back on the board at age 37 after a couple years off. love that skateboarding is in a state where i'm allowed to go to the skatepark and do my little ollies and 180's without feeling out of place
Same here dude, took a break, (prison) now I'm going to be 37 in June and I'm back on the board. Seeing Tony hawk and Tony Alva still going hard at there age gives me hope
Same! I broke my neck 6 years ago and had to learn how to walk and everything. I just don’t feel the judgment I used to feel growing up. Might also be being in my mid 30’s and not really caring what anyone thinks.
Tony’s journey to recovery has been so inspirational to so many, speaking for myself personally as im going through laser treatment for scar tissue in my knee. Im counting the days til I get the go ahead to just ride my board again. So thank you Jason and Tony for being a driving force in the optimistic mentality in skateboarding. Thank you for this incredible show
Dude. You guys are so inspiring. I mean damn man a broken leg and he's already like "Yeah about to do a demo". I love this stuff. Like Daewon's ankle looking like a dinner bell. Danny Way and Cardiel are basically so mangled that we could take both of them and make one skater. And yet they still skate. That's exactly why I fight through my own permanent injury and at least try and have curb/mini ramp fun. Love Skateboarding. Other athletes careers end over lesser ish.
That was so good lol 😂 bird 🦅 man is the Captain America of skateboarding he is super inspirational I can’t wait for his doc to come out the chemistry you guy have is just getting bigger better keep it up
MILO!!!!!!! i love THE DESCENDANTS!!!! i think my favorite show i went to of theirs was when they did their come back an had bouncing souls opening for them in dallas , it was amazing show. milo is super chill super nice guy. an i know youll come back no dout in my mind you are such an positive an inspiring figure head . shit so is jason . both yall are such a great positive hopefull inspiring ..it such a great thing hawk vs wolf pod cast its so much better than all the shit an doom an gloom worlds ending crap that we are bombarded with daily. yall are the light at the end of tunnel an inspire so many people an spread so much hope that its hard to say thank you cause i could never say it enuff. yall literally breathed life an that want an need back into my soul yall gave me something back i thought was just dead an gone inside myself..thank yall so much for being yall
Great show and your confidence is second to none. Know your body and it’s abilities, but Tony don’t forget the whole journey. I want to see you skate for years to come! 🛹 You have more than just one show, but a legacy of skating!
57:00 I skate with a group of dudes in their 60s. Every Saturday and Sunday, they show up at the local bowl and skate for hours. Some people play golf, some people skate!!
Michael Jordan didn’t bring basketball mainstream , loved Jordan but I think Tony hawk is even miles above Jordan with how he is responsible for the evolution of skating. It’s an Olympic sport now for Chrissake!! So impressed and inspired!! Know your limit, don’t push yourself so hard you hurt yourself or retard your recovery !! ❤️❤️❤️
Tony i am 29 and around 1998 to 2000ish i read your book every night. And i had a handheld video device called a "juicebox" and i had a single cassette for it that was one of the "vans triple crown" that i watched religiously.. Anyways you gave me the skate bug for life, as someone who views you as one of my life inspirations and as someone who still skates (not nearly as well as 12-18 year old me) None of us who look up to you could bear you getting hurt enough to never ride again. We dont care if you take 2 years off, don't let the itch be your last ride
Hell yeah Tony! I broke my femur just under two years ago at the neck and they replaced the entire hip joint with titanium, I’m just getting back on the board and it’s inspiring as hell seeing you go through something similar! You are doing everything right so far. If I can recommend anything it is eat as anti-inflammatory diet, it will drastically speed up your recovery. And Jason, I just got a heart transplant after a decade of heart failure and it’s not as terrifying as you probably feel it is! I just did my first ollie after 7 years off the board at the age of 39 and you guys are more inspiring than ever!
Just for deeper info regarding the recovery procedures. As Tony says there has been a change in how recovery is approached. Specifically they now use the POLICE system (protection, optimal loading, ice, compression, elevation) where they used to utilize the RICE system (rest, ice, compression, elevate). So it’s much more active and also way more effective.
I love that Tony Hawk is still so real world sensible after all of his success. Only owning or having 1 fancy suite and it's your wedding suite is like a situation I would face or every other regular guy who is sensible and not the suite type. Its awesome how humble and down to earth skateboarders are and how even big fame can't change some basic things .
When Jason says I’m pissing you off that’s great I laughed so hard he’s a funny dude and not many people pull off the podcast with just two Hommies just BS ing Always a good show
Legend Tony Hawk is possessed to skate. just to listen to him and Jason is inspiring but to see him live i can only imagine how fuck'n eh that would be. Cheers from Toronto.
I agree with Tony about the healing process for a leg versus the pelvis. I was on a walker for 5 months when I jacked my pelvis. Broke my fibula and tore the tendon of my ankle(surgically repaired) in November. I'm back already. 50%. But I'm back
Glad to see that Tony seems to be doing as well as he can considering what happen earlier this month. Loved the story about the Vanity fair party ! Best of wishes for a quick and good recovery Mr Hawk.
Watching this podcast every week since Tony's slam isn't just them talking about really awesome stories. Now it's awesome stories plus Tony's goal of skating at the event in May!? Can he do it!? Of course he can! So exciting!!
If you listen closely and read in between the lines, I think they are both implying that Tony is WAY more "ride or die" than Jason. Maybe even more than Jake Brown or Danny Way.
Tony: I don't have the clout...to lean on Shawn & Kelly. Are you kidding me? Clout doesn't have enough Tony to do things, not the other way around. This man is a legend.
It's crazy that Tony cares what strangers think about his own body & recovery. He is so worried about it, yet anyone who knows what it's like to love something so deeply, just want him to heal fast and get back on the board.
if Tony's not already booked up with a cryogenic cooling chamber company, then, he should seek one out if he's looking at skating for 40mins in a month's time! like, he needs to be using it every day from now until then...and, he needs to get the wolf in there with him for all the lolz! 😁👍
Tony, you should use frozen water bottles for your ice pack cooler. It’s much easier than trying to keep it full of ice cubes. I recommend 4 frozen water bottles if it’s like the one here
This was a great ep! And, like Tony, I leave my ties TIED. Why untie them? Just slip 'em off and slip 'em on again on the rare occasions you have to wear them. Keep it up, boys!🤘🥃
Holy fuck I love this podcast. You two are my new hero’s and also still my hero’s from back in the day. As a (fairly average) skater that started in the 80’s and still does it, it’s so relatable and entertaining.
