As someone named Brian, I would like to formally apologize to both the viewers and to Mr. Naked Jacob for my behavior during this video. Driving while texting was negligent and I now see how I put not only myself and Mr. Jacob in danger but also all the others around us. As for my actions during Track and Field Day, my lawyers at Jakey, Jakey, & Jakey, Attorneys at Law have advised me not to go into too much detail. However, I will apologize to those I have wronged with my actions on that day. You know a RU-vidr is good when even their sponsor ads are entertaining as hell. Now I want Jakey as my lawyer now.

The Yakuza series really tried to make the player invested in it's world as it puts you in a tiny window of what it's like in the nightlife of Japan From all it's minigames, how people interact, and the fact I can go to a convenience store - buy a can of 7up and just ef off and do anything else that has nothing to do with the story It does feel like you're just playing as someone going out on the town after a long day.

I hope NakedJaked charges extra for his advertising space because this is one of the only times I've ever not just skipped over the in-video ad because it's just as entertaining as the rest of the video.

I genuinely like the way devs handled game ads in the late 90s/early 2000s. Gran turismo ads on the cars and banners, fifa with ads on the walls of the fields etc... it was so immersive

My favourite advergame is pocket monsters, it's a company that make playing cards like magic the gathering, but in the game the monsters actually roam around and you catch them in little balls to use instead of cards. They've actually got a new game coming out like next week, I wonder if it'll do well.

My "favorite" implementation of these forced ads in games was in Street Fighter V. They added t-shirts with advertisements on them that, if you won matches online while using, rewarded more currency. So even if you refused to give in and use them, everyone ELSE would be and you'd be subjected to the ad anyway.

Jakey videos always puts me in a good mood. It's the right blend of absurdist humor and information that just works. Also including fuck ups and green screen moments just makes it humble.

I actually kinda liked the Monster product placement in Death Stranding simply because the game is already insane in its premise so "hey we only drink Monster and the water changes to Monster if you fill it from a river" fits perfectly. Its not immersive etc, its just "huh yeah that makes sense."

Very glad with the mention of how the Yakuza series handles product placement (although in the 2nd its somewhat in your face for like one cutscene because it literally puts a focus on the can of Boss coffee for a few seconds) Although since I don't really know most of the brands shown in the games, I assume it works more for the Japanese audience of the games Also as a side note they have "adult video" actresses as cameos in some of their games (notably 0, 6, and Kiwami 2) and I am ashamed to have recognized some of them

When you talk about ads in video games, check out how egregious it was in Final Fantasy XV. The main female character's wedding dress was cannonically Vivienne Westwood. The camping gear your party uses is branded as Coleman. The clothes the party wears are all from the designer Roen, all the shops have the American Express logo, and this doesn't even mention the absolutely blatant ad for Cup Noodles and entire questline in the game to advertise Cup Noodles. Didn't have time to finish the game, but had time to insert all these ads.... And the movie for the game also had extra ads for Samsung and Beats.

Slowly game companies are starting to notice they can put ads in loading screens and one day this will be used as an excuse to make loading screens actually last longer purely so that gamers are forced to watch more ads.

Yakuza is a masterclass for PP in video games. These companies not only add to the immersion and help sell the world(no pun intended), but they also help fund the games and RGG has a long time relationship with these companies. It helps the games be better, it's not intrusive, and it makes the game world more realistic. Also it works on me, whenever I see a Don Quixote I'm immediately walking in lmao

I know it was a joke but Jakey taking about the history of Bakugan is something that I would pass down in my family for generations.

That "devs get payed more"- joke really got me. Anyway kinda surprised you didn't talk about the biggest product placement in games that has been in there for decades: Guns. How many 15 year olds know what a Glock is through video games or the Desert Eagle, like yeah Timmy isn't gonna buy an Artic Warfare Police cause he saw it in CSGO (and then get disappointed cause the gun in CS is the AWM) but he know nows that thing even exists. And it's not like this has no effect I have seen people get the gun, optic, grip, branded glove or backpack because they liked it in the videogame they played. I'm pretty sure there are twitch streamers that bought a gun cause it's cool in Tarkov. And don't get me wrong I myself am someone who will lookup what that weirdlooking shotgun you see for 5 seconds in the background of a movie is but still... food for thought.
