Tony Schiavone Shoots on Steve McMichael 

To the untrained eye, on paper he had all the tools to be a Pro Wrestler. I don't know anything about football but I'm guessing his position didn't require a lot of co-ordination because he didn't seem to have much in the ring. He had a 'loud' personality but it was more annoying than charismatic. Still can't blame WCW for taking a chance on him. He had name recognition and he was a legit huge strong guy.

rainman11985 timing and coordination are of the utmost importance in football, which is why the Chicago Bears were Super Bowl champions during Steve McMichael's Steve McMichael was charismatic, he had a lot of energy that he brought to the show, but just like wrestling, for a guy who never announced a wrestling match in his life, he didn't do too bad either, you are right, on paper he had all the tools to be a successful pro wrestler, but he was just too old, Diamond Dallas Page took a huge risk by becoming a pro wrestler at 36, but because his body wasn't as banged up as Steve McMichael's was, page had a more successful career

@@rainman11985 he was old. The NFL destroys your body. Depending on position, guys are physically destroyed by age 32. They don't call the league "Not For Long" for nothing.

@ShadowAngel those are your feelings, other people feel differently, I can name you 10 wrestlers who were 10 times worse than Steve McMichael, and all those other guys that you mentioned didn't play football for nearly as long as Steve Mongo McMichael did, Steve Mongo McMichael even said himself in an interview in 2011 that he knew his career wasn't going to last long and that he was only doing it just for fun, he had already had both knees replaced before he even started wrestling, and Paul Roma and Sid Vicious were just as bad if not worse horsemen than Mcmichael, and what do you mean age is a lame excuse? How many 39 year old wrestling rookies do you know? None, that's how many, you must not think injuries happen in football and football players stay young forever

He almost killed Steve Regal in that infamous match. That’s why people hate him. It’s unfair because all of the football players turned rasslers hurt people. Not that that was a good situation...but that’s the only reason. Had that not happened he’d be remembered more.

It's funny, people shit on that guy so much today, but he wasn't that terrible IMO. He was decent as a heel on the mic, and although he was limited in the ring, he had good intensity and some decent power moves.

It's funny that I see all these comments about Mongo sucking as a wrestler. The irony is there's alot of football players who didn't last in the NFL becoming wrestlers. My gosh at least Mongo has a superbowl ring.

@@profshad3429 I am just saying he accomplished something that wasn't predetermined and not scripted. I must say that deserves more credit than what you are suggesting. But yeah I am agreeing with you on the fact he was ok. I actually never liked him enough to root for him. He just seemed very slow with everything he did in the ring hehe.

That wouldn't have went anywhere, neither man had the experience to carry on a lengthy Feud, plus Steve McMichael was really beat up from his football days, his wrestling career was over as soon as it started

He's my next door neighbor! Been friends for about 6 years,when him and his family moved to romeoville and opened a very legit restaurant! My kids call him uncle mongo. Very very dear man.

I remember that, he was part of Lawrence Taylor's crew of linebackers in the lead-up to Wrestlemania. Kama came out and picked a fight with Mongo.

I think they wanted to prove that anyone would have been a better Horseman than Paul Roma. And to be fair, they were right.
