Tony Pedregon Accidentally Unhooks Seatbelt 

He jumped out that car so daaam fast I thought he was about to take off running on foot...

I miss Dave McClelland and Steve Evans. They were the iconic voices of drag racing. When the chutes hit, they produce about 5 Gs of deceleration. Tony was very fortunate.

With his body still traveling at 300 mph, he’s luck he didn’t go through the windshield. Wow

I've been around drag racing my whole life my dad ran a 29' bantam altered for years before i was born and up untill i was out of high school. I had never really thought about the deceleration until i made my first full throttle full pass on alcohol in it on a fairly short shut down track and holy shit those chutes opened up and damn near picked the car up .its a amazing sensation from the crazy g's going forward and then g's slowing down all in a total of 7 seconds or less for me but now their doing it in under4

John Force and TPed made once scary duo back in the day. Either one of them could win on any given race day. I was really sorry to see Tony leave. Force has an awesome team now of course but when this next to unknown driver stepped up and automatically learned how to drive a funny car hard, it was pretty damn cool. Drove just like the old man.

Two parachute shut downs are nothing to play with. Don Garlits had to quit racing because they were pulling his eye apart.

All the safety stuff often makes the other pieces dangerous. Fairly well known what happened there. Has happened no end of times. Very bad in a sprintcar rollover! IF the arm restraints are to do any good they should be on your forearms,,, but then it is quite difficult to actually drive!! So everyone wears the stupid things above the elbow where they are useless. But hey you are wearing them! Ditto with HANS, leave them loose enough to be able to move your head and they are less than usefull.
