I feel even worse for him because it’s clear someone is trying to damage his reputation with this Gilroy narrative and the fact that Edwards hasn’t done another movie since Rogue One. Somehow he became a scapegoat on a movie that was well received and did well at the box office
And I too love Rogue one without ending by Gilroy or his editing. And I don't like clear without lore and not emotional Andor, especially first half this series
@@JarJarAbrams funny how those who "hate" star wars (which tony gilroy doesn't. it just doesn't have that much of an impact on him) make better and higher quality shows than fans. what did we get from fans? a failed trilogy. a repetitive series in which each episode of the first two seasons has the same plot. a series in which the main character was washed away and became a supporting character. i think we need filmmakers who are only concerned with the work they are doing and not what is written on it
I wish we could have seen his version of Rouge One and the original gritty guerrilla warfare look and tone he wanted. But I guess it was too dark and they didn’t want that. Rouge One had various things missing if people saw the trailers. The tone was supposed to be darker than what we saw.
Do these people hear themselves??? It's not normal for another director to do the reshoots for your movie! That means it's a mess! It's not your movie anymore!!!
Interesting how Gilroy's solo Star Wars project had received higher reviews than Rogue One, and he wrote both. While Gareth Edwards' solo project with his Star Wars aesthetic has not done so well
Gilroy didn't write Rogue One. He came when the film was finished and he tweaked things and ordered reshoots. To me, his addition was probably negative to the final product.
@@MrTragedious986How do you know he made things better if you can't compare with the original version? Disney is notorious for making bad decisions, why would you trust their judgement?
@@JarJarAbrams looking at the original it would be the same but the characters are not interesting, heck some scenes that are cut out could be dragged out especially when Jyn is about to fight the Tie Fighter that would dragged the ending, and Gareth did the same thing again in the Creator but with a robot octopus which is unnecessary. Say what you about Rogue One but Gareth still did the reshoots with Tony, without it no one would like Rogue One.
@@JarJarAbrams I didn't even know you knew her privately. funny that tony gilroy was there before the re shoots, isn't it? as you can see from the credits. that he had to do the reeshots was spontaneous
Garreth Edwards' Rogue One has been the only Lucasfilm production I liked during the first decade of Disney Star Wars. But what other movies has Garreth Edwards made since Rogue One? I'd like to see him direct again.
@@samichoudry6861 They took his movie away from him n gave it to that guy Tony Gilroy who was allowed to change anything he wanted and add stuff and even ask Edwards to shoot new stuff and share the credits with him.
@@JarJarAbrams this is such bullshit. the film was a disaster. the Lucasfilms test audience asked them if they wanted to screw them. of course they then turn on someone who has already worked on the film to save it. and although tony gilroy re-directed half of the film, he didn't get any directing credits. so what kind of bullshit are you talking about?
Tony Gilroy fixed that movie in the same way Joss Whedon fixed Justice League. Both were piles of shit and you can't turn chicken shit into chicken salad.
@Neo's danger it's same crap as all other crappy movies he made except twice as long and worse. Let's introduce Darkseid and let his ass handed to him and in his shame, he forgot where earth is located. Great job at introducing one of most powerful character in dc and make him not only weakling but also can't follow direction to planet he visited before.
Remove the final scene with the ginormous plot hole, and Rogue One will become the only good non-Lucas SW movie (not counting 4 episodes of Clone Wars stitched together).
Not only did create a continuity problem, it was ridiculously over the top. Filoni probably had a hand in that. I hated that scene. I also hated the first scene when Andor shoots a guy for no reason, and then he does the same thing in the series so I imagine that was a Gilroy addition.
