Award-winning actor & director Tony Goldwyn and writer & director Tony Spiridakis reveal their inspiring journey exploring the universal truths of friendship and parenting. They offer insights into acceptance, vulnerability, and the power of authentic human connections. Spiridakis shares his heartfelt journey of raising his autistic son, which inspired him to write the film EZRA (now in theaters everywhere), directed by Goldwyn.
The conversation highlights the duo's 30+ year friendship, and their shared commitment to advocacy and redefining masculinity. It's a discussion on overcoming societal pressures, and embracing the challenges and rewards of parenting neurodivergent children (and parenting in general).
Join us for poignant stories and valuable lessons, which will inspire you to cherish genuine relationships and approach parenting with compassion and understanding.
TW: discussions of depression and suicidal ideation || Spoiler Alert: Contains minor plot points from the film EZRA
QUOTES:
"It’s really manly to mess up, admit you’re wrong, and then grow." - Tony Goldwyn
"One of the things we worked really hard on was to have no villains in the story. In life, there are no villains, just people trying to do their best." - Tony Goldwyn
"Being a father means constantly learning, adapting, and embracing the beautiful mess of raising a child who sees the world differently." - Tony Spiridakis
"Most people who do bad things, it’s coming usually from a place of not feeling enough." - Liz Plank
ABOUT TONY GOLDWYN:
Tony Goldwyn’s latest feature directing project, Ezra, with Bobby Cannavale and Robert DeNiro is now open in theaters. Goldwyn also has a role in the film, reuniting him with Ghost castmate Whoopi Goldberg. Additionally, he can currently be seen in the Academy Award winning Best Picture Oppenheimer and in the original “Law & Order” series talking over as the new DA.
Goldwyn made his feature directorial debut with A Walk on the Moon. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, receiving praise from critics as well as special recognition from the National Board of Review for Excellence in Independent Filmmaking. Other feature directing credits include The Last Kiss, for which Goldwyn received Best Director from the Boston Film Festival, and the romantic comedy Someone Like You. Conviction, starring Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell, earned Swank a SAG Award nomination, won Best Film at the Boston Film Festival and was awarded a Freedom of Expression honor from the National Board of Review.
He also dedicates much of his personal time to philanthropic work. Goldwyn serves as an Ambassador for Stand Up To Cancer, is a board member for the humanitarian relief organization Americares, a Trustee for Second Stage Theater, sits on the MPTF Foundation Board of Governors and is on the Board of Trustees at the Innocence Project.
ABOUT TONY SPIRIDAKIS:
Tony Spiridakis is an award-winning screenwriter, director, producer, and actor with nearly four decades in the film and television industry. His most recent film, "Ezra," which he wrote and produced alongside director Tony Goldwyn, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Currently, Spiridakis is a writer and consulting producer on the MGM+ apocalyptic drama series “Earth Abides.” He is also adapting Sandy Greenberg’s acclaimed memoir, "Hello Darkness, My Old Friend" for Wayfarer Studios. Set in the early ’60s, it’s the inspirational story of a Columbia student who goes blind right before his senior year and, without letting anyone know he has lost his sight, is able to graduate.

Look at nature before men has thousands of years women had hundreds of millions of years.human history. Patriarchy is the new radical experiment. And and just like. Capitalism is blamed for stuff caused by nature. Starvation Disease and freezing. Stuff reduced by capitalism. Patriarchy is blamed for problems caused or brought back by feminism. Having to bottle up well you can cry 😭 they love see men cry but actually talk anything that would put women in a negative light. You less relationships with your kids being kicked out and still drained and vilified as a Deadbeat dad . . Being a money object . Lake respect as living being. Even negative affects on women. Barbie had a speech blaming patriarchy for what feminist fought for . Patriarchy brought so many wonderful things how we conquered nature in so many ways we take for granted even the right wants appeal to Nature for something better . Then or corrent progressive system actually going backwards to nature 🤯 males fighting each other for approval of the females is nothing special

Men should stay and bond and support their kids. What it's against the mother's wishes. Do feminist understand or consider what ask of men to be allies disempowering themselves for out of guilt. Unless your bullying somthing less with less privilege then you to firm emotional attachments to other sentient being dependent on YOUR body when YOU want the support but just respect your wishes when You want to kill it

How can she teach you about accountability if she herself can't hold her accountable. .. by her own state of what qualifies her to talk on male issues is she's a hurt person looking to hurt people. And best way to mentally hurt people is prend to be their friend. I'm sorry about your precieved problems but they are your problems. You to a women's group. How would you feel if guys whos has bad experiences with eom . Homeless still drained in alimony and children support vilified as dead bear by his baby moma . It falsy accused just get him trouble. Or had abusive mother. Went to teach a woman's group telling they need take accountability
