Tony's the only celebrity/athletes I remember who literally never got into any trouble or ever had a negative word spoken about him. He's the man

As a non-Padre fan, this goes up with one of the better HOF speeches. Shows it wasn't about him it was about everybody he crossed paths with ordering his journey.

I had the unexpected privilege of watchingTony's first game as a Padre. I was on a house hunting trip to San Diego and decided to catch a Padres' game that evening. On the way to Jack Murphy Stadium, I was listening to Jerry Coleman's pre-game radio show. Jerry was talking about Tony's batting ability and how we were going to love watching him. He said: "This young man could fall out of bed and bat .350!!" He was so right. Tony Gwynn throughout his career was the embodiment of what the wonderful game of baseball is all about. R.I.P. Tony.

He just sounds so friendly. It is absolutely uncanny listening to his son speak. If you close your eyes, you’d have no idea it’s the son and not the father.

I read a stat Tony Gwynn had more 4-hit games than multi-strikeout games. I'm not even sure my brain can process that. That's absolutely insane!

I was there on that day. Amazing batter. His numbers don't lie. Incredible lifetime average: .338 And look at his highest producing years: .351, .370, .336, .358, .394 and on and on. It's just insane in this day and age.
