Nice setup! Lots of great tips and ideas here. Good tour of the veto bag too. Constructive comment on the step bits... I have that DeWalt one and others. The spiral flute ones are much harder to resharpen. The straight flute ones can be resharpened dozens of times quite easily, effectively lasting longer because of this. Spiral flute does cut faster and clear chips better, but they also can pull into thin wall material like a conventional twist drill bit, which can be a significant downside.

Ha, not exactly true, but a lot of the tools are newer after decades of buying tools and buying something better rather than running out in the middle of a project and buying something at the hardware store. The idea is that they are CURRENT and optimized, not what I randomly bought… otherwise why make the video? Thx for the comment!

Nice setup! I carry a very similar cross section of tools in my Veto backpack and it serves me through 90% of the repairs I do in any given day. I don’t think you’re overloaded at all-I think my bag weighs around 50lbs but that saves me from walking across the plant and back to the crib for parts (most of the time) or tools. Thanks for sharing a peek into your workflow.

You gave me some great ideas and introduced me to some new tools. Not sure why so many commenters feel the need to point out that many of your tools look new. I thought my do-it-all bag was loaded to the max, but you put me to shame. Side note: I have a lot of older tools that are Made in USA, and while they have served me well, I am converting some of them to German/Swiss/Japanese tools and bits with no regrets. Look forward to more videos!

@orange_ash6902 Год назад
Two things, 1) that things weighs a ton. I thinks it’s super cool you have maximized your space in such a creative way. I do think the life of the bag and your back are going to be cut pretty short however due to the stress. 2) I actually have found a way to effectively turn this into a backpack. Underneath the two meter bags on either side is a location where you can place a stainless steel eyelit. Place a nut on this with a washer. Now just place aftermarket backpack straps. This should help out your back way more.
@projectpinehills
@projectpinehills Год назад
I am working on a smaller bag load out. I think at the end of the day, it’s how many tool run trips do you want to make vs bag weight. Neither is ideal. Thanks for commenting!

Nice packout! I appreciate you doing this, I did pick up some good ideas for tool choices. Maybe add some 3:1 oil and steel wool for tool cleanup? My problem with canvas sacks is that they don't seem to last and if they get the slightest bit of water on them, the tools rust out in the bag and theres a big mess. I don't use my tools like this every day and that might be the problem. I've pretty much given up on a one bag solution. I have to organize by the job. Electrical | Plumbing | Framing | Mechanical | Demolition etc.. Seems like every job I get I end up using every tool I have, and still manage to need to buy more. I do like the new stackable pack=out systems Rigid | Milwaukee, but they are heavy and klunky, but they do the job in protecting the tools from the element, but they aren't the best tool organizers. I think I am going to spray the inside of the black boxes orange/white so I can see easier what I have, don't know why they don't do this automatically ... just put everything down in a black hole, brilliant.

It’s hilarious how all the gate keepers always say “these tools look like they never come out the bag”. I didn’t know it was a right of passage to have beaten up/greasy looking tools. It never fails, there's always one lol. I wasn’t going to make a video talking about what I planned to do, I put in some new tools right before the video. I have that tape measure too! love the 8th inch measurements. that long shank klein is really cool. i dont keep a long shank as they take up too much room but thats perfect. gave me some good food for thought buddy thanks.

I was pumped when those Milwaukee 7-1 pliers came out bc I love the Klein hybrid linesman strippers with the grey handle so I gave these milwaukees a shot and bc they can strip #10 solid I figured they would cut it Np right? WRONG! First attempt it bent the blade so bad it looks like I cut a live circuit and they have a hole right in the middle?!? Milwaukee doesn’t warranty hand tools so they’re in the garbage pile with the rest of my Milwaukee hand tools which have been switched out, years ago, to Knipex pliers and Wera drivers. Nothing cuts, grips and feels like knipex and they’re just as costly as Klein and similar.

I’ve found they rust a lot less in an enclosed tool bag. If they are stored out of the bag in a non conditioned space, corrosion is a problem. Thanks for watching!

Save your back and load-out a few different 'Task Specific" bags rather than drag 30lbs of tools to a task that only requires two or three of them. I try to keep my Veto TP4B under 15lbs...or closer to 10 without the impact. I used to lug-around a fully-loaded MC and MCT bag - and THEN the backpack ALL of those things are like 30lbs. Now I run the TP4B and keep my OT-XXL on the van with the things I don't use daily or doubles of 'must-have' tools. I utilize the CP4 and CP5 pouches for things like a dual-port manometer with all the wrenches and drivers I need to check gas pressure - for example. I like to make these kits for other tasks that I may only do once a week or once per months (or season tools) to keep the weight out of my main service bag - it's all trial and error - been perfecting my load-out for HVAC Service for almost 8yrs now.

Very well thought out bag. Very curious, what trade are you in? I also have this bag too and I love it. It is so well built and organized it allows you to put SO MUCH gear in it. In which causes a problem, weight! I honestly got tired of lugging around a 35lb bag on my shoulder. I eventually swapped everthing into the veto mct backpack and it holds everything the tpp xl holds (not quite as well). By distributing the weight on both straps it makes caring your gear to the jobsite so much easier. I still have this bag and will eventually repurpose it for something else. Just will not try to overload it!

I couldn’t imagine this tool bag being practical for everyday/ in and out of truck use. First off,,it has to be extremely heavy. I wonder how many flights of stairs you could get up without sitting down to take a break😂. Second, there’s way too much to keep track of. Lastly, many items are redundant and can be removed. For example, the battery post cleaner, wire brush, toothbrush, sandpaper could be replaced with one scotchbrite pad that’s cut into small pieces.
@projectpinehills
@projectpinehills Месяц назад
How many trips do you want to make up and down those stairs? I have lighter bag loadouts on the channel. Not sure scotchbrite pads replace a wire brush. That doesn’t sound practical. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!

@@projectpinehills I hear ya, but do you use that bag on a daily basis? I sometimes make multiple stops per day (and I am pushing 50) so that’s why I cringe. The wire brush is light so that’s not a big deal, but the mechanics tools are weight killers. I carry a Veto XLT and I wish I could carry smaller. Everything else is subcategorized into pack out cases or systainers depending what job is on deck. Rough in work is in the pack outs, trim out work is in systainers. So I’ll grab my Veto bag and whatever kit I need. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy your reviews and don’t mean to sound overly critical.

In my rush to get our newest tech setup asap I mindlessly used your Amazon links to quickly order everything but ended up with 1/4" Makita sockets rather than 3/8 to go with the ratchet & extension. My fault for not reading the product description but frustrating none the less. Maybe fix that link for the next guy. Other than that everything was great. This bag is unreal! 😎

you seem to be a proponent of klein. maybe you don't know about this one - but you can eliminate most of those right angle screwdrivers with it, and replace them with a klein ratcheting screwdriver (65200). it's like a service wrench, kinda, but just accepts standard 1/4" screwdriver bits like you already have clipped on one of those D-rings anyway. check it out, maybe you'll like it. they're convenient and would help to lighten your back marginally by removing those right angle drivers
