Comment addendum: I forgot to mention Big Drop in the script for this video. The Big Drop mechanic blows so hard it could push a camel through the eye of a needle. This feature was introduced in THPS2 and discarded thereafter in THPS3, where you'd fall off your board if you landed from a high enough altitude unless you held down the Ollie button. Why Robomodo decided it was such an important feature to bring back is beyond me as it hinders you especially in the THPS3 levels the DLC includes. Tack this onto the myriad of other things wrong with this wet fart of a game. Still not as bad as THPS5 though.
I'm struggling to complete all the goals for this game atm. I'm only on the School level and I can't even get the secret DVD because I'm unable to get enough height to reach the building
If you come off of transition and are gonna slam....tap both l2 and r2 or l trigger and r trigger together and it will level you out so you dont slam and still keep your combo , its a og trick
I remember being in college and either downloading the demo or full out buying this thing when it came out. I was so disappointed. As someone who was still actively playing THPS 4 at some point every week, this felt absolutely nothing like an original Neversoft game. The physics were way off. This may not be the most succinct way to describe them, but the skaters somehow felt both too heavy and too light. The muscle memory players had built up to that point did not serve them while playing the HD game.
I remember playing this game around the time I heard about pro skater 5 coming out and I was interested in playing Tony Hawk games again. I was no longer excited to play pro skater 5 after playing this game, but the interest for these games stuck and I'd eventually get into THUG Pro
This was funny and informative, good work. I just recently picked up the 1 and 2 remaster for the Nintendo switch, and I was actually very impressed at how well that turned out.
You missed out on the biggest gimmick this game had to offer. If you had a 3D monitor, you could play this game with 3D glasses. If you grew up playing the old school graphics and then tried it in 3D it was kinda cool. Nvidea stopped putting the drivers out so I can't even play the game like I wish I could. It's fine, those glasses gave you a headache anyway.
it is pretty bad. The engine feels so slow and sluggish to play. I wouldn't say it's a terrible game but it's kinda bad. Also it doesn't have all the stages from THPS1&2
I bought a used Xbox 360 yesterday and this game was on the hard drive, had never seen it before on 360 probably because it was delisted way back in 2017 Cool to have, good video lol
I just watched Square Eyed Jak review on this game. Apparently, This was built on the Tony Hawk Underground 2 engine. If, so they butchered a good engine.
From the way I understood it, they actually re-built THPS from scratch in the Unreal engine for this game. That's why so many small physic things are wrong. Hell, it might be the foundation for THPS 1+2.... They got it right with that one finally, it was Unreal engine too.
The first two THPS games getting remade washed the bad taste out of my mouth that this game left behind lol. You could tell there was love and care put into those remakes...this not so much.
Im surprised you didn't mention the big drop mechanic. Square Eye Jak talked about in his review of this game. He made good points about it like why did they bring it into the THPS 3 levels when it was not made for those levels?
I completely forgot to mention that in my script. That pissed me off a good bit in playing the game so I'm disappointed in myself that I left that out. I put a little addendum in the pinned comment about big drop. Thanks for bringing that up man 👍
I bought the steam version as soon as it came out and thought it was alright at the time. I do remember the physics being janky, but I think I gave them a pass for trying to recreate the first 2 games. I started with THPS on ps1 and played every Tony Hawk game through American Wasteland. I tried proving grounds and project 8 but could never really get into them like the older games. Neversoft might have been fatigued on making the games but I think fans were Tony Hawk fatigued aswell.
did you need to buy the revert pack? i dont think i ever paid for the DLC but i know i have it.. i bought this game the day it was released.. the the lack of revert was my biggest complaint.. but i didn hate the game.
They patched in revert without the need to buy the DLC, on 360 back in the day I used revert all the time without buying DLC. If you look at the questionably legal ways to get the game online the versions that exist are launch day vanilla, base game patched version, and base game + revert edition (thps3 levels with a couple extra chars)
I remember buying this game as a kid on Steam and wondering why was the skating so ass. I always thought it was just me. It was like I could land a trick then I fall face first into the ground
Well, the switch version of THPS1+2 doesnt even need internet connection unlike the PC version. And with Emulators like Yuzu and Ryujinx, and HD Textures + 60FPS Patch that makes the Switch port closer to the Console and PC version in terms of graphics, THPS1HD doesnt even have THAT reason to be played on Steam Deck or even on a Desktop anymore. Great Video btw! Subbed 💕
pizza hut demo disc...goldfingers superman on repeat and always picking kareem campbell and rocket-air-ing off every surface.....all night on sleep overs
I got this on PS3 and it's kinda bad, I even deleted it because of the weird physics. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 on Switch I got is wayyyy better and modern.
Wish I knew it was on Amazon. I bought it off a sketchy website that tried to put me on a subscription without telling me. Just because I wanted to play it on my Steam Deck.
the game was not bad, i loved it, i have it for pc .on the new tony 1+2 it has no reason to level up the hangtime cause when you do a grab, he falls very quickly and and you cannot jump as high as the original PSX and the HD version . Another thing is the soundtrack is alot better on HD. Graphics are ok, you dont need that much on a skating game. Sometimes gameplay is alot better than graphics. I just dont know why your version looks like trash lol. Mine looks nothing like that, are you on XBOX? You also have to learn how to play it , If you have trouble in downhill jam you obviously never played the original game or mastered it , I can score 2million point combos on the original psx and def can score the same points on this one.
Opinion doesn't mean shit if the idiots go buy the game. If you buy the game and then bitching about it afterwards it doesn't matter you still bought the game.
Yes it sucks ! But i hade nearly 400 h in this game! I play Tony hawk Games with the keyboard and it was not even possible to change the keys! But at this time it was the only skateboardgame on the market
What i dont understand is why yall expected something different... Its thps...its dated...people wanted more simulation so it died... Them "remastering" shit wont help...
THPS 1+2 is also super slow and the soundtrack is awful, idk why people like it at all, must be a video game drought!! cant wait for the new skate game
