Lockjaw why do you think so ? I feel they are enough. Of course both Variant’s and Comics Explained’s styles and formats are different. They do not cover complete story arcs like Robb here does. But they do awesome history of characters. And I like their reading recommendations too. But I’m genuinely interested in knowing your reasons for disliking them though. Just curious.

@@papelhat4265 Even in the comic because of a plot that needed to happen because of causality the infinity gauntlet was nerfed and in the animation as well. Then in the final fight, we got to see Thanos with infinity gauntlet completely obliterated the combined forces of the avengers and the universe itself that compose of beings like Infinity, Eternity, Celestial and other constant beings in the universe as if they were no more than dust. And in an instant, he remakes the universe in his image completely becoming omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence in that particular universe, and in an instant, he reverts back everything completely destroying that timeline and restored the universe he just destroyed. That is the power of the infinity gauntlet with its gems and we don't even know the limit. The infinity gauntlet on the movie is on another whole level of nerfing in the history of nerf because technically and logically there was no way to win against Thanos once he possesses the gauntlet. So, for plot sake, they needed to nerf to the sad point where it is a mere trinket that could not even overpower a mere Stormbreaker that could not even level a mountain, the only thing that it was unique to was its ability to kill countless lives with a snap that also have a great price. The gems with themselves were also very satisfyingly underwhelming.
Just a Happy American-Canadian coming from a sentry fan boy but franklin richards is more powerful being able to copy anyone powers he could simply copy sentry he can’t kill sentry but I’m sure he is more than able to put sentry down, maybe merg sentry could beat franklin richards with his reality warping and shape shifting to trick franklin but not really sure
Why does marvel have so many cool characters that are too strong for the mcu? Marquis of death, the sentry/the void, god King doom, rune king Thor, and worldbreaker hulk. I want to see those guys tear shit up
I can’t even begin to imagine how it would be portrayed on screen. It would absolutely be amazing (aside from the budget team in tears) but the MCU is incredibly nerfed so I don’t think even the celestial entities are appearing.
@@sanddry738 its nerfed because incredibly OP characters are fucking sleep and adapting power levels faithfully would leave these movies as ignored as the comics theyre based on. Power level is just a stat and when its the end all be all. Its fucking boring
Rob is the cosmic entity "Explained". He is the embodiment of explaining things. His powers of explanations are virtually omnipotent and omniscient, giving him knowledge of all comic book lore. He has also been said to have knowledge of alternate comic book realities.
Personally I think it would be pretty cool to see a "What If" where one of these truely chaotic and absurdly powerful entities enters the MCU and wreaks havoc on everything.

Remember when the Absorbing man who absorbed even Odin's power, said that he couldn't completely absorb even a fraction of the Sentry's power? Remember when he ripped Ares in half? Death nihlus would wreck sentry. Like the man became so powerful he poofed away and became the power itself. That’s beyond even dr Manhattan and sentry combined. Nihlus became a the force of the Star Wars universe itself.
@@grumpycat6429 not really. becoming one with the dark side sounds impressive but it's not all that much tbh. Darth nihilus has never done anything beyond solar system level. And even then it's only the scope at which he can use the force, he's never implied to be able to instantly destroy a solar system or anything like that. Compared to even herald level characters that's really not impressive. Those dudes can withstand supernovas casually, silver surfer does it for fun. Sentry is shown to be above herald level consistantly, and since he stalemated galactus he's at least a universal level threat. At the very very least he's galaxy level if you want to really lowball him. The mcu is in a completely different level of power than starwars in which being able to loft a star destroyer is considered one of the most impressive force feats. Or planet level attacks are considered absolute top tier. That's pretty low in the marvel cosmic hierarchy.
Big Dibber nick Darth nihilus is and was too powerful for the Star Wars universe. That’s why he just poofed. He was literally becoming so powerful that being around him could drain the life out of your body and that was him not even trying to kill you. His mere presence wanted you dead. That and he became strong enough to strip an entire planet of its force. No wonder they just wrote that he became one with the force. And with the force being like a universal constant in the Star Wars universe one can say his current existence is that of a higher dimension. Who knows how high. But there was also a lady who once tried and said she could literally break the force and if true then the force isn’t some higher dimensional force. It can only exist and thrive in the star wars universe. But the lady never got close to doing it so it’s just theory. If true. The force is limited. If not.......NIHILUS wrecks.

I think you glossed over a big part of what makes the Sentry/The Void really cool. The reason they're so cool is because the struggle between the Void and Sentry over Bob's mind makes him the insane guy we saw in his original run. He's Superman with Dual Personality Disorder. There are days where the Avengers couldn't count on the Sentry cause Bob was having a mental breakdown. He was unstable and had to count on people like Captain America and Iron Man to inspire him and help him get to where he needed to be. When they went underground during Dark Reign, Bob had no one to turn to except for Osborn, who used the Sentry to do increasingly terrible things (such as liquidating Namor's people single handedly and killing Molecule Man). So as a result the Void sort of got stronger and stronger. By the time we got to Siege, Sentry was completely dependent on Osborn for direction and was Osborn's attack dog. Sentry was busy fighting Thor until Osborn told him to smash the city. And he just turned on a dime and decimated Asgard by FLYING INTO IT. Even I'm missing some key parts. But yea, you see how intricate this character is, and that kinda makes him impossible to shoehorn into the MCU. That sucks cause he's one of the guys who got me back into comics.
Flash got his power from hard water, which is ice btw, Superman is just an alien who's a god, Martian Manhunter is an alien with no further development, that's how golden age worked, also Bendis heavily hinted at Sentry and the Void being biblical in origin and that serum was a catalyst.
Technically not. The void is an ancient evil that was seemingly woken by the serum or something like that. Think that him getting the powers directly from the serum had been retconned when he reappeared and was Osbournes attack dog in siege.

The Universal constant Void is actually Oblivion and is more-so a representation of what was before the Mavel Multiverses existence. There have been avatars of Oblivion that have shown up from time to time that, while being an self described infinitely small part of itself, was still wildy powerful. Because of this there are some theories that have bounced around stating the Void to be just another one of these aspects or avatars of Oblivion, while plausible it is still just a theory
If it's based on the comics in full form, They don't need to right now. He got revealed in the newest graphic novel that he's not whom he says he is and there is a being(s) beyond his power. It also explained how the beyonders were able to overthrow the living tribunal too in secret wars or the lead up that is. And explained why toaa didn't interfere in the collapse of the multiverse. The book is called the infinity conflict 😁 came out last week
This maybe a silly theory: I guess in order to have Sentry’s entry into the MCU or television screens is to have his origin story played out as the forgotten marvel character, the avengers encounters an abandoned old or ancient site on one of their missions, finding an old or ancient computer which had an entry about a previous experimented super warrior candidate codenamed sentry and his whereabouts unknown, unbeknownst to the avengers that sentry lived a very long life and secretly blending in with humanity for a very long time, accidentally he pops out of obscurity having a somewhat premonition of a much bigger threat to the world after thanos, Sentry saw this threat as being “dark” (unaware that he may be sensing his archenemy’s return), eventually set upon and captured by either Shadow King or Amatsu-Mikaboshi as a dark pawn, spawns the Void out of sentry, uncontrollably rampages parts of the world which alerted the Avengers to take action.
I like that the only way they could stop him at one point was just to erase every bodies memory of Robert, Sentry, and Void. I think my favourite part is the way he counter balances any heroic act of Sentry by committing an equally horrific one.
How about Surtur? Imo, Surtur with the Twilight Sword is right around the same level as Dormammu. Also, Odin and Dormammu are also widely considered equals. This was shown when they were both summoned by Order and Chaos.
First, I'd like to thank you for rekindling my love of comics. The Batmetal series appeared on my playlist and I was amazed at how crazy good things have become. I am now watching past episodes to catch up on all the amaaazing story lines I've missed over time. If you ever get some spare time, it'd be nice to compress some of the story lines that have multiple parts, like you did with batmetal. I enjoy sitting back and watching those super long episodes. Thanks for all the hard work you put in, your videos of comics, are hands down the best around!
Hey Rob! I started watching your videos about 6-7 months ago and I'm just blown away by the scope of some of the stories you cover. I love that I can learn more about stories and characters that otherwise I wouldn't know about, but after having watched your videos I can go out looking for stories on some of the heroes and villains I find most interesting. So this sounds like Rob is stating that Robert Reynolds would be suffering from Dissociative Identify Disorder, in that Sentry is a Persona, Void is a Persona, and then you have the regular Robert Reynolds persona.

i paused this at 6:00 to say i came here to find out about the voids powers and why he wont work in the movies....i'm 1/2 way into this video and i know how the sentry was made, i know who wrote him, i know why marvel knights was launched i'm learning who wrote what stories and i'm about to learn about the fall of azguard.....when you say comics explained you really mean it. comicsotrian videos make you feel like you read the comic.....your videos make you feel like you read the comic, know what paper it was printed on, who made it, the molecular structure of the ink that was used so on and so forth XD what i'm saying is you explain so much about comics i think by now i know more than the people that read them daily.

So saying that he somehow did is Pis writing since by all accounts he was done for. He had no feat comparable to reality manipulation to owen reece at the time so suddenly making him stronger again is PIS. Now for when he merged with VOID that is irrelevant to the convo of pis writing vs molecule man. The cosmic cube is interesting statement i would need to read that issue again since i know i missed a few comics. However sentry does not trump molecule man especially in matter or reality manipulation.
I wish the Void was like a dark version of the Sentry (black hair, silver assets instead of gold, a V instead of an S) instead of a generic scary monster.
Crazy that this came up in my recommendations just now. I was playing _MCOC_ earlier and said out loud that I really wanna unlock The Void. I already have Sentry whose S3 power is to do an attack as the Void, but I want the actual *Void* Void.

You'd need to bring in Legion into the MCU and have him use his abilities without limit, I think that with every one else combined they could possibly take down the Void. That's all I got.
I really want to see Sentry and the Void as an MCU storyline. It's perfect. What better way to turn a combined film universe on its head with a storyline and character that outright defies the established continuity.
The sentry and the void are both two every interesting characters... both exceedingly powerful! Now here is a what if scenario, what would happen to the void and sentry if they were both separated? Who would in a fight? It would be awesome to see a storyline or even just a one off issue with both the sentry and void facing off in full fledged fight! It would also be good for a fully fleshed out comic book series as well imo! 👌
I respectfully disagree about the infinity gauntlet on Thanos in the MCU vs The Void. If you remember, we don't even see the full scope of what Thanos could do in the movie because the moment he got the mind stone from Vision the movie was basically over. For all we know, Avengers 4 will be off the scale in terms of what we see Thanos start doing... But maybe not. I'm just saying, I think you spoke too soon.
The reason it seems weaker is that it almost breaks from the snap. The comic version never showed stress from using the gems but the movie version seems to have only one use left for something of that scale.
@@votsl I've seen endgame and it proves the gauntlet and Gems are weaker in the movies even more. Spoiler The fact Thanks was able to use their power to get rid of them shows they aren't as powerful as in the comics. They tried that method in the comics and it doesn't work. Also, Hulk couldn't handle the stones either, as he has a permanently crippled arm after his use. Stark obviously couldn't handle it because he is a normal human. The fact that it kills people that wear the gauntlet also shows how it's been underpowered in the movies as anyone can wear it in the comics (making it arguably more dangerous).

Not only could the Void work in the MCU, it probably will. Of course, like the IG, there will be nerfs to make it easier to work. I totally see them introducing the Sentry in a film and building the Void over a phase.
It seems like Rob really wanted to do a video about the marquis of death at the end there...what he should have done in the first place. This video was still enjoyable tho.
So this one is a weird story for me... when I was a kid in the 90s playing with action figures, I always imagined an overreaching villain named "Void", who was a dark black entity from the void of space that would consume all. This was 94. Then as an adult, I found out about this villain, it kinda blew my mind. So was I a bright kid, or is Marvel so hacky at times they literally make characters a 10 year old could imagine?
The Sentry has the same power as the void, and the void can alter reality. Superman literally can’t beat that. It would be like Superman somehow beating up Dr. Manhattan.
One of my favorites is futuristic hulk when everyone is pretty much dead, and hulk pretty much took over banners body, and hulk looks all old and evil. He’s super smart, it’s pretty sick, I wish they make a movie off that hulk
Honestly, Thanos would've been taken out if Thor went for his head. And he had the dsmn gauntlet. So idt anyone in retrospect is too powerful for the MCU cause all the damn characters get nerfed. Some harder than others. The void would probably get the Surtur treatment tbh.
Jon Ashby to be fair Thor survived the thing that was needed to create stormbreaker. Then the stormbreaker survived the gauntlet. So because everything was nerfed so far about the gauntlet I don’t think it would have really done much to Thor lol. He had a stone itself full on pressed up against his head earlier in the movie.
