NEVER EVER allow a car to idle to warm. It runs very rich when its cold, and that washes oil back down the bores, increasing wear dramatically.Its also not ideal for your cat...if you haven't deleted it / them. Drive it gently (not too high in revs, don't put too much load on low down in the rev range) and because there is now a light load on the motor, the warm up period is dramatically reduced in duration. And don't let some old guy tell you, "Ya gotta get the oil to all the galleries", that happens in the first 30 seconds. Just drive it gently until the temp gauge starts climbing a bit, then work it a LITTLE harder, increasing in the work on the motor as the temp allows you to. Duh. One of the worst fallacies in motoring.
Lovely machines. Does the owners manual say to be ready to drive off immediately when the car is started, and keep it under 4K rpm for the first 10 minutes? It says that in many recent generation 911 owners manuals.
Good in car camera shots. Very slick. Buy the way love the car but never let the car idle to warm it up. Worst thing you can do to enhance premature engine wear

Keep it and sell the 911. I have a '14 Cayman S with PDK and I absolutely love it! I miss the manual, but PDK is faster and nearly telepathic. I have the Cantrell exhaust, which is like PSE in full time sport mode. Great video!
Thanks for video. I live in NJ too. And bought a 2016 Cayman base preowned from PM Porsche in Dec 2020. Love the car. It is stick too, a must!. I did some minor cosmetic modes (clear side markers) and had soul cat back exhaust installed. That really transformed the car, plus got ride of the ugly “mail slot” exhaust. It looks like you converted to the shorter gear shift lever. Couple questions, was it an easy install? And do have issues getting car into reverse. I read some comments on other sites that said that could be an issue. As you the know the stock shifter is way too tall… but I wonder if it comes from the factory that way for a reason?. I was going to buy the gear shifter part from Suncoast Porsche. They have really good prices. Any comments appreciated.
@@TommyLGarage You can mis-shift anywhere, anytime. On track, you'd expect lots of rev range one and two because you can trigger those running up to the limiter in gear. Anything over range two is a mechanical over-rev and not something that's simply the 'norm' for track driving. Having rev ranges above range two is not a sign of track driving, it's just a mis-shift, that's the point. Loads of rev range one and two could indicate track use, but you can do that on the road too. Anyway, ignitions in range five is not great.

Tommy you seem to really enjoy the sound your Porsche makes. If your EV made artificial, but convincing sounds that synced up with your actual driving behavior would you enjoy that more than the silence? I think no…the engine noise needs to be real, to be satisfying…I’m not sure why that is though.
The NA Engine Porsche gonna be rare. Sale it if you found another one you really like. Otherwise keep it and drive it. Plus the price keeps going up. I think you won't loss money on the Cayman. LOL...
@@bomboyagegaming but he had some rev range report for 5000rpm in the video, and thats below redline? Maybe you are correct and video was wrong though. I have no experience in this area.

@@rafagelzok1746 I own the 991.2 and also driven the Cayman and the handling are similar. I know mid engine is the perfect spot for weight distribution, but somehow on the 911 they make it work even though engine sitting on the back, but on each new generation the engine is pushed back more forward.

Fun to see you take a tour of the different models Tommy. Mine is a 992 C2S with aerokit and heavily optioned. What I don’t understand about you is why you are such a manual transmission snob. I track my car 2-3 times a year at Willow Springs or Laguna if I can and lots of mountain driving in between and I guarantee I can turn lap times far faster than you with my PDK and leave you for dead in the canyons. I don’t know why, but your manual trans obsession really puts me off watching your videos, it gets quite annoying. Just one opinion. BTW, I use your mudflaps on my GLC63 and they work great!
I grew up driving manual transmission cars and I really enjoy the connection and gives me with the car. I do not find it annoying at all. Actually sometimes when I drive a shift for no reason just so I can shift. I’m just strange like that ha ha
