Launceston looks like a place where people live. Unlike Sydney which is a place where you are either a tourist or spending your entire life either working or travelling to and from work.
My grandfather was in the navy and sailed throughout the South Pacific and he said that Bass Strait was the most dangerous stretch of water he ever sailed in. He hated going out through the heads because he knew they'd be in for a rough time.
My partner and I fell in love with Launceston! Wonderful people, atmosphere, and food! All of Tassie is beautiful, but we would happily move there. Totally over living in Sydney. :(
@@centralcamel that stereo type is long gone. We are as much multi cultural as any modern city or town. And before you accuse me of the same my mum is south Australian. ABC is growing more and more irritating. They think they are funny.
I’m an American and the first Golly dolls I saw were in that Umbrella Shop window. I openly gasped when I saw them! You’d get your shop burned down in the US for having those. :o
I'm from New Jersey, and years ago I visited an antique shop with my friend and found similar dolls like those. I was surprised, but have a dark sense of humor so I thought it was funny at the time. Don't recommend buying them though
Launceston is like the rest of Australia just without the abundance in crime every small town on the mainland I went to I found no shortage of people sleeping rough I don't think its to bad in Launceston by that comparison
we were there for a day last year and the first thing that happened right next to us, was a few police cars screech to a halt, a group of teens are dragged out of a store and searched... apparently they were selling drugs right inside the store... not sure what the average day is like in Launceston crime wise, but that day was at the very least entertaining for a couple of tourists lol
Haha you’re so funny. Launceston is ok with lovely architecture. I live in St Helens. Beautiful town. 😂 Beautiful state. I really enjoyed seeing you at Brunswick Heads.
Especially a Draught. I live in Hobart and it tastes like horse urine. It used to be drinkable. Boags Draught was tonnes better until they changed it recently. Now it just heaps better.
Just the other day I walked past the old umbrella shop with my mum. Remembering this video, I say quite loudly to her "I really don't like this shop, I can't believe they would have those racist dolls in the front window." One thing I didn't realise was that the owner of the store was walking right past me as I said that. I recognised her, looked back, and surely enough she was walking into the shop and looking right at me. Oops.
i grew up with robertson's jam golliwogs, they were part of my childhood. now i live in tucson and have lived, worked, and been shot at by people from all over the world. golliwogs are part of my treasured childhood in a gentle land. i never correlated them with black people in my mind and never treated black people like golliwogs even though when i was a kid, "the black and white minstrel show" was still on. whether it started off right or not, people do this because it's part of their heritage that they love. teddy bears aren't meant to be bears, black people aren't *black* please try and have a broader consideration so that you won't hate people trying to remember their childhood. i seriously doubt any melanated person is going to see those in a window and feel hated unless they're part of the current generation of crazy young really crazy mental people.
good question and one i'm not sure I want to answer.Possible towns like Leigh Creek and Ceduna for being over 8 hours away from Adelaide and probably not worth the journey. I am definitely no expert when it comes to which town to joke on here in S.A. hell you could probably go the whole way and joke on Adelaide itself being a pointless capital city to visit.
MOST CITIES HAVE TRAFFIC ISSUES.THATS JUST THE WAY IT IS. LTN & HOBART ARE NOTORIOUS FOR ONE WAY STREETS. BUT I REAKON HOBART TAKES THE CAKE! THE LARGER THE CITY THE MORE LOONY THE DRIVERS. THEY DRIVE AT ONE SPEED ONLY.FLAT OUT.AND IF YOU DONT KNOW THE AREA THAT WELL..GOOD LUCK GETTING SO EONE TO LET YOU IN OR BE PATIENT.
Hahaha, that boags vs cascade thing is great. 20 years ago he would probably be lynched for doing that. I remember some northern pubs wouldn't even stock cascade just coz it was from the southern/hobart brewery.
THEN YOU NEED TO GET OUT MORE AROUND TAS AND THE MAINLAND MORE.THEN YOU WILL SEE WHAT A HOLE REALLY LOOKS LIKE. LTN HAS AN AQUATIC CENTRE, BEAUTIFUL GORGE...LOTS OF FACILITIES MOST SMALLER PLACES DONT HAVE.
I visited in 1990, enjoyed myself a lot. The museum was great. I thought it was better than Melbourne's. Is it still good? It had an excellent planetarium. If you weren't half the planet away, I'd visit again!
THEN VISIT SMITHTON..OR CRESSY...OR PORT AUGUSTA...YOU PEOPLE JUST DONT KNOW WHAT BAD REALLY IS. GET OUT MORE AND YOU MIGHT APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE IN LTN.
