Take a trip with Tony through Launceston in a WW1 ambulance as he heads back to school for show and tell with a 90 year old undercover spy. See war drawings that were daringly smuggled through seven different POW camps en route to Nagasaki and drive north to the once quiet town of Legerwood, where people power turned a hazardous memorial into an extraordinary thing of beauty. The last stop is our Launceston Roadshow where a mystery painting is finally identified, as the presenter role is flipped and the locals have a chance to divulge their fascinating stories of war.

Great to see the younger generation appreciating the sacrifice of our service men and women. The soldiers and nurses would be proud to know that they are still being remembered.

I've enjoyed Sir Tony's series. I'm watching this in mid-2024 This was filmed probably 2018-19. Talking about Spanish Flu, within a couple of years we were dealing with Covid 19....

Mad Harry - never was a nickname more undeserved. As he himself said, he was always frightened, but every single time he squared up to the enemy, every time he got out of a sick bed to lead his men into hell, he pushed through that fear. His heroism wasn’t born of blood lust or recklessness - it was a calculated defeat of his own fear.

Brilliant series, how prescient talking about the Spanish Flu and a year later after upload we are in the throws of another Pandemic, one that has already taken a family member.

As a former serving member of the RAN, the fact that Teddy has been overlooked for the VC, annoys me greatly. Indeed, this decision is a travesty and was made by lesser men.

I actually love these types of shows, but watching about Tasmanian war heroes? Makes me cringe and think about the indigenous nation that was wiped out there by their ancestors, the last of these full bloods was Truganini in 1876. I do acknowledge that white folks in Australia at the time of the first world war, were still under the Union Jack, and fled back home to fight in a European Family feud. However that was their choice. Not so for the indigenous peoples of Tasmania. It's a shame old 'Baldrick' doesn't do a show about british colonialism, and its treatment of indigenous peoples around the world.

There are stories everywhere, and this is one of them. Some are interconnected, some aren't. History is what it is, nothing we can do about it except to learn - through stories. One story does not negate nor devalue another. I understand your grievance, but that is a different story altogether.

Lol, still copy and pasting your virtue signalling whine on every Australian history documentary.... what a tosser you are.
