It's interesting that some singers are still able to sing in the original keys as they get older and sound as good as ever. But then other guys totally lose it when they get older and can't hit any of the notes they used to be able to hit. And they are forced to lower the keys in practically all of their songs. I don't like that at all. When I'm used to hearing a song in a certain key, I don't like hearing it in a different key. I'm glad Tony has still got his voice. I wish he would go back to Spandau Ballet. All the guys are healthy. There's no reason they shouldn't be together. I think Tony is making a big mistake by not touring with Spandau. He has plenty of time to do both his solo stuff and tour with Spandau.
There‘s several reasons why he doesn‘t go back. First, he doesn‘t have plenty of time, he‘s very busy with his solo career. Second, he‘s not a member of the band anymore. Gary would have to hire him to be frontman again. But most important, they‘ve treated him like crap, especially Gary and Martin. There‘s only so much humiliation a single person can bare. They don‘t deserve him to come back anymore. Tony is a lot happier now, let him be.
@@j.schermer3523 I think it's the opposite. Tony doesn't deserve Spandau. Gary is the guy who wrote all those great songs. The truth is that great singers are a dime a dozen. Tony is definitely a great singer. But there are a million great singers out there. Tony has a very distinct voice, so he would be somewhat hard to replace. But if the band searched hard enough, they could find a good replacement. Bands like Journey and Foreigner, who had incredible lead singers that seemed impossible to replace, were able to find great replacements. Anyway, I think all the stuff about Tony being mistreated is nonsense. Tony is an egomaniac and wants to be the center of attention. That is why he left. The other 4 members of the band didn't have any problems the last several years. Everyone was getting along great and the 2015 tour was a huge success.
@@ZenyattaFan1 It‘s obvious you know very little about them. Gary says he only wants to do Spandau with Tony as the frontman, because he knows Tony brings more than just a good voice to the band. Tony has something the others don’t have, it’s called charisma. And the egomaniac has always been Gary. He wanted to be the centre of the attention and couldn‘t bare the thought he wasn‘t. Tony had always been the centre of attention, which is logical for a lead singer, so that wasn’t the reason for him to leave. It‘s not what I think, it‘s what Martin himself has said. Both him and Gary suffered from singer-envy, and as a result of that, they bullied Tony till he had enough of it. Tony recently said that leaving Spandau was the best decision he ever made. And when you go to his solo shows you‘ll see for yourself how happy he is without them. Tony doesn‘t need the band at all, but the band is nowhere without him. They‘ve proven that with that Ross guy. Also a good voice, but not Tony 💁🏻♀️
@@j.schermer3523 I know all about the band. I agree that Ross was just ok. He wasn't a great fit. But I think Gary gave up too easily. He saw that Ross couldn't compare to Tony, so he figured they could never find anyone who could compare to Tony. It's true to some extent, but as I said before, when I look at Bands like journey and Foreigner, I think they are still great, even though they don't have their original singers. So I think when the Ross experiment didn't work, they should have tried to find someone else. You are probably right that Tony is happier now. But I think that is probably because he just likes being in charge. When he was in Spandau, he wasn't in charge.
@@ZenyattaFan1 You‘re right, Tony is happy he can make his own decisions now (like he did in all those years he already was a solo singer). He wanted to do both Spandau and working on his solo career, but Gary wasn‘t willing to give him the time he wanted for his own things. He gave Tony an ultimatum: Work with Spandau, or retire. Tony chose the latter. And as for another singer; that would never have worked. Go over to RU-vid and see how many comments to Spandau videos are about Tony‘s voice. More and more people come to realise there‘s something special about that voice. And of course Gary knows that too. Plus all the nasty things that have been said about Tony by the other bandmembers have made Tony even more popular by the fans. Another singer will never be accepted by the majority. I saw Spandau with Ross and a lot of people in the audience didn‘t know Tony had left the band. They were not amused they had to listen to (and look at!) another singer.
