Same thing with Pitchfork. Albums that get an 8.0 rarely get the "Best New Album" thing. It has to be an 8.2 at least. Fantano's flannel is just like that.
You made me realise that I've been watching you channel for 10 years now. While I don't always agree with your opinion I appreciate it and have learned about many albums I would have probably not listened to if not for your videos. Thanks for all the hard work!
For as much as Tony himself hates it, his old project OVENS is really good if you can find their stuff. The Beau Goes to the Hospital EP is a personal favorite of mine
I hope Anthony will review RAYE’s My 21st Century Blues soon. Her song Escapism was enough for me to captivate myself to eagerly anticipate for the album, and it did not disappoint. From the confessional songwriting to the ala Amy Winehouse vocals, to its cohesiveness while exploring different themes and what she had to go through in the music industry: the album is such a chef’s kiss. Instantly made me a fan of her.
At first I didn't liked the first few tracks but as I kept listening I actually really liked it. This is not one of my favourite types of music, so I wouldn't really revisit this album a lot but I appreciated the recommendation and it grew on me as I was listening to it.
thanks for reminding me of this album!! i was following the singles bc they caught my eye on bandcamp but i guess i missed the full release. really enjoyed this one
Give Tony all the flowers (the Tony from CA, I mean). Incredible how the sweet hardcore kid from Dystrophy turned into the deep singer-songwriter then grew into the best of both worlds. Makes me smile.
U should put like what genre it is in the description I mean it doesn't take too long for me to figure it out from the video but some artists u review idk and the genre often sways whether or not I might be interested in it or the video itself, sometimes I'm not even into entire genres, for the most part. Combined w some of your description. I mean I have artists I like in almost every major genre, but there are genres I don't like the majority of the music. Still gonna listen to this guy sounds good tho and can get into a lot of his genre, sounds like he's breaking some barriers and boundaries which is good. The fact you related him at all to sebadoh, dino Jr, etc and somehow 60s psych pop is good in of itself for me
You should review BCNR's Live at Bush Hall. I know it's not an album, but it's very much worthy of recognition. You don't have to give it a score to talk about it.
mentioning the sixties influence on kill the lights but never saying a word how dissed and dismissed is as a weezer love letter one could ever do is insane, weird review
hey man can you redux review YTeezus. I feel like you were too harsh with the rankings back then, it aged pretty well so can you review it again? Thanks.

@@GreekHouseEffect I'm really impressed by that one for an artist so unknown that I can't find anything about her online. I feel like that one deserves at least a strong 7 to light 8 from Fantano.
I'm no lo-fi indie connoisseur, but I don't really see what's great about this. It sounds like the most dime a dozen thing ever. The melodies are super predictable, the guitar tones are nothing special and the vocals are honestly just kinda boring. It's not bad by any means, but there's literally nothing special about this.
