with a jab I think.
@@barbarapaparella1833 khabib ducked prime ferguson. his own fucking words. khabib cherry picked all his fights. he didnt want prime ferguson. no one did.
@@barbarapaparella1833 If you look at the people you listed all of these people were very good back in the day and I do believe he couldve beaten khabib when tony was at the top and khabib was on the rise may of cut him up worrying khabib and catching him on a bad shot choking him out but who knows since it never happened
From the start, until recently Tony has been my favorite fighter. He isn't normal looking at all striking, or on the ground, he's always doing something crazy, he reminds me of character from a street fighter type game. His win streak is immortalized, and the fact he refused to tap to Charles, and also the wars with Justin and Chandler. It's really sad to see the time taking effect on him, but it's absolutely incredible he's still willing to keep fighting, El Cucuy.
I see it differently, tony went most his career fighting like fairly mid level fighters. His losing streak was only due to finally getting to the top of the division and then fighting much level guys than he ever did. The guys he lost to they were high level guys, in fact the only losses on his record were to high level guys and the best. Even people don't realize that Diaz was also high level, people will often mock diaz for the losses on his record because diaz tends to fight dumb sometimes and not have a high fight IQ but actually Diaz has to be top 10 most well rounded fighters in ufc with high level BJJ and great striking skills and iron chin. Tony actually never got worse like people say, his skills are as good as they have always been but he's still getting better. But when you fight guys like Dariush on the ground he's a BJJ world champion of course he's got the edge over tony on the ground. And Charles is BJJ prodigy one of the best BJJ guys ever in mma he also has the edge over tony on the ground. When Gaethje fought tony, the difference was that Gaethje changed his style and started to fight more intelligently it was the first fight gaethje had ever actually fought intelligently and tony didn't maybe because that fight was on short notice and tony never really got to prepare for gaethje. The chandler fight, again chandler being accomplished wrestler outside of mma chandler had the advantage over tony in grappling and chandler we all knew had ko power in those hands, but nobody expected that knockout from chandler nobody really saw it coming but chandler has always been high level guy and 2x or 3x time champ in bellator. Still have to consider that tony took 2 of those fights on short notice 1st time against gaethje and 2nd time against diaz. Not having full camp to train makes a big difference. And now tony is moving to 170 to fight shavkhat, tony may possibly lose this one again and I mean he's fighting outside of his own weight class against a much bigger guy people are still gonna keep thinking tony is getting worse and worse but Shavkhat is legit and difficult opponent too.
@@GrowingDownUnder that's absurd. Tony has beaten high level guys, RDA, Barboza, Pettis? All these guys were former champions and Tony destroyed them. His downfall came from the trip wire incident where he had surgery and not to mention him taking fights he didn't have to take like the Justin fight. Prime Tony was a monster, and is easily one of the best LWs of all time, we got robbed of not seeing Prime Tony vs Khabib or Mcgregor.
@@juniorvillegas2241 Pettis went 7 - 12 since 2015 until now. And before fighting tony he was 3-5 in his last 8 fights. Let's be honest pettis was good once upon a time, but those days were in WEC not ufc. RDA is one of those fighters who was never high level, he was good but not great at anything and not bad at anything either. And RDA never would have got the belt if he didn't beat pettis, RDA didn't beat many top guys either. RDA lost against all good fighters his best wins were cerrone, diaz and benson henderson who were not high level but maybe for their time they were considered good due to lack on competition on the division. The division was not stacked back then you know when cerrone was a title contender at one point the division was not very stacked. I will still give tony credit for beating RDA, pettis because they were champs and not bad fighters and not cans. Barboza I think was higher level than pettis and RDA, so that's legit one of my favourite fighters actually The thing is, prime tony never went anywhere he's constantly improved since the barboza fight and still beast. There's a huge difference in competition he fought now though Gaethje, dariush, charles, chandler they're all much tougher opponents than anyone he fought in the past.
@@GrowingDownUnder you were just saying how high level Diaz was and now ur saying he's not high level when RDA fought him, and Benson Henderson was a beast! The fight he had with Chandler was amazing and he's definitely underrated. Tony fought everyone he could, obviously the Khabib fight never happened and Mcgregor pretty much ducked him his entire career. You have to keep in mind when by the time Tony fought Justin he was already 37, and olivera and dariush he was older too, no doubt if he was younger he would’ve at least have put a better fight since he relies a lot on his athleticism, not to mention, Tony was the only fighter that didn’t get finished by Olivera in a while, while people like Porier, Justin, and chandler got finished by Olivera. You also have to take into consideration Tony cut weight twice for the justin fight AND he was training for khabib for a whole year and then he fights a fucking guy who fights nothing like a khabib and is one of the hardest hitters at 155.
@@juniorvillegas2241 benson henderson got smashed by chandler his performance was not amazing against chandler, other way around chandler was amazing. Diaz is high level bjj so there's a difference he never uses his bjj really except for the submission wins he has. Nate is very well rounded, probably one of the most well rounded guys and high level bjj. If you read my comment I never said nate wasn't high level actually I said pettis & rda were not high level and neither was benson.
I love how all those guys in the house hated him and didn't want him to succeed. Where are they now? Tony is a legend in this sport and those guys are probably cashiers somewhere
There's a reason they hated him. They loved him and he did things that made them hate him. Just because he was the best fighter there, doesn't mean everything he did was right.
*Ferguson is a Born MENACE man back in the day he was the real Boogeyman he gave All of his opponents the literal Hell in that Cage, Legends never Die and Tony always gonna be Champion in my eyes* ✊🏿🙏
Even though Tony is past his prime, along with being hit too much, he still accomplished UFC gold - an interim title. It may not be the actual belt, but that's way more of an accomplishment than the rest of these dudes ganging up against him. Those guys are probably working 9-5 jobs lol
@@treezdasavage4623 interim status is the title the promotion gives to a number 1 contender when the undisputed champion is on sick leave or away. Tony is probably the longest reigning interim champion in the UFC's history, simply because Conor McGregor would not defend his title or vacate his spot and because his fight for the undisputed gold never followed through.
Prime Tony would’ve been the first lightweight to make Khabib bleed. And he also would’ve destroyed Conor, the moment that he gets Conor to the ground he’d submit him with an arm triangle choke and it’d be over. Prime Tony was just a different beast, entirely before the Gaethje fight.
@@darkclaw1462 I would bet any amount of money that Khabib would have been leaking if he fought Tony. No way does he make it out of there without getting hurt
I also never really judge a person on what they say when they're blackout drunk, especially during an argument where you're just looking for something to say..The way the team turned on Tony kinda makes them all look like fair weather friends..nobody needs those.
They said he was a bad drunk but he was disrespected first could clearly feel the energy and I mean if the guy can't see his kid currently it looked like Tony was pointing out that he had been a bad parent and I'm with Tony on his view with bad parents especially if they want to randomly disrespect me when all having a good time pouring water on me, usually the first act is followed by many, Tony just understood to not be fooled by cheap tricks and stuck by his morals even super intoxicated, what a legend.
tony did take it a little far and you could see that he knew it, but growing up without his father and being picked on when he was younger the other dude shouldve known what was gonna happen. tony wouldve whooped him anyways
@@peytonhodge1260 I grew up without my father and was bullied myself badly along with lots more and still stick by what I said but we are all entitled to our opinions and I respect yours, for context I'm a great father myself now and also a coach and lifetime martial artist/fighter so goes to show there's no excuse, life can make or break us, our choice, but I got no time or sympathy for bad or evil energy and people, life taught me enough already on the topic.
umm no. He was obviously completely out of line, but for some reason you people keep making up these bullshit reasons for why it was okay. The favoritism is absolutely insane. Glad this guy is out of the UFC.
I remember this like it was yesterday. Tony was an animal, I knew he was the real deal after his destruction of Chuck. His pressure, creativity, tenacity he’s definitely one of the best lightweights ever.
he also didn't say anything bad, he just asked: "where is your son?" Dudes are all sensitive but they seems like the first one who would leave their child and child's mother without any trace.
man I remember this sht like it was yesterday.. I thought nothing of Tony at first... then he started winning and then I realized hes from the 805 like myself. He was the main reason I became ADDICTED to MMA. I believe it was 2010 or something like that. thank you Tony, we love you bro Edit: its crazy how much better he was than everyone here
Tony is still my favorite UFC fighter. Its about his Energy. Its about his Heart. Its fucking Inspiring. That Man knows his Worth. Nothing can stop that, not even defeat. Thats Champ Shit. 💪🏆 😎 🏆 💪 THANK YOU TONY
i only been a "fanboy" of 3 fighters anderson silva, junior dos santos and tony ferguson. tony is one of the extremely few fighters to have a HUGE amount of REAL fans. hes on a 4 fight loss streak and a bad one and yet i defend him in every debate and argument. the dude is special, him and all his perfect weirdness!!! EL CUCUY!!!
Tony, no matter what, we'll always love you. I'm lucky to have seen your primes, it was spectacular. But now, its time to sit back and relax, give that body a rest, you've done your job. Take some rest now
When he said “hit me not your kid” and the other guy stayed silent, that’s when I knew Tony’s anger was justified. El cucuy is an all time great fighter and a even better human being 💯
Thank you for everything you have done and do for the sport of mma! You’ll always be one of the greats!! In 100 years they’ll still be talking about el cucuy
Another great video. The UFC should be paying you to do these for keeping this thing alive. These videos are the lead up to the new season. These videos get me pumped. All hail Larone!!
the thing the guy said at the end of the video, "if u wanna beat him u have to take his heart"..such true words. geathje did that exactly . he took his heart and tony is finished until then.
Fun Fact Justin Edwards was one of my best buddies, we met as teenagers. We only lost touch when he moved to southern Ohio for college and i joined the military not long after. He was always a bad ass but he also always worked really hard. He wasn't a natural fighter so to make it into the UFC really shows his work ethic, Tony starched him though..sorry Justin..lol
He is an absolute jerk who abused his family...do you not know anything about him? This comment section is making me sick. Tony is a garbage person who hurts his family.
