Tony Morris Went From Apostate To Governing Body! Not Clickbait 

I have panic attacks sometimes thinking about how I almost wasted my entire life in this miserable cult.

My mother who grew up in the 30s and 40s thought they she would never get old. She is now 93, so that tird old teaching had proved to be false for over 100 years now.

He did not open his bible, not even once. He only cited the watchtower, read some letters, and was just a drunken rambling mess. I’m so I glad I left this sh** show. Great work Wally 👌🏾

I was alive in 1969, and remember reading in the awake magazine that a college education would be foolish, because there's not enough time in the system to finish college, and even if you did finish college you wouldn't have enough time to use what you learned in college before the end came.

I’m a born in exjw and yes, absolutely, this is what we were told. I would never go to middle school, high school, have kids, etc. He’s such a liar.

Tony Morris' story is a demonstration of a narcissist who tries to be humble and admit faults while at the same time proving himself to be the wiser one and the only one who was right the whole time.

When I was waking up I began to drink heavily and talked to my closest friends about how all this didn’t seem right. Of course I was told to stop talking like that and Jehovah will clear it up soon. Needless to say that when I finally left and those friends are gone too. I definitely feel liberated and no longer a heavy drinker. Tony gives me that vibe he is awake or at the very least knows is all BS.

I was 15 in 1975. The "Stay Alive in '75" was HUGE thing, and that crap started in the late '60's. It was shoved down our throats and as a child being told I had to toe the line or else my family would go to Paradise without me....Tony Morris insulted a lot of older JW's saying that. All the people who thought that was funny obviously didn't know how tough it was to be a child JW then and ought to be slapped

Even to a Never-JW those letters are incredibly sad. A testament to millions of wasted lives

This is really sad and depressing. But at the same time, it should make everyone who’s escaped very thankful. Now, at least, you have a chance.

Out of all the disturbing/enlightening ExJW videos I have watched, this one felt like something ripping out the center of my chest. Tony Morris is deliberately mocking people who based their whole lives on a hope that was "guaranteed" them. People like my family who were "pillars" in the faith. Serving lifetimes to the ministry, literally building multiple congregations, living a "simple life", only to rot away in nursing homes and die an undignified death and be forgotten by the congregations they were the foundation of. They were there for 1914. They were there for "Proof Conclusive that Millions now Living will never Die". They were there for "Stay alive till '75". They were there through the turning of the 21st century. They were there humming along to "Just Around the Corner". They were there for “the final part of the FINAL part of the last days”. Now it's their fault for believing and being mistaken for what they were taught by the "spirit directed" organization?

It make me sick to see how Tony dismisses to loyalty of the followers from the 1975 generation. When I was a teen there was only one Brother that would once in awhile quietly say the end could be further than 1975. All of us young people in the hall were told to quit school and pioneer would be the wise thing to do. Several of us did. Then when 75 came and went, it was "even closer now because we are deeper into the generation that will not die off before the end." Wally you are spot on when you say Tony would have been viewed as apostate!

I was never a Jehovah Witness. But I have been watching many of your videos recently and they resonant with me a lot. I grew up in a very conservative Presbyterian family. I confess that for many years I declared that I was an atheist. But now I focus on what Jesus said, "Love God with all your heart, and mind, and soul. Love all your neighbors {everyone} as yourself."

Yes, I was thinking the same exact thing-that it was a NERVOUS laughter because that phrase “long line of delusional people” has been in their own thoughts and fears. And the fact that they had to deliver a talk like this feels like proof that they are aware that MANY, MANY witnesses are concerned about the proclamation of the end being near possibly being wrong. Otherwise, I don’t think they would choose to bring this topic up at all. They don’t want to give people ideas, but if they feel people are slipping away because they already have these ideas, then they probably feel they have to try to address it with more brainwashing tactics.

when i asked the betholite studying with me in the late 1980's could the system continue much longer. He said the last days are a composite sign. So this system cannot go on much longer. If Morris was serving as an elder back then they would have questioned his spirtual qualifactions

In the Dominican Republic, I remember Brothers taking their children out of school and going to preach in super remote areas because THE END IS COMING IN 1975. I was 10 years old, and the panic mixed with excitement was sooo real then, ALL instigated by the Organization. Tony Morris lies in this deceitful story. Liar liar Tightpants on FIRE!!!

I was a child in the 80s and specifically remember them saying don't go to school because you won't even graduate. All the covers on the Watchtower and Awake magazines from the 80's showed the sky falling fire 🔥 and brimstone. The Assembly in Yankee Stadium was crazy to think of now. A great analysis of this talk by Tony. The best I've heard because you picked up on all the emotional subtleties of not only what was said but also what was implied. I appreciate your skill and hard work. Edit: Every other time I've seen an analysis I've seen Tony as a mean spirit dogmatist (which he is) but now I see he's a weak, struggling old man trying to convince himself of these teachings as much as he is trying to pressure others to comply. I feel no empathy for this man who feels no remorse, but the situation is sad.)

I’m beginning to feel really sad for Tony. He’s so clearly struggling and in deep emotional pain, he’s stumbling in darkness. Maybe he’s waking up, maybe he’ll just dig himself deeper in, who knows. I’m just feeling so sorry for him. He’s done despicable things, and he needs to answer for them, but I hope he can get some help as well.

Now, now let's be fair. This speech probably makes sense when you're fueled by an endless supply of tippy top shelf scotch. Probably makes keeping busy a lot easier too.

I was 13 in 1972 when I started "home Bible study" with a JW. Actually it was study of blue "Truth"( that leads to the everlasing life) book. I had never baptized as JW but I refused martial arts in junior high school physical class. I told my teachers the world would be finished in a few years. Since then, I spent 20 years to convince myself in faith in Christ Jesus. Though it was long journey, I don't think it was wasted time, because I learned lots of Biblical knowledge, not WT/JW doctrines.

I was a JW kid in the 80s. If anyone in the 80s ever said that Armageddon might not come before 2020, they would have been considered not only apostate but completely alien.

What I hear from this talk is we don't know anything. We say we do but we don't know. All those people should have stood up and walked out of there. They are so brainwashed they can't even hear things when it is said out loud. It's a life of regret, about to die thinking what I could have done if not for following Watchtower.

And they still call it “truth “. Tell me this is not a cult.

It's very curious and convenient that in the seventies or eighties he would have chosen 2020 as a possibility. It seems much more likely that he would have said 2000. And curious too, that after saying 2020 he said "honest". He's not even a good liar.

I have a single percent of sympathy for Tony, because he surely has PTSD from the war and probably drinks to cope. He's so deep in this bs that he has no way out. That being said, he's still a horrible person.

Morris is making fun of the elderly that took the spiritual food around 1975 seriously! This is outrageous! But now he wants US to take his spiritual food seriously!

I think the thing is, when he speaks they're realizing the things that you say are proving that he's a liar. It makes then feel uncomfortable and want to leave. But, then they have to admit their whole belief system is wrong. Their whole lifestyle needs to change. They must feel confused, frustrated, sad, resentful, and a disillusioned. so they laugh awkwardly because they are so uncomfortable. When I hear bad news, even when it's something horrible for myself, I often awkwardly grin and giggle. If I don't, I'll start crying. I think this is the same reason why they are laughing.

I've been out a long time and find the JW videos are entertaining because they're so absurd and I can't fathom how my family and old friends still believe the nonsense! lol

Re 1975, you're 100% correct I'm born 1951. Jw all my life my great grandmother was a Bible student she would have been born around 1870. My grandma was probably a teen when they split to JW's. I never expected to go past high school (that finished for me 1967. ). No point in a career. Also I was female. No reason to do anything except get ready to be a wife. But Armageddon was the main thing. Much more important. Had to be prepared to be hated and tortured, so I could pat a lion

Believe me, I was there and active back in 1974 and the JW'S said that the end of the 6,000 years would be in 1975 and therefore the New Sytem of Things would be at hand in that year. They encourage us to quit our jobs and work part-time and do full-time preaching work because of the Urgency! So Yes, 1975 was well pronounced by the organization as the End Time and today they just Wash Such Down the drain as if nothing of such was said. Sorry, I was there, Been There and Done That!

I watched this talk on another channel. Before he said we were not helping anyone, he said if we were some of the witnesses that believed this, it's OK God loves us and we are "forgiven". Omg!!! We are forgiven for believing the crap that they told us!!!! Really????? This guy makes me sick!! Shame on him!

You give a nice comedic twist. They are able to give the errors of the beliefs an turn to convince believers to hang on. It is almost like JWs operate in a hypnotic state in a capsule of beliefs that are circular or keeps people hanging on. Amazing.

Man, I still don’t know how my coworker put up with me discussing and insisting on immoral Bible stuff for an hour every week for 7 years and then years after all that became my friend. Why the laughter? Well, the GB has been trying its hardest to convince current JWs that 1975 wasn’t a WT thing, but just a few overzealous brothers getting things wrong. The audience’s laughter seems to imply that the strategy is working with many JWs.

Hey Wally!! You asked a few times why the audience was laughing. Here is my take: Some "good JW boys and girls" took the 1975 pretty seriously. Some more than others, such as Eric's parents who sold everything and became missionaries in Colombia. The folks in the crowd (laughing) were laughing at Eric, his family an the rest of us who took this pretty seriously, as we being the delusional ones having "overanxious exuberance for the end to come. This was a disgusting video...instead of coming clean about the 1975 issue Tony just made a joke about it. I did not think it was very funny. Have a nice day!!

I came into this organization back in the early 70’s/ just newly married/ constantly feeling so disgusted and seeing we were not being told the truth about the Bible and constantly telling you to go to meetings , I saw we had no o o life but going to meetings!!! I finally told my husband I had enough, at that time the English congregation (elders) threw my husband out of the cong stating he needed to leave to the Spanish cong and worship god with his own people!!!??? What??.) he is an american\mexican decent/ nucleus of elders all bigits with no shame of what they were saying. That cult broke my marriage never feeling any shame of what they said. I knew then this was definitely a false religion (cult) they are not gods people like they claim. I feel so good not being a part of them in any way.
