She is gifted but her obsession made her fall from grace. There are a number of people who were born in toxic family dynamics yet they did not let it get to them, instead of letting the negative feeling control their lives, they used it as a positive motivation to break from such trauma and be the best inspiration.

I SMH at how one whack on a knee, of all things, proved to be the biggest shot in the arm for an entire sport and turned it not only into a media circus, but thrust it into a spotlight which it had never seen before. It boggles the mind to realize this entire debacle was almost 30 years ago. Tonya Harding had an absolute nightmare upbringing compared to Nancy Kerrigan. Harding's early and young life was one of instability and physical and emotional abuse. Inevitably, she would make ill-advised choices as an adult and find herself collaborating with unsavoury people. A vicious scheme would ultimately cause Harding to lose her career, her dreams, and earn herself a permanent, disgraced reputation. It was good that Nancy Kerrigan was able to recover in time to perform in the Olympics that year. However, following some insensitive pratfalls off the ice on her part, many were relieved that a wide-eyed, orphan teenager from Ukraine edged out Kerrigan for Olympic gold that night in Lillehammer and slam the breaks on what would've been a barrage of made-for-TV American movies and gave the world a fairy tale come true.

I happened to live in Detroit in the 90s. This event really was shocking to everyone. I felt so bad for Nancy. There was no need for this to happen. Just goes to show that evil never wins at the end. Tanya was a depraved little girl that let her evilness take over. She got what she deserved.

Wow. Some of these comments are brutal, assuming Tonya is guilty of planning the attack. Sean the self proclaimed "body guard", hitman Shane and Derrick the driver all stated in court that Tonya had no prior knowlege of the attack on Nancy. They all sound dumb and dumber but Jeff claimed it was all Tonya's idea. The dumb ones said it was all Jeff too. I'm inclined to believe the dumber ones. The judge did too. Tonya was not found guilty of instigating any attack on any person. She was guilty of keeping quiet after the fact, finding out about her husband's involvement by her own self admission. Is she truly guilty of ordering a maming "hit" on a former friend and fellow competitor?

Why was the movie called 'I, Tonya'? The person attacked was Nancy Kerrigan, and it wasnt proven Harding instigated the attack so why her name for the title? Her ex husband and hired thug were responsible apparently she had nothing to do with it. Also, Kerrigan, after being bludgeoned in her knee made a rapid recovery and competed again soon after the attack. That's one heck of a recovery. On Good Morning America it's mentioned she was attacked with a crowbar, yet Wikipedia says it was a police telescopic baton. Which one is the truth? It smells off to me. And before anyone hits back with shit iam allowed to have my opinion. This is the comments section not bitching session.

I felt there was something missing in this film, the triple axel, that we're told is a sight to see, do we get to see it???? No. Then, the sound of Nancy, following her being attacked, which we're told everyone remembers, it's on a video where she's heard sobbing + asking why????? And again, do we get to see + hear this video?????? No. Talk about a tease, we get to hear about stuff, but we don't get to experience it, we're told about things we can't see or hear. Not much of a documentary, it's a podcast more than anything, all we see are people talking, often about stuff it's no good listening to people talk about. The Mona Lisa, for example, you don't want to hear someone describing it, the same as a decent wine, anything other than tasting it is just plain wrong. This show is just plain wrong, there's nothing to see, these people should stick to magazines, they don't seem to understand TV, they make radio content, all you see are people talking. Have you seen Tonya Harding do a triple axel????? No? Neither have I.............. Which is surprising, given that I've just watched a documentary about the girl, but all I saw her do was talk. There were a couple of flashes of her skating, blink + you'd miss them. 1/10 is how I'd rate this film, if you don't like skating, or Tonya Harding, I'd recommend it........... Or maybe your TV is broken + only the sound works, this would be perfect, you literally will hardly miss a thing........
