I got my Hill People Gear’s Tarahumara pack. Same openings style as this pack. I just put my small items in different pouches and dump them in the pack. But it’s also hard to put some box-like thing into the pack. This Aer pack seems a good choice for my to upgrade my pack
Had the original aer duffel as a one bag gym / work bag for a little while. But for me it wasn’t big enough to hold all my gym and work stuff. I did like it though and my wife now uses it. I love their new xpac collection especially that orange interior. As for bag openings top load for edc, duffel for gym and clamshell for travel.
The cool thing about this backpack vs. Clam shell opening is that it does have a smaller footprint which is nice if you happen to be in a crowded coffee shop or Subway. Your contents are not fully exposed. This is what I experienced when I used to travel aer backpack 33l for the gym. It took a lot of bench real estate.
Definately clam shell opening. Though this bag looks interesting if I was just packing clothing for a carry on. But I don’t typically carry on much clothing and I don’t do one bag travel yet.
I'd prefer a bigger bag. Being 196cms tall it might suit me better! You mentioned that it doesn't stand up on it's own. What other bags have you reviewed do? I know my peak design does.
Hey Bo! thank you for all your reviews. I have the CHZ22 from Evergoods and my wife is looking for a bag that is a little bigger than mine and I think 25L it's the max size to fit under the seat of a plane (most of them). The CHZ22 fits very well. What is your thoughts about the size os that one when compares with CHZ? Thank you so much if you can answer.
I’m looking for a bag that I can use for edc if needed but also for Traveling nos as a solo bag but more like an add (suitcase+backpack) to take when visiting and carry anything needed. Was looking at art backpacks since they seem really good but I’m on the fence between this and the travel pack or flight pack.... do you have any insight? Any advice? Is the travel pack too big or the flight pack too small (can’t see them in person so inform really know their real size)
love the jacket you're wearing here (and the shoes too) - can we get some details on it? I see it has a tag "rode" but not sure if that's the brand or..? - ok now im thinking the Rode tag is your mic...
Personally, I still prefer clam shell opening but I presumed alot of guys going to the gym or short trip would prefer the duffle style. Is there a secure place to keep a laptop in this bag?
Nice video, again. XPAC sailcloth is a very intresting material, and it has many qualities other fabrics often dont have - however as long as the seams are not taped, it isnt waterproof. so while the key zipper pocket on the top might be in danger more than other areas on the bag, after extensive rainfall the water eventually could get through. since XPAC is a bonded fabric, this can only happen at the seams, so it should not be too much of an issue for the normal (non-life dependent) usage. i really like the idea of those expanding water bottle pockets, that is a relly interesting construction detail. in my opinion the bag looks not too big on you (and the jacket/coat fits you really well, btw).
Thanks, mate. That's a lot of good info about xpac. And thanks, the bag in combination with a coat and all black does not look that big when looking at this video. But it was pretty warm last week and with just a short it does look pretty big.
@@Youknowthebo Yeah, I kinda wish you would've showed how this bag looks like with a shorter jacket or no jacket at all. The long coat skews the proportions a bit.
Bo I have always liked backpacks which have a lot of organization compartments, but after watching your reviews have gradually got into modular and pouch based packing. Testing out the CPL24 which I got for my wife and ordered the GR1 today. Loving the clamp shell opening as I am able to fit more stuff with a much compact backpack and still able to reach stuff as needed. Specially for train commuters bags like CPL24 are easy to keep in the lap and still be comfortable.
Hey Bo, what do you end up doing with your extra bags? Are you still using the xpac duffel pack? If not I would love to buy it from you if you are interested in selling of course!
Hi Bo, please review Tiny Houdini by Life Behind Bars :) OR please recommend an alternative cellphone pouch that can be attached to the straps?Danke and hello from Kyiv, Ukraine
I have that one. But I'm not sure if I will actually make a video review about it. However let me know if you have any specific questions about it. It's a cool pouch and I haven't seen anything comparable yet
One concern I have with the Duffle Pack's design is that its both rounded and structured - this means that the materials are at risk of being punctured when you have a square box with corners in the bag. I had that precise scenario where I tried to use the bag for travel, and a plastic box's corner pressed up against the material eventually creating a small hole. It's the old square box in a round bag problem. If you are carrying a box, you are better off with a backpack with squared corners
I don't know. I have an intuos but never had the cintiq in my hands. The MacBook pro 15" fits perfectly in the laptop slot, but the laptop compartment has some more room.
Hi Bo.I enjoyed this review. Can I ask you an Aer -related question?. I want to order the Aer Day Sling 2 and use for my EDC. I'm 54 years old....am I too old to carry a sling on my back? I ask this because I don't see older gents wearing slings and all video reviews of the Aer sling I've seen feature 20's/30's-something Millennials. Can you give me your objective opinion on this question? thanks so much Bo. I really enjoy your channel.
That's a good question. I personally believe that it clothing and accessories like a bag in this case is always a matter of how you wear it. And which attitude you have with it. If you do not feel comfortable with it, people will notice subconsciously. So if you want to carry a sling bag go for it. If you wear it as if it is a part of you and it's the most normal thing in the world you can definitely pull it of 😉 obviously it also depends on the rest of your outfit. A sling with a suit definitely looks odd but if combined correctly it could be possible. Imho age isn't the determining factor 😉
It seems like you dog liked it he gave it a smell and did not look offended, I'm sure he marked it with his fur. Not standing up, I think that's a non-issue for this bag considering its design being more in the duffel category rather than a backpack.
@@Youknowthebo Dogs seem to be good at judging. 😀 I saw a sticker that said "If my dog does not like you, I probably won't like you" And there is some truth to that. I'm a cat person but dogs are amazing creatures too.
I purchased this handmade edc bag from dimitro , perhaps you guys would love it. Visit d4_bgs on insta. Look for his waistbag whbag. I am currently using it and it truly the best in my opinion. Sorry just sharing, love your channel! Great content as always man!
