In today's video I have picked up a Magic Bag from a posh cafe in Dorchester called Yalbury Cafe. I then travelled to a nearby Greggs to pick up their Magic Bag. And I am going to be comparing the two!
Which will have the better product? Which will be the better value?

@@timspencer3348 they seem a little more regimented as to what they put in the bags now (1 filled roll, 1 pastry, 1 cake and 1 sausage roll). Still good value for £3.15 mind (especially if you end up with a BOGOF!)

Luv a greggs which was founded in Newcastle (Geordieland) in the same place I live n grew up Gosforth 😊 shop still on the same sight .Nice1 big G😊

Am I right in thinking that they used the original shops when they are trying out new items to sell? Meaning you get the chance to try out things we won’t get to know about for a few months after? Now that’s gotta be cool!

Yeah, if I can find bags from similar kinds of places then I will do more like it. There are a few independent cafes that advertise on the app, so if I can get one of those and then a Costa, Nero or Starbucks etc. for comparison then it’s an interesting experiment!

I would have been happy with both bags. The posh one had some great pastries. I love the chocolate twists. What a touch getting a second bag for free, think they always sell out quite quickly my way so no chance of that here. I've not ordered one for several months now though as I was getting far too many yum yums etc. I prefer getting reduced sarnies from the local co op now if I need some for a packed lunch.

I don’t think I have ever been given a yum yum in any of my Greggs bag… maybe they just sell out round my way! I agree, both bags were good in their own way. The cafe stuff was very tasty, and the free bag from Greggs meant I got a lot of bang for my buck.

What part of Canada are you in? I guess you must be coming out of the most brutal part of winter now? Yeah Greggs is decent, not the healthiest but solid, flavoursome grub at an affordable price. Thanks for watching 😀

I'd have gone for the lemon tart Greeno. It looked similar to the ones you can get in Costa. Must say I also love a pain au raisin, especially if its got that lovely sticky top. You did well at Greggs. I'd have been very pleased to receive that ham and cheese baguette. Keep them coming Greeno. I always get a bit excited to see you've been tapping the app 😂

Yeah, with the pain au raisin the stickier and gooeier the better right! I’m always on the lookout for new things to try on TGTG, the options are a little limited in Dorset. Might have to revisit a couple of classics. Not done a Toby carvery or breakfast one for a long time. I did notice Pizza Express putting a bag up, but it’s quite a long drive and really late collection time, but I will get there one day.

Love the free extras! There is a pizza place here where occasionally I have been given an extra medium pizza for free when picking up my tgtg order.

I've had two magic bags from smaller café style places and theyve both been rubbish. One was just two tiny breakfast wraps (which were pretty much tasteless, for what it's worth) and the other magic bag elsewhere was just three cookies and two tiny bottles of orange juice (the McDonald's ones). In neither case did the quantity reach the original store value so I was basically scammed, but I don't think the smaller places really give a stuff about following the 'original value' side of things because they know you've only spent £3.49.

If you can demonstrate that the value of the product is below the advertised then TGTG are pretty good about refndung you. It's tricky though, cos if it's a posher place, a croissant can be best part of £3 if you eat in.

The cafe did much better with their packaging. At the very least, those stickers should go. Do you remember how a paper bag used to be folded to help prevent it from opening and it didn’t need stickers?

The reason Greggs use the stickers is so that you can identify what the product is, and it highlights any potential allergens. Of course, being a TGTG bag you are not ordering specific items, and as an example one bake looks very similar to all the others. So there has to be a way to identify them from a safety point of view.

Staff in FELTHAM centre one are miserable now and give you the worst stuff rating going down quick AVOID.

@@GreenoEats I think so, it was between christmas and new year, i just had a quick look and noticed it still had 5 slots available and it was closing soon. When i got that someone was being served before me, but after he left the lady serving him just turned around and left me there and starting doing paperwork, eventually she turned around and said can i help you in a way like why are you here? Strange anyway there were no bags made up so she made one in front of me and i watched her go to every section and give me the worst of everything and the bear minimum, the rating is going down fast. I know why this is i think but cannot say on here. i was given 1 egg sarnie 1 tuna sarnie pack of four cookies and a stone cold chicken slice. It closed in 10 mins the shelfs had baghettes a toasty some nice mexican wraps, the sweets were stacked. I might go in there and have a pop to be honest but probabaly best not to.

@@Chubbaknuckles that’s poor. I have been in some places where they didn’t have bags ready, but they pretty much let me choose myself then. A couple of places have been more awkward, but I just won’t go back to them 😂 I guess you were just unfortunate to find a member f staff who just wanted to get out ASAP and you disturbed them from closing up.

@@Chubbaknuckles so you get given the gift cards as a kind of joke around your name… that joke would work better in your favour if you were called Hugo or Ralph 😀 Could be worse, imagine if your name was Mark, you might get Primark cards!
